I hope after i die, instead of heaven i come back as someone living between the late 70s- early 90s. Or the very least come back as my 4 year old self knowing what i know now. Until then, we'll do our best to inspire you with videos of fun ways to bring the spirit of the 80's into your everyday life. 2020 has been a discouraging year to say the least, but we have found that listening to the upbeat music of the 80's, playing old-school games, and watching classic movies and TV shows of the era have really helped fight off the blues. Hang in there, my friend :)

I was born a year after you were @mitchellj1986, and I too really want to live in the 1980’s and 1990’s, having always had a fascination with those decades too, and consider that to be Heaven. I’d willingly join you in growing up during the 1980’s and 1990’s, either as your sister or as your neighbor and best friend whether I’d live in the same house as you or next door to you.

@@Our80sLife, thank you so very much for uploading this video! I’ve always had a fascination with the ‘80’s ever since I was a toddler, having been born in 1987. Heaven to me is growing up in the 1980’s and 1990’s, and enjoying all those decades had to offer. Especially in having a whole lot of friends to play with in a kid filled neighborhood where everyone looks after and helps each other. Unfortunately, I grew up in the country in the 1990’s when stranger danger was so very prevalent and could only have play dates with each of my friends one day a month. I look forward to more videos in the near future.

I loved playing my original Nintendo for a couple hours, then going outside with my friends and riding our bikes a mile away to build a “fort” in the woods. We’d also play baseball, football, wrestle, and on Saturdays we’d go to the mall...back when malls were vibrant, bustling, amazing places! I’d be absolutely lost in the arcade with $5 worth of quarters and I always had to coordinate with my mom when it was time to leave, because duh, we didn’t have cell phones back then. Oh, and if you wanted to meet up with your friends, you just showed up at their house. And if they were grounded or eating dinner or whatever, their parents would tell you to and then have you run along. Life was so simple and so fun back then. We got excited by things that bore kids today

Two qualities that made the 1980s truly unique from any other point of time in history. Hope and Optimism. The 1980s did have a lot of problems in the real world but people during that time had two important qualities that truly made the 1980s feel magical and truly special and no matter how bad things got or how bad things seemed to be there was always light at the end of the dark tunnel. Hope and optimism is what made that time unique and still one of the greatest in human history. People felt like they could do anything and because they could. Their culture reflected that with movies, songs, and lifestyles. Dreams did some true because kids, teens, and young adults in the 1980s had hope and optimism two of the best of humanity's qualities that went away afterward.... it makes me sad to always realize that, but watching these videos always gives me hope and positivity. I hope someday that humanity can regain those qualities that bring out the best in people. 😊

I was 13 or 14 at the time.. and it might have been as simple as her hairstyle.. maybe triggering vivid memories.. or maybe it was more complex like the innocence that came thru.. which made me reflect on my own life back in the 80's versus today.. and the state of the world today versus then.. who knows.. anyways it's definitely nice to see videos like this!

I'm a Millennial but my parents are both Xers. They were in college around the time this video was made. One hallmark of 70s/80s kids seems to be the complete lack of parental supervision whatsoever. My parents were always present and super involved in nearly anything I did; no wonder y'all were called the latchkey generation! Very cool timewarp to my favorite period (just a few years before I was born)!

Thanks for watching! Yes, our generation was (and is) fiercely independent! My parents struck a good balance of allowing me to learn independence but also making sure I was always safe. I was a latchkey kid in that I came home from school while my parents were still at work, but only for an hour or two and Mom made me call her at work every day to let her know I made it there safely.

I was born in 2002 so I'm like a baby compared to you guys, but I wish I was born in that time, somewhere before the 80's. I envy those who lived through that time (positve envy). It looks like that era had some kind of magic or something, because it seems so good. I've watched Stranger Things on Netflix and the first time I saw it I was immediately "obsessed" with the 80's. And especially watching this precious video! I searched on the internet how it was like and all I could find was that it was 1000 times better than today. There was also a comment that said: "Phones & technology killed it for everyone." Do you agree? I think it kind of did...
@Our80sLife2 жыл бұрын
Love your comment!! You are what we would call an "old soul" and I truly wish you could hop in a time machine and get a chance to experience the awesome '80s with us, sigh. We've also been loving the nostalgia of Stranger Things, especially the mall scenes. I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing my video- check out our playlist for more of my old home movies. To answer your question, we would definitely agree that the newer technologies (especially smart phones) have complicated our lives in many negative ways. The 1980s were just a simpler, more carefree time. Anyway, thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your thoughts.

It's a great lifestyle for sure.. and there's something about seeing the 1980's version of it that is so interesting.. but the majority of people still don't live like that today.. even in North America or other prosperous nations.. we all would like to if we could, but reality is different for many reasons.. either way, material comfort is always secondary to family, friends, and being at peace within.. just my 2 cents! @@Harrison3-b4t That was.. (and still is ) definitely a nice house!.. they were no doubt well off.. probably upper middle class.. but real estate was way more affordable back in the 80s.. and disposable income was higher.. if you had a good job.. lower taxes.. less bills to pay.. simpler life.. although some things cost more back then.. including interest.. but people lived far less on credit than they do today.. and I suspect most people didn't have 95% of anything that was marketed to them as normal things they should run out and buy... I remember seeing all the fancy things available on "the price is right" and "wheel of fortune" that never, ever made it into my family.. and we grew up upper middle class, in a larger home than this one.. (although it still had only 3 bedrooms and we were 4 kids, so I shared a room with my 2 younger brothers till my parents finally renovated an uninsulated room for me to use.. we did have a fancy european car with leather seats, but the second car was a sub compact 1981 honda shitbox.. all to be financially prudent.. I am 45 years old today, with a good job, but I could never dream of affording the house in this video.. Not complaining about it.. but times have changed a lot since the 80's.. for better.. but in many ways, for worse!

This looks like it was filmed somewhere in between 1987/1988 near the end of the 80's. I remember the clothes and hairstyles were still present in 90/91.A lot of talk shows had those flowered sofa's and pink lampshades at the time. The microwave looks to be a late 70's model Amana Radar Range. It seemed so normal back then to have a boombox in the bathroom, i had totally forgotten about that. You're hairstyle reminds me of Heather Graham who played Mercedes Lane in License To Drive with Corey Haim.
