The low balance on the loan is exactly why they targeted her. With the house worth over $300K and only $65K owed, that's over $200K of equity available for them to steal. They could sell it dirt cheap to a real estate company owned by one of their friends, and give the woman little or nothing from the sale.

Dave made an update on his show recently. He said there was a lot of outpouring from the Ramsey community for this caller. His company and workers are going to help her out of this mess and said she will NOT lose her house. When Dave says that you know he means business!

I feel for her. No life insurance. Workman's comp refusing to pay a death benefit. It sucks. So many ways she can save that house. The mortgage company is trying to steal her equity. She needs financial guidance and a good but low cost attorney. Some shady doings going on here. As a minimum she should be able to do a refinance on the loan. She has a ton of equity. First she needs to get everything in her name, then she can get financial help. Her job will be sufficient to get her thru. Her 20 yr old also needs to step up.if possible. Every little bit will help keep a roof over their heads.

Therefore banks seek to unload the property as fast as possible and at whatever price they can find. They have no obligation or fiduciary responsibility to find the best price, so long as they are made whole* on the loan. So, long story short, the bank doesn’t give two iotas about your equity once they foreclose.

As soon as you know you can't afford your home any longer or a bank starts to threaten you then it's best to find a realtor, ibuyer, or investor and sell your house as soon as possible before they forclose on it. You're going to get less than what the house is worth, but you'll at least have $80k to $100k in your hand as either reserves and a down payment down the line for a home or another down payment and in her case she could qualify for FHA. Fighting a big lender on a foreclosure is a nightmare.

Life happens. When my brother died of cancer my other brother was living with him helping him. He had no where else to live and was becoming disabled. It took me a lot of time to unravel the situation because my dead brother had never updated his Will. The house had slipped into foreclosure. My self and our sister got it out of foreclosure and paid it off. Really important to have family and friends. Honestly 3000 is not that much money. I have helped widows before in similar situations. There are Godly people everywhere. If you need help ask God to send one to you. Thanks Dave for helping this lady and her children. Our Father is pleased.

My dad died at 37 and my parents had 5 girls. My mother had never worked outside the home. When my dad found out he was dying, he bought a policy that was just enough to bury him and for my mom to buy a cheap used car. She worked 3 jobs and my teenaged sisters looked after us little ones. It was rough. I left my 100k/year income to raise my daughter but I have plenty of life insurance and still work from home part time. I made sure that wasn’t going to happen to me. I still contribute to my own retirement as well.

I mean clearly she likely has some issues spending but the idea that the insurance company can file an appeal and that PAUSES payments rather than continue payments while merits are being decided is nuts. And the fact that upon reinstatement they weren't required to pay an immediate lump sum as backpay is LUNACY! Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing that can chime in? This is where you see the gift of Dave’s experience in these calls. We have seen him 1,000 times just crack down on people but in this he comforts her and helps her finally have one semblance of peace that she is not alone. He knew precisely where to meet her and how to help her in ways that many of the others simply wouldn’t be prepared for yet. And that’s his mastery in this is having the right touch and the experience and wisdom of how to handle these varying calls. And as much as people want to rag on some others, and I get that becsuse some of the others can really be brash, we also have to remember Dave has built this ability over 30 years of these calls which absolutely needs to always be remembered when comparing any of these things. The way Dave handled calls 20 years ago I can guarantee differs a lot from now. Even from around 10 years ago when I listened to him much more consistently his touch has evolved a ton.

Roofing is such a brutal job. Not only is it tough to do on a good but hot day. But when accidents occur they are always devastating. I know a guy who was a roofer who fell and hurt his head in his 50s or late 40s and he's pretty much done as an adult and under the care of his own mom.

To any roofers out there, the OSHA fall harnesses suck but they’ll save your life. They’re $120 or so at Home Depot. If you fall with harness on and the harness is bolted to the roof, you never hit the ground.

I am so glad I tuned in to this. I had a ton of help that I reached out for about 20 years ago. It was so tough to leave my ex with three kids and no money but it was so worth it. Thanks for helping this lady out, whoever she is I hope she gets through and has positive days ahead. An amazing call !!

@@indianatime In my response, I said, "Today, August 7th." It was today's show. If I am remembering correctly, it was discussed at or near the beginning of the show. Many people wanted to donate to the woman's cause. Dave suggested they look to help someone in or near their own communities. Dave knew he had nice listeners!

Omygosh such a sad situation. She needed financial advice like this. She should NOT let all that equity be lost. She needs to sell it before the wretched bank takes it. This poor girl needs her dad 😢 and dave stepped in to guide her like a good dad does and like her dad would have done if he could have ❤❤

Dave may not be crying but I am. The lady inhales/heavy breathing kept hitting my heart and I started crying. Then she said she lost her dad before her husband hit even harder. Not just her spouse but someone she’s looked up to her whole life. I hope this ladies life changes and goes into a different direction in the next couple years. She deserves better after going through all that.
