Not necessarily true. For example, Lisa should be getting most opportunities to dance up front and the least singing/rapping parts. Jennie should focus on rapping and singing. They can’t have all songs with a rap so all of them should sing too.I am trying to tell equal opportunities from the company, all of them should have a solo gig where they can showcase themselves with where they are best at (which you mentioned) and explore other things they might excel too. But you see, all of them were given that opportunities except Rosé ( 2018 til present) .

Omg, I thought I was the only one that was kinda disappointed about KTL... I love the song and its meaning, but they were hyping it so much, saying it was going to be better, more powerful than DDDD, the choreography made by the best dancers... And then I listened to it (I actually had to sneak my phone in class because I was so excited) and after listening to it for the first time, I wasn't amazed or anything (but the MV's visuals were a 100). It kinda had the same scheme as DDDD and I was hella disappointed because they had put so much hype around it. The girls still did a wonderful job and I agree that Don't Know What To Do is like, the best song of the album. It really changes from the powerful, badass songs we're used with BLACKPINK and even if Jennie and Lisa usually are the rappers, their parts were very well sung. Personal opinion/question: About the cultural appropriations, why are BLINKs always coming up with the excuses instead of the girls? I see it a lot online, and I've always wondered what was the point of doing so. It might go with the fandoms' reputation, but I still find it quite weird that it has to be the fans that excuse the girls instead of the girls themselves that come up with an apology... It's not the fandom who did it, it's the girls so why? I always wondered.

If you keep fearing this simplistic definition, then you better have lisa and every Kpop artist forbidden from rapping. Cultural appropriation is natural as history itself, it is seen in a negative light when people borrow from respected tradition or religion of that culture with out understanding or no care of understanding. Another negative use is when a dominant culture appropriates from a lesser culture they have subjugated.

The idea, that something as natural as Braiding your hair is owned by a given culture or ethnicity is ridiculous. Now religious or cultural garbs, tatoos, etc... that hold meaning in the traditions and practices that culture, requires some knowledge and consideration before hand. In the end if your going to mimick or copy something from another culture, do it with respect and acknowledgement of that culture. Braids though, nah.

I feel like getting mad at Lisa for having braids was a very US-centric attitude. Korea doesn’t have the same history or culture as us. People get mad at white Americans for wearing traditionally black hairstyles because black women are still shamed for wearing their natural hair in professional settings and have historically been shamed for it in America. To expect Koreans to cater to Americans specifically regardless of how popular they are here is ignorant imho. Okay so just going to be honest here. I have watched pretty much every reaction to Kill This Love that there is on KZbin. I would say more than half have been reactions from Black people and the other percent white. LITERALLY the only people that were offended by Lisa's box braids were the white people. While the Black people were saying things like "Yes girl!! Work that hair!!". Or "Ohhhh girl that hair is fire!!!". Just like in DDU-DU-DDU-DU the only people offended by Jennie having that jewel in the middle of her forehead were Black and white people. While those of Indian culture complimented it saying it looked great on her. Ya'll need to stop causing race wars. We are a ONE People. No matter what; we are made of the same things. Culture appropriation is used by people when they feel their culture is not being accurately represented or their culture is being used as a prop. Lisa’s braids in kill this love is one of many examples of braids being used as a way that feels like a prop or costume. Most Kpop idols I have seen wearing braids are rappers using them in a bad-a** song, they use them to be more intimidating or be seen as more edgy, basically feeding of the negative stereotypes of black people being aggressive and the idea of braids being ghetto or “hood” which is also a stereotype of black people. Braids aren’t off limits, they just aren’t a prop. Take Joy from Zimzalabim. Her braids were used in multiple scenes, and were not used for the negative stereotypes and connotations, they were just worn. I feel like Lisa’s case alone is not the issue.

