I had no idea Faruzan had a ICD on particle generation that's on different level for Mihoyo to force people to wish for constellations just for ER.

I think the reason they did that was so that faruzan's c6 wouldn't produce an ungodly amount of particles, but it definitely sucks that she can't use something like sac bow Edit: to people responding to my comment, I'm not saying that this is the way that faruzan's design should be made. I think her c6 brings about a new design choice that seems interesting for future characters, but gutting her base kit to accomplish it is not justifiable. I'm just giving a potential reason why her energy particle icd was implemented.

Ninnguang already had that icd since release, her C2 allow her to recast her E if it was destroyed, however it won't generate energy again until 6 seconds have passed. It's a horrible mechanic, but at least it was in a 40 energy character. I don't know what they were thinking when doing the same thing with Faruzan and her 80 cost burst

​@@BackwardOutofDusk Maybe but her C6 has a cooldown for that Pressurized Collapse between all the characters anyway, and also, while a 4 star but it's C6. If anything they could make it so her C6 generates less particles than her normal E, if they are worried that it will be too much. I think there is more to it honestly. I think they gave her 80 energy cost burts because of how good swirl is. They made it so players will have to build ER for her, otherwise we could give her some EM and she could do some swirls and provide some damage, but oh no that will make the character too "broken". That and yeah as the guy above said to force people to pull for her constellations. Thanks Hoyoverse. Sorry for the long reply.

C6 Faruzan is both the best and worst thing that happened to Wanderer. If you have her at c6, it feels amazing to play and almost completely transforms her own kit and significantly empowers Wanderer. At the same time, if you don't have her at c6, then it feels terrible and Wanderer's potential feels handicapped as opposed to other 5 stars with their signature supports.

@@flameofanor1415 itto and eula are the exceptions not the rule though; cyno, tighnari, ganyu, hu tao, ayaka, xiao, keq, diluc, klee... noone of them get hyper armor or interup resist like those 2 from their base kit.

wanderer is one of those characters that would benefit a lot from cryo/pyro characters that fill roles currently empty (like constant cryo/pyro aplicators, cryo subdps, universal pyro supports that arent benny).

@@Seelenya it is not unusable by any means but lacks comfort and a bit of utility. the "not locked into place" thingy isnt that important for wanderer but other dps would like it very much. rosaria also needs a lot of ER, having her as the sole cryo means sacrificing dmg to have burst uptime & at that point you are better with diona so the dmg loss isnt as significant and you get at least some utility out of it. having a character that applies cryo/pyro & deal good dmg with it without relying solely on its burst (needing high ER/ another cryo/pyro teammate) would be really nice not only for wanderer but for many other characters and open new comps. a pyro fiscl could make rosaria a melt dps & melt ganyu less of a clunky mess for example.

@@Seelenya Why use Rosaria with crit rate buff when it's pretty easy to get 100% crit rate on Wanderer? I would recommend to go for other cryo units, like Layla, she is great for him. She was released just before him for a reason.

Thoma and Layla are the two I think of. Both are shielders, which helps with his being a low defense, low poise, catalyst user. Both provide elemental application over time, in a way that moves with the active character. Neither is particularly high damage, though, but Wanderer will at least swirl the element. Layla also has a constellation that gives her a proc of a Yun Jin/Shenhe like bonus to normal damage, which is something that the 40% of Wanderer's signature weapon and the new anemo set would boost. Kinda feel like Layla was designed as a Wanderer support. Anyway, the way I see it is that you want one of those two if you are using Faruzan or C4 Jean with him. And if not, then you want Zhongli, so that you can have -res, shield, and still have 2 slots for Wanderer buffing elements.

Plus - it's really nice to see that Zhongli is not monopolising shielder slot, he is obviously good option, buy Thoma and Layla can be better for Wanderer, for various reasons.

i know it is a scara look-back but the faruzan c0 vs c6 situation pissed me off so much as it is just predatory from hyv to basically make her great at c6 but almost impossible to use her in abyss at c0 without having 300% er and having both arrows to hit plus fav proc. it's just pushing some people to keep pulling then spending money then hyv getting more bag, it is not surprising from hyv (already something similar happened with sara and gorou not as bad tho) but it truly is disappointing and scummy, at least to me as someone who was waiting for a nice anemo support. im lucky enough to have her c4 without having to spend money but eh... anyways very nice analysis as always!! another not-important point about shimenawa is how annoying is losing all your energy exploring and then not being able to proc the set in combat unless you do a whole fav rotation WORM

It also feels like a slap in the face when MiHOEyo asks us on every survey, *"What do you think of Hyv as a company?"* as if they care about how we feel playing their game. The whales and casuals essentially direct the game, and outrule the opinions of the people who pay attention to efficiency, dps, how good a character feels, etc.

