Hi Jami. When you walk with your horse, dont let her walk ahead of you. Your in the lead . Not the horse. Thats your space. Tighten up on holding the lead rope.

🐴Yes, I was thinking thru the whole video.. tighten up the lead rope, making the distance between you two about half the length you're using in this video when leading her. You'll have much better control that way. You're giving Stormy too much control of her head as you walk her. When grazing, she obviously needs more of the lead rope. Storm is absolutely stunning !! I noticed the black on the outside edge of her ears . She has the sweetest whinny , I love to hear it . I imagine her owner is smiling from heaven as she watches how you bond with Storm . It amazes me how God fits the pieces of our lives together like a jigsaw puzzle . No matter the distance …..he works everything out . He guides us through life . We just have to relax and trust him ( so hard to do sometimes ) . Makes me think of the song by Ricky Nelson - I Will Follow You ( an oldie but goodie ) . Y’all are doing such a great job of giving all the babies their Best Life . They all look so fit and healthy . I’m so thankful that y’all are a piece of the puzzle in my life .

Horses feel more confident in their herd so it is natural to be more skiddish when they aren’t. I bet she will learn that when you take her from her herd she gets to come back I would think that would make her more confident. ( not a horse person just observation). Storm is a very beautiful horse

I think you're right, Theresa. They are herd animals, so this is how they would feel -everything is a threat if your alone. Storm could benefit from being desensitized while being away from the herd. 👍 Jo

Morning Jami - it’s amazing to watch you striving to give Storm guidance in her confidence building, as you yourself build back your own trust and confidence, after what was a very traumatic event and injury you sustained. It will take time - for both of you, but it’s so beautiful to watch. I have to say, there are things that are so appealing to my ear - the sounds of waves lapping upon a shore, a robins song, wind chimes in a soft breeze, water babbling over stones in a brook, the almost haunting, yet amazing echo sounds of whales talking in the open oceans and horses whinnying. Some sounds seem so magical to my ears and hearing Storm, Rita or even the less vocal fella’s whinny, reminds me why there is a saying of ‘music to my ears’ Thanks for sharing part of your Saturday with us and do enjoy the rest for yourself.....💕

Storm and Rita have formed this great bond which is truly amazing to watch playing out between the two of them. You and Storm also have bonded very well together as you have now learned so much about each other that the two of you now know each other so well that you can connect to better communicate through your actions allowing the other to know exactly what is to be expected and also what is to be permissible during your time together. You have shown love and understanding, and your horses have truly come a long way since the beginning of your time with them. You are doing wonderful with them Jami and it shows through their actions each and every day you share with them.

FACTS OF THE DAY .... Cucumbers... I didn't know this... and to think all these years I've only been making salads with the cucumbers... 4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.

She’s scared in the same area that SADIE used to bark towards. Maybe Storm sees something we don’t 🤷‍♀️. She’s also a mare and for some reason mares get separation anxiety where geldings don’t. Safety tip for walking a horse on halter: it’s best practice to walk horses where you are positioned at their front shoulder, with one hand holding the lead just under the halter near the buckle. You have control of them this way. Never walk out in front on a long lead, as you don’t have control and they have nowhere to run aside from into you if they get spooked. Conversely, if you walk too far behind near their hind legs you risk them accidentally kicking you. So lead from the shoulder, one hand under the buckle and ensure not to loop the lead around your hand, always fold it. My aunty lost her thumb from looping the lead around her hand, loosely and when her calm horse spooked, the lead tightened and ripped off her thumb and she had to have her big toe put onto her hand. Stay safe Jami.😊 🌈

It's like when she is with Rita, her mind is occupied by Rita. With Rita not there, she finds other things to be aware of. Consistency is key. You have 1 Filliy (until 5, then she is a mare or an adult..think 12-14 yr old girl). and a yearling (until 2, then she is a filly ....think pre-k to kindergarten). They guessed 4 for Stormy with her teething her adult front teeth yet. Rita is around 18mths to 2 yrs. Congratulations on bringing them as far as you have. Most horses are trained in the basics by 2. You have come so far with them both! With all of the set backs your forward momentum has been great in NOT setting THEM back ❤ I believe the boys were around 15 -18, they are seniors at between 55 - 62. Your confidence in a situation gives them reassurance ❤

When walking your horses tighten up on your lead rope so they can't get in front of you. Horses sense fear if you're afraid they know it and will use it against you.