When I told my mother about the "cultural appropriation" with the braids she said "Children were wearing those so much in the 80s and 90s and nobody had problem back then!" (that applies for my country). Well... I personally feel it's racist to hate kpop idols for wearing dreads and braids but not white people. Y'all kpopies count it cultural appropriation only when an idol you don't like does it. But "it has meaning for certain cultures". When white people do it, it still has meaning for those cultures. Then what, in Yuri's "Into you" and Everglow's "Bon bon chocolate" there are motives from my country's folklore, so I should hate them? No, I won't. I personally feel proud that someone decided to adapt my culture into their artistry.

Okay so here’s my opinion about KILL THIS LOVE. The album was obviously rushed. And yeah it connects to BS issues. But I also think YG might be actually trying to improve its management and listen to fans. I’m grateful that they made comeback. About the MV i Don’t get why some blink are bitching about it. Cuz it was beautiful. The symbolic meaning behind it, screentime of girls, the numbers of outfits each one got was fair. They probably spent fortune into making this MV. Just go watch other girl groups or any groups MV. I always find YG’s MVs more aesthetically pleasing while keeping it’s YG style (Only SM and Bighit can tied withYG when it comes to MV production overall) The MV freakin killed it. Yeah they could’ve been more creative in the editing, camera work department. Side tracks: I liked them all tbh. Do I listen to them on repeat? No bit they are great songs shows members’ potential and talent enough for only 4 songs. I personally love Kick It. Idk why it just reminds me of old YG days and I love that. I personally think Jisoo and Lisa freakin killed them vocals. And I’m truly happy for that. Design and photo album: I wasn’t impressed that much. Regular, clean style that YG goes for. Nothing much to say and I don’t like that bruised photoshoot. I got the symbolism but still bothers me. YG could’ve done much better and should do better for next album design tbh. YG used to have great album design for example BB- Special edition, GD- OOAK, ZionT- OO, 2ne1- 2nd mini and so on. And DDUDUDDUDU remix was nice little touch that really has YG style to it. Which I’m not mad at although I’m never really fan of remixes. But also I always stand by my opinion about YG tries to milk fans too much by releasing fewer songs in each album. The number decreases by the group’s popularity. (BIGBANG MADE for example) I absolutely hate that about YG. Just give us full album or mini album that has 6 or 7 songs like other groups do!! And show some versatility and maybe even showcase girls’ composing skill!!! But at the end of the day I really think YG is actually knocking some sense to his head and trying with Leehi, Treasure13 and BP. Actually grateful that BP had performed in Coachella and their US promo is quite good. We have to credit YG for that

Tbh, I liked only Hope Not from this album. KTL was a HUGE let down, Don't Know What to Do was nice but not something extraordinary in my opinion (I felt like the same formula for Forever Young was used here too), Kick It was catchy at first but then it got boring for me. Plus, I kind of hated it that they used the words 'kick it' more than 100000 times. It made the song lose its meaning at some parts. Hope Not on the other hand was really something else. The emotions were real and I missed hearing that kind of vibe in BP's songs. So sad that that amazing song is so underrated just like Stay. Idk why the majority of people prefer the mainstream songs rather than those that can really touch your heart. As for the 4D remix, wtf was that??? I bet I would do a much better job remixing it even though I know zero things about that stuff. It was seriously a no no and I can't believe that that remix made it to the final cut. Overall, this comeback disappointed me a lot. The concept and the message were cool but kind of clichè and in some moments, even a bit messy. What I realised from this comeback is that BP aren't superhumans that release only bops. They work hard just as every other kpop group and have a quite talented producer that gives them a lot of hit songs but in the end of the day, it's only the hype of people that gives them power. Without that hype, BP wouldn't cause that much buzz

It’s honestly as if racism never ended. Why did everyone suddenly become experts on this type of stuff. Cultural Appropriation is when you take something (such as box braids) and inappropriately use them, such as mocking them. Was Lisa doing that? All she did was rap with them, and there was no signs of mockery in it. The Jennie thing is an example of cultural appropriation, however.