But those who like a character can just get enough constellations and refinements to make whatever okay/subpar dps really good and abyss obliterating. Since their monetary investment validates Hoyo’s choices on intentionally okay or bad character design, they might continue doing this knowing that they will still profit.

I wouldn't put Gorou in the same category as Sara and Faruzan in terms of mhy's predatory behavior tho, he's niche but not constellation dependent. His C6 only increases his buff, not give him an essential part of his kit to feel good. Sara I feel is worse than Faruzan as a C0 unit, because she provide the exact same buff type as Bennett, but clunkier, smaller, and briefer, so there's no meta reason to use C0 Sara instead of Bennett unless you're using both of them. At least with Faruzan, she buffs better than Bennett in her niche. But yes, so far, Faruzan has the most scummy cons design, with all the effects she need to feel decent to play locked behind the last cons. If she released with anyone other than Scaramouche, she would be flamed as hard as Kokomi did when she released, if not worse.

Well said. Took me 200 pulls but I did get Faruzan C6 and a Zhongli/Faruzan/Bennett/Wanderer setup is buttery smooth to play. I’ve seen people with 300%+ ER on her and she still doesn’t have her Q off cooldown, while mine has 230% ER and zero issues bursting off cooldown. My Wanderer is 4pc SR, Lost Prayers, 2100ATK, 80/190 and that team absolutely slaps in both single target and AoE, but you really are playing a different character with C6 Faruzan than C0-C5 Faruzan. She’s also a huge improvement for my Xiao. I hated this whole “signature support” thing from the beginning, and Faruzan is a perfect example of why.

Almost all if not all of c0 5 star characters don't need c6 4 star characters to works or clear content C6 4 star character just make it easier to play, so its more of a luxury (there are lot of alternative 4 stars too)

I was lucky enough to get c6 faruzan and it's an insane change and improvement to wanderer's gameplay. keeps enemies staggered and grouped and she generates so much energy that I can burst on cooldown with bennet and faruzan Edit: their duo is still playable without c6 faruzan, I did it for a time. With enough ER on faruzan (I had about 240%) and fav bow / sac sword on bennet, it was enough to get reasonable rotations without having to spend a lot of time recharging faruzan. I even did a cheap 2pc exile 2pc emblem since vivi doesn't help in a hyper carry wanderer team.

this, I was really lucky in getting C6 Faruzan for my C0 Wanderer with Lost Prayers, it's a huge difference. I am personally having a lot of fun with them but I don't know how much of that fun originates from the fact that I do have C6 Faruzan.

The section about his teams energy requirements sums up perfectly my issues with him, I never thought I'd struggle to get Bennett's burst but here we are, hell, I use him with Venti and Faruzan and I struggle to get *Venti's* burst as well since I'm trying to batery Faruzan too I went back to playing Xiao and it was SO much better, in my account at least, anything Wanderer can do, Xiao can do better, Even single target because I don't actually struggle with energy in my Xiao teams

Some team can work as well as hypercarry wanderer, maybe better like, taser, national and freeze, this team at C0 Wanderer feels better to play than his normal hypercarry because you can drive powerful sub DPS to do damage alongside him, as Anemo he can also use VV set but ofc you'll lose a bit of his personal damage, but gain significant increase for whole team damage

About Kagura's, there's actually a way to get all 3 bonuses that's viable in abyss: you start with E, cancel it (this also counts), and set your rotation, when you come back to Wanderer your CD is probably over so you get the third stack. EDIT: This does work but I worded it wrong. You don't get the "three" bonuses, because that only affects elemental skill damage, but this technic does activate the Elemental DMG buff (which requieres the 3 Es).

