So brave of you to speak of your feelings of homesickness for your family and home Charis. You have a wonderful life, husband and children around you but sometimes you just need to connect with your roots, having a lovely South Korean dinner was a lovely way to take you to a special place. Happy Birthday and I hope you can plan a trip to visit your family in South Korea very soon X

"You can have it. Is your birthday". Joshua is such a sensible boy.❤ Happy birthday Charis🎊🎉🎂. I know how you feel when your emotion kicks in. Somethings is easier said than done. I think is good to have heart to heart talk with your loved ones and share your feelings with them when you are feeling down or sad. When the situation is getting better I hope you can visit your family again. Remember, you have a very happy family. Good husband and three lovely children. 💖 Take care and stay safe❤

It’s refreshing for content creators to put out videos that feel so genuine. I appreciate that you show more aspects of your life that is beyond the bags and cloths. It show that we are all humans and we all have our mountains that we need to climb. Some may do it in fabulous Chanel boots but the climb is not any easier. I hope you know you are putting a lot of positivity in the world. Your videos are a great form of escape during these trying times. I wish you continue success and contentment.

Happy Birthday Charis! Thank you for your heartfelt words. Being a mother is an endless selfless job that can be emotionally draining and feel like a marathon that never ends. As we age, it is hard not to remember where we came from and the ties we have with those places and people. You are so lucky to have your Dad to talk to, even though the time difference makes it difficult. My mom passed away this year and even though we didn't have the best relationship, I still miss her and worry about the day that I will lose my Dad (who means the world to me). It is hard to see our parents age & to feel like the entire world is on our shoulders as we take care of our kids, our parents, and let ourselves always come last. I also just had a birthday & it was very emotional for me as well. Your openness & willingness to share your emotions make me feel like I am not so alone in my emotions & thoughts. Thank you & I wish you much happiness!

I totally understand that depression is a real monster , it is scary and pushes people to to do unexpected things .. however the best way to fight it is to focus on the ( beautiful amazing things we have and blessed with ) and to avoid thinking about ( the things we miss ) since no one’s life is perfect . We All have issues without a doubt

Charis it made me so sad to see you sad!!! 😔 I can definitely relate to missing home. I miss Japan so much, ever since my mom died a few years ago, going back home after she died made me feel so connected to her. I felt her presence every where in the house. It brought me great comfort and joy to be at home which I love so much. Now with covid I have been trying to go home for twice and it gets cancelled. I pray you will get to go home soon and visit family and just be around everything and everyone that you hold dear❤️ I loved how your husband and beautiful children made your day extra special!!! It’s a testimony to how much you are loved by them!!! Thank you for always taking time to make videos. When my mom died your videos always took me out of a sad depression for the time I watched!!! Thank you for sharing your life with us!!! You are a true blessing❤️🥰 Happy Birthday Beautiful!!!!!🥰

Same situation as yours but little bit different. I was raised in the States and currently living in Korea with my husband and kids. My parents are in the States, and I get emotional just like you when I miss them. I usually talk to my husband about it because I don't have any close friends to talk about it. Glad you have your best friend to talk about your emotions since it is really important that you spit out how you feel about to someone rather than swallowing it! Hope you feel better and happy birthday again, Charis💕

That’s so good that you found someone to to talk to who can empathize with you. Friends like that who go out of their way are a blessing. I go through PTSD from my recent cancer battle and I think this pandemic is making things worse. Because you feel trapped with nowhere to go and nothing to do. Helps for me to talk to to other cancer survivors who truly understand. Especially now in your situation, it’s difficult to travel to visit family abroad. But we just have to focus on all the love that’s around us from our family and dear friends. And keep communicating when are in despair.

Happy Birthday, Charis! Feeling homesick is always difficult. I can completely relate to how you feel, being Korean myself, married to a non-Korean man, living far and away from "my" family. I also live in a state where the Korean population is rather small. For the longest time, I coped with this sense of loneliness (despite having a great partner) and emptiness by going on crazy shopping sprees. I started seeing a therapist and I'm now just learning that nothing external is enough to fill the void or provide a permanent solution- I sold most of my handbags (could not give up my blue coco chanel and grey evelyne pm!) and started focusing on myself. I know it's not the easiest to shift the focus to yourself when you have three kids, but take a day off for yourself, go on a staycation, pamper yourself with spa and massage! Some of the things that I've been really enjoying are making myself a cup of london fog every morning and going to a park to read. Maybe try rediscovering little things that make you happy that you kind of forgot about because life happened, you got too busy with work/taking care of others before you, etc. I wish you all the happiness! xx

Two things I would do: 1) FaceTime (not phone call) with family members, so that you can see how they live their lives. Believe me, it makes huge difference. 2). Make it a norm, visiting Korea every year (every other year) with all three children, something you all are looking forward to.

My hubby & I came here to the US immediately after we got married. It’s been more than 25 years but I still get very homesick. I think it’s getting worse since I’m getting older. For almost 10 years, I go home and spend time with my family for 3 months. I’m so blessed, fortunate that I can do that and thankful that my hubby allows me to do that. Because of this pandemic, I wasn’t able to do that for 2 years now. I miss my family so bad esp my Dad. We usually go home during his birthday. He turned 90 last summer and I felt so bad we couldn’t see him again. In a few weeks, I’ll be 58. Believe it or not, every birthday, I feel so down and lonely that I don’t even want to shower, dress up or worse, celebrate. I’ll be forced to do so since we usually dine out. I really understand how you feel. Having our family in another country is very difficult. We regularly communicate with my brother and sisters through pms or viber. However having a 12 hr difference in time is quite a different story with my dad since I really have to call him. It’s a little struggle to do the timing since he sleeps early. You know, every time you feel lonely and depressed, don’t forget to communicate with your husband. He’s your only family here other than your children of course. I’m hoping you’ll feel better. Take care always!