Not my first choice when running the Abyss, but eventually for long time players you'll reach the point where that isn't even a concern anymore. At this point I care more about overworld exploration meta, and his extra stamina bar and flight is definitely top tier for exploration. To me he's a $200 extra stamina bar who goes nyoom.

When you’re the rare veteran player that has more Faruzan cons than Bennett, Xiangling, and Xingqiu’s combined 😶 I honestly think I pulled reverse psychology on Hoyo because I wasn’t planning to use her at all from all stuff I heard about her energy needs and figured I’d sooner get 2 more Jean cons than a C6 of a new character. ...And then I got her C6 in 90 pulls. I’d say that was much more lucky than if I were to have won my 50/50 or get early 5* pities. Her C6 is really truly great and does make a significant difference, which is pretty scummy by Hoyo. With her C6, my Wanderer team has become like the first I’ve had that everyone’s ER is ready when it needs to be without wasting any extra time with funneling. Which is probably the opposite case for people who didn’t get lucky and can’t afford to whale.

I enjoy his overworld movement abilities, but his combat leaves a lot to be desired When I heard anemo catalyst I was expecting an evolved Sucrose basically able to machine gun swirls, but they went the route of mono anemo dps (which is the worst possible element for that), and then introduced a dedicated support to make that mono element dps at least somewhat competitive that has severe problems until c6 which mostly solves them and unlocks a significant part of her buffing ability as well And that's without mentioning the staggering My man drops out of the sky if a single enemy so much as thinks about attacking him and he dies fast on top of that

Yea, Scara isn't a very f2p friendly character like that. If people are looking for who is best at c0 he ain't it lol. He is light spender friendly though. Scara gets a good amount of upgrades from c1-3 plus a spike at Faru c6. Whales will get another big spike at Scara c6. It's possible as f2p, but the only reason I was able to get c2 Scara /c6 Faru is because dendro and those units didn't seem like fun to me, so I had a lot saved up throughout Sumeru.

Getting Faruzan c6 feels like having an off-field hydro applicator for pyro dps, it feels that impactful and is honestly a must have. Wanderer without C6 faruzan is like Yoimiya w/o reaction on a lavawalker set, and with c6 faruzan you suddently feel like you have multiplicative reactions on your anemo dmg (I know it's not the same but there aren't many other ways to boost your anemo dmg) Like imagine if Xinqiu had energy issues and sac sword didn't exist and his c6 solved all these problem. Kinda crazy.

Actually I do value Wanderer's NA AoE. Because Wanderer is the only character right now that can move while attacking. What ends up happening is melee enemies tend to funnel together. They bunch naturally. I can't get that to happen as Yoimiya, Diluc, Xiao, or Ganyu, etc. I think I've made my point. Edit: Fav Zhong? Why not Fav Faruzan? Not like she needs stats besides ER anyway. I've never had an issue having energy on Wanderer.

It is almost shocking how much Wanderer is tuned based on his absolute ceiling. Even though it’s so hard to get him near his peak, and much of his damage relies on very well invested powerful teammates, you could tell they were afraid he’d break the game. I have a C1 Wanderer on Wanderer’s set w/ Dodoco Tales and a C6 Faruzan (yeah, I got lucky). It is ridiculous how much of a difference Faruzan makes at C6. It feels like they even noticed how much ppl hated using Sara’s charge attack by substantially shortening it with constellations. But it still felt and feels bad to have a character only feel good to play once they’re C6, and to only really get good value out of Wanderer with that C6. I really hope they don’t tune characters like this again in the future.

I tried for early Faruzans but only got C2 after all the pulls I was comfortable with, for some fun open-world builds I guess. The nice thing about this position is I can use my pity somewhere else and hopefully end up with C6 Faruzan + C0 Scara in the end, I'm very patient when it comes to this trap. Even if I get an early Scara next time, I will then go to whatever pity I deem early enough to where I wouldn't mind getting his C1 before Faruzan C6, and that cycle is just gonna have to repeat until I get it, hopefully at opportune times.

I got Scara partly because I wanted an NA carry for a change (having skipped Yoi, Ayato and Cyno because I already had pulled and built alternatives to them). However, when I was trying to make up his NA build, Optimizer gods suggested that I throw 2-3 WT pieces at him anyway (since I have some really well-rolled pieces that nobody's using anymore), so it was barely a loss in NA damage to build him 4WT and give his N2Cs a real punch at the end. And then it turns out that once again he's a character who can favor CA spam altogether, haha. Looks like I can get away with not farming his signature set after all, since it would take me ages to catch up to the stat line of his Troupe pieces. And I am quite enjoying the overlap between his character name and the set.

I kind of see his passive like I would beidou’s skill. I’ve had beidou as my main dps since I started, but for me there is an element of decisionmaking involved with how it’s used. You could use beidou’s E for some extra damage, but then you are vulnerable to damage afterwards and rely on dodging. Or you could save it and wait for a parry for even more damage as well as protection from the attack. The way I see it, the free dodge is meant to be the same as that, the damage isn’t much but it’s just a means to prepare to dodge an attack. Meaning he requires aggressive play to get the descent stack as well as good dodge timing to remain in the air. I quite like that dynamic.

Running around the chamber while your burst uptime is ticking away is arse plus you're generating less particles for Xiao since you're doing literally nothing. You can't use his e for mobility since he need those charges for energy. Scara just goes pew pew from the middle instead. His aoe isn't as large, but that's not nearly as big of a deal as having to doing literally 0 damage while just hauling arse around the chamber. They're both very good units, situationally better than the other. I swear this is just people crying that they didn't get c6 Faruzan. Just accept that she's not c0 friendly. Scara also gets a lot more out of early cons (and you'll get Faruzan cons at the same time) vs Xiao cons where it's oh yay, 1 extra charge per CHAMBER, a little er when he's not on field (and he's very field time hungry), or when he's below half health he gets a def buff -.-

im glad i got wanderer, 80% or more of this game is spent on overworld exploration and none of the monster found in the map need a top tier T0 dps to beat them. Wanderer is the best character for exploration and works with so many other supports, i never get bored of using him.

In 1.0 I wanted a single copy of xingqiu (there was a klee banner with sucrose xingqiu and noelle and I didn't have any of them even at c0 or noelle at c1). Guess what? I spent 140 wishes and I got c6 sucrose and c7 noelle + c0 klee without getting a single xingqiu. Meanwhile during hu tao rerun I spent around 100 wishes and I got c7 thoma (he was the new featured character). Honesly I don't mind cause I knew I would get xingqiu c6 at some point (and I did) but sometimes you will get the most ridiculous outcome. It just happens.

I’ve been trying to c6 Gorou since ittos launch. This banner I was only two cons away. I spent 20k primos and finally landed him🥴 funny thing is though, in that process, I got c4 faruzan. I had ZERO intention of playing her or wanderer. But after hearing so much hype about c6 faruzan, I considered myself lucky. I thought long and hard about it… had 8k primos and and I’m saving for Al haitham. I said F it and pulled. 3 Multis and I got wanderer AND C6 faruzan, and honestly, I love his play style. That's because the attk buff gets diminishin returns once you get to a point in Attak stat. Bennet and pyro ress is enough, even just Bennet honestly.

Also needless to say he or more specifically his dedicated support has so high ER reqs that she won't even work pre 5* artifacts. So anyone who isn't AR 50+ is gonna have an even worse time with those 2. Not to mention that most accounts don't even have 25%+ ER goblet, flower, feather and crit circlet.

I'm glad I decided to go for c6 faruzan (c0 wanderer but happy tbh), but also mad that she is designed the way she is, I don't like this niche support with busted c6 direction. At least with Raiden/sara, Raiden's early cons (c2 mainly) are incredibly strong so it was actually pretty nice to get her cons while trying to c6 sara, I don't feel like gorou/itto and wanderer/faruzan are the same in that sense. Definitely a good shout about the abyss vs open world though, Wanderer is really fun to use in exploration, as someone who just does abyss to get my primos and gtfo, meta only matters to me to get 36stars every ~3 weeks. his playstyle and low dependency on his burst is a big part of why I play him so much now. Thank you very much for both your pre-release and post release information, It really helped me make better pulling choices this patch!

He's insanely fun though, probably the most fun character in the game right now, in and out of Abyss. No endgame is coming, I can 36 star Abyss every time, so whatever.