Happy Birthday Charis, thank you so much for sharing. I’m a mom of 2 kids, 5 and 1.5 yo. I had my second born 2 days before the first covid shutdown in March 2020. It was so scary to be in the hospital and frantically buying diapers, formula and baby wipes online because they were selling out everywhere. I also hadn’t bought much clothes for baby ahead of time because I thought I would be able to run to Target whenever I needed more stuff for baby. I still have slight trauma from how helpless I felt in those first days back home with baby during a pandemic. An example was I was scared to go to the lactation consultant because of covid, I only went twice, even though I needed more help. It was so hard dealing with my postpartum body, having a brand new baby and husband working from home while my son stayed home from preschool. I can empathize with you. We were supposed to visit Taiwan summer 2020 and bring new baby back to visit family for first time but that never happened. She hasn’t met her grandparents and great grandma. We miss our family too and we miss visiting Taiwan every year. This past year and a half has been so hard for me. I keep wondering how other families seem to be holding up fine (but maybe that’s just an act we put up on social media) I think birthdays really do force us to take a breath and reflect on our life. As a busy person, you’re so used to go go go that you don’t stop to catch your breath. You tell yourself to keep busy because feelings are a waste of time and slow you down. Eventually those feelings catch up to you and you still have to confront them. This is my long winded way of saying you’re doing great, your family loves you and all of us moms and wives feel lost, exhausted and depressed at times. Your feelings matter, YOU matter ❤️

Happy Birthday! YES I totally understand you. I'm also couldn't visit my parents who lives in Korea. I got married here California(it has been already 5 years!) and having first my baby, It has been so busy to take cafe of my baby and husband as a wife and a student and now I'm pregnant due this December. Thankfully, here California there are lots of Korean food so I am able to easy to eat my comfort food. BUT still miss Korea and my family. I think I'm so emotional now( I guess pregnant hormone). I've been worrying about after birth my second one. Who is going to take care of me and need to make a seaweed soup. etc.. anyway Oh Lord, give Charis to you. You know what she need. supply her and strengthen Charis. Lord You are good shepherd. Shepherd her inner being.

Amen 🙏🏼 thank you sister!!!! Totally relate your story! Almost the same but mine is just longer I think! Hehhe it’s been over 10 years last time I went back to Korea. I’ve been just avoiding my sad feelings and not letting it out for so long. This year…… no idea why but really made me sad 😔 deeply. Couldn’t smile like usual till I got to eat my comfort food hahaha 🤣. How silly 😜 is that but that’s what I miss eating lots of food I ate growing up in Korea. Just miss everything and everyone 😣😣😣😣 Thank you for sharing your story!!!! Stay safe and my prayers go to you as well Shine! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 And I totally understand your feelings. When we are pregnant 🤰🏻 ohhhhhh my it’s even crazier 😖😖 But our Lord Jesus is with us! Xoxo cc

@@LVlovercc Right! Thank you for responding and encouraging me:) Sometimes, it is hard to deny myself and feeling. Charis, it is okay. So just call on the name "Oh Lord Jesus.I need you. I come to You Lord." These days I enjoyed the book of Joshua. It is really encouraged me. I'd like to share little bit this. "Christ is our good land, and God wants us to gain Christ. We must be today's Joshua and Caleb, fighting against and defeating the satanic forces so that we can gain more of Christ for the building up of the Body of Christ."

Charis, mental health is so important, especially for Asians and for women who normally do not ask for help. You have a great friend that reached out and shared her experience with you. Continue to lean on them because they all care about you and so do we! Happy belated birthday! 💕

Happy Birthday! I recently found you and subscribed immediately because you are such a sweet person and very down to earth. And I can’t believe how much in common we have. I also have three kids and moved to China with my husband. I am an ABC and never lived in China before so I went through many stages of depression since being here. And have been doing better once my kids were semi older and can travel back and forth every year. But Iike you said with COVID, lately I went through another depression. Right now I am just hoping my kids can get vaccinated soon and we can travel back this following summer 🙏🏻. I miss all my family and friends in USA. I don’t think I can handle another year feeling stuck. Hope you get to go home soon as well! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Happy birthday Charis. Hope you are able to get over the ups and downs in life. Once you get over it, when you look back, its not a big deal. I totally understand how you feel cause I also fall into the lowest of my life during my university time. Luckily I am able to bounce back and now every obstacle I face, I am able to get through because nothing is worst than during that time. Happy birthday!!

Happy Birthday Charis❤ I totally get what you're saying abt the story of the lady who committed suicide. I used to not get it either when I was younger. I think only people who have gone through depression really understand how someone might choose suicide even if they have a "greate life". Like you, I've never thought of actually doing that but I can see it too. What helped me a lot was getting closer to God. Even though I still have a lot of work to do to truly feel close to him. Sending love to you and anyone who is feeling depressed and reading this❤