Tbh wanderer's biggest plus for me is the fun playstyle and overworld exploration. My cursed team is Wanderer, Raiden, Tighnari and Zhongli, simply bcs I like how i can switch to anyone and do decent dmg, while also having the comfort✌️

I managed to get c6 Faruzan but only after I decided to pull more. Before I pulled more I noticed how horrible Faruzan is. Your fighting effectiveness basically doubles at c6. Her c6 is worth more than all 5 of her previous constellations put together. The non hyper carry teams were so so. He benefits a lot from buffs so instead of say Xingqiu you would use Bennett in a Beidou + Fischl team. The one type of team that actually feels ok to play in triple anemo before c6 Faruzan is using Venti or Kazuha. Those extra anemo characters fix the energy issues you have. What makes him worth pulling though is his overworld usability. He is the best overworld character in the entire game no question. No one compares to him at all. Not even Yelan or Kazuha. You become super mobile, have endless stamina, can go up 3 times higher vertically than Kazuha or cross wide bodies of water without swimming. Never hold his jump button. Just tap and you will go super high. When going up slopes do not press forward. Just hold dash so you do not get caught on anything.

yeah that thing about support energy generation has been a huge thing i've noticed while playing them, bearing in mind i'm fairly casual, any artifact that has an acceptable main stat and not entirely wrong substats is usually fine with me but Thoma was the first one i wanted to use because i got him C6 and he needs so much energy, i spent a while getting enough ER with fav that as long as he goes first i'll get his burst back, then i was like, well, i dont have benett and i like having different elements, so i'm going to try beidou as well, which also has huge energy requirements (i mean i am being greedy using my wolf's gravestone on her because it's my only 5 star but still), i'm using albedo as my extra unit, i dunno i just like albedo but there are plenty of times where i just use wanderer in albedo's E in the overworld but yeah, Thoma, Beidou, Farazan, Yunjin, so many characters that are really energy hungry Other things i've noticed Diona can't heal Wanderer if he gets nudged barely higher than just E cast on a flat surface, making Diona a bad choice, most healers are kinda bad with him by the looks of it unless you have kokomi/benett/jean because they can heal you even if you fly straight up, the other healers are the aura healers so you can't apply their element because you're flying (kuki/barbara/qiqi), Dori also is useless in this situation too because it's painful to try and hit enemies with the tether and you quickly fly out of range, and once again, high energy requirements. i'm still lost on who my 4th should be on my team honestly, C6 Thoma is neat i can get his burst off cooldown gives me the attack buff from passive, albedo is kinda just like, it's nice pressing E then forgetting about it, then i dont know who to use in my last slot, don't want to pull xingqiu off my hyperbloom team, dont have bennet, dont have c6 Farazan, preferably want more elements because i'm casual and just want to hit things in the overworld, part of me thinks i should just use my Ganyu but she feels weird in the team since like i'm not doing big melt things with this team

I've already cleared abyss with him. I'm just realizing how lucky I was to pull C6 faruzan (have him at C0) and I can admit that does make a huge difference. Honestly, as someone who doesn't have that many characters. He allowed me to clear 12th floor abyss for the first time (only had Yan Fei and Cyno as DPS for the longest time) and that makes me very happy. To me, he is a good pick. But I do recommend running him with a shield unless you enjoy suffering. And you don't honestly need to run him as a hyper carry all the time if you don't want to or don't have the resources for him. I don't regret pulling him. Super fun in the overworld as well.

Well yeah because this abyss cycle was meant solely for him. It’s like that for every limited character. Wait until they introduce an abyss where he doesn’t get any buffs and you’ll see the same problems that Xiao and Itto faces.

@@TacticalDimples Don’t really understand the argument here. I cleared the last abyss as well with him even with Cyno at a disadvantage due to all dumb electro mobs. The only way I’d feel uncomfortable is if they add a boss with anemo invulnerability. But that’s just like anybody else, just make a different team according to what they throw at you? That doesn’t make him garbage. I’ve been limited all this time cause I don’t like Yan Fei and didn’t want to build her but finally I have 2 DPS. With Yelan coming, I’ll have access to more comps and can even make Nahida a 3rd Dps . Just excited cause I finally have more characters I can work with but find it funny cause people be calling anything that’s not broken garbage.

But Yes, statement noted. It is indeed a relevant point but I was trying to say that honestly no character will always be great on every abyss cycle due to the rotation of opponents. It’s a given that there will eventually be bosses that won’t be suitable for a wanderer team for specific chambers, but I mean other characters go through the same thing eventually so it’s not a problem that’s unique to him.

They THINK that they can get me to wish and spend by designing faruzan so poorly. But the truth is they just made me not wish for Wanderer at all. I don't reward shit practices and maybe if more people had self control they'd get the point. To think they could have just separated most of her C6 into her base kit or early constellations and avoided a lot of the problems. It's just pathetic.

with multiple lighter enemies, Wanderer + C6 Faruzan + Crit build Sucrose + Bennett is incredibly fun. Faruzan and Sucrose Qs grouping and smashing enemies up and down for some sweet fall DMG and they're so staggered it doesn't matter that Wanderer has no shield. I have venti and kazuha as well, but they just aren't as satisfying to use as Sucrose in a crit build team.

About Xinqui and Yelan I have a question. Their bursts only activate when Wanderer is doing normal attacks so would using 3N be better than 2NC in that case or 2NC still wins with that team? I know the team of Wanderer/C6Faruzan/Xinqui/Yelan isn't the most optimal but my Bennett is usually busy in other teams and I haven't really levelled my Thoma yet, despite being C6 too...

Bruh not using Faruzan's charged shots with how energy hungry she is is just dumb XD I managed to get my burst back for every rotation thanks to her c1 and with only 233% ER, of course, doing both charged shots. My Bennett of course needed more energy than usual; 250% to be precise. I was not able to consistently get her burst back with these stats and playstyle until I got her c4. There were some rotations where if I fucked up, I would need to do a third or fourth charged attack that made me loose time. However, I had only 233% of ER on her! People should really start using her charged attacks, both of them, unless they have c6 of course. Btw she's the only one on fav and I don't use double pyro or double cast Benny's E

No point in the second charged shot unless you need it to proc fav, because she has ICD on particle generation.

Honestly I really liked the overworld section and think you should include more about overworld balancing in future videos. I think the vast majority of genshin users never touch abyss, and I'd bet even for a hardcore theorycrafting channel like yours, there are a lot of viewers in that boat. It'd be interesting to do some sort of survey on the % of your viewers that touch abyss

i might consider pulling for c0 wanderer if i first pulled near c6 faruzan in upcoming non-wanderer banners AND maybe if i pulled lost prayer in standard banner. what ticks me off is that unlike wanderer, raiden isn't dependant on c6 sara and u still can use raiden in multiple meta teams like in rational, hyperbloom and non-c6 sara hypercarry teams, AND if i wanted to pull c6 sara in only raiden banners then c2 raiden with/without c6 sara is more worthwhile than c2 wanderer+c6 faruzan.

I'm comfortable with C2 Faruzan. Sometimes I use her, sometimes I don't. Feels good to have option outside her. I'm not in a rush for additional power and eventually I'll C6 her. Now that I have used Wanderer for about 2 weeks now, I must say my feeling about getting him to C6 in the future is becoming strong. (I want that flashy fast wind blades) and my interest in other characters have lowered. I might just save from now on since I have all the answers and counters to every abyss enemies.

if you C6 5 stars you dont care about Meta. Almost any of the new carrys can solo abyss. The strange thing is that when I did invest a lot in some chars I liked it ended up diminshing my enjoyment in overworld because you oneshot everything.

@@ixirion yea you have a point. I already kill enemies fast in overworld. I like the challenge in abyss. Not fast kill and sometimes gotta think of team comps and I dont want it to be stupid easy. Might just have to settle for more atk speed so C1 and 1 copy of signature weapon might be good stopping point or atleast until C2.

I hope that Faruzan ends up on a good banner in the future; I really like Wanderer's playstyle (especially in the overworld) and having C6 Faruzan instead of C2 will be a nice improvement. I don't really want any Wanderer constellations because I like using charged attack spam with a shielder, meaning his C1 is useless for me, so I'm hoping it's a double banner with a character I want or a character I want constellations for.

Got Wanderer + Lost prayer + set Shimenava (due to Yoimia). And i got 35% ER from set. Fully playable = no regrets.
