“My husband was kidnapped during labour party campaign and they have abandoned me” - Eucharia

This woman’s husband was Labour party governorship candidate in the last Anambra elections. He was kidnapped during the campaign - and she says the party lied to her that he was safe and sound.
Three years later, the party has abandoned her and told her she is on her own.
The alleged kidnappers arrested have now threatened her life. The police is refusing to give any concrete update. She doesn’t know if her husband is dead or alive; if she is a widow or not.
She has had a miscarriage. Her mother in law has come down with a heart condition. Her father in law is down with kidney disease. She is taking care of two children alone.
Eucharia Agbasimalo has severely suffered in the hands of Nigeria. But she has refused to give up.

Every time I remember this pathetic story I get ashamed and upset at the inhumanity of the Labour Party towards this woman. We supported the party because it seemed it could have empathy for the plight of Nigerians and they failed in this instance. Statistically, 77% of kidnapped adults gain victory after 24 hours and when 72 hours has elapsed, the likelihood of death increases. LP did not even as much as file a report during the most crucial time of the crime. Even a dog that goes missing deserves better treatment. This matter cannot be swept under the rug. That campaign should not have gone on with a missing candidate. Is winning more important than human life? Labour Party step up and resolve this case!

In a normal country, you don't need to know anyone to get the police to do their jobs, looking for a kidnap victim and the putting the perpetrators behind bars should be a priority as it is their duty. The man has been killed. His killers are the members of the Simon Ekpa faction of ESN. Those who killed him have even come out to admit that they did so. I once listened to an audio tape they released on his killing. They said they were obeying Nnamdi Kanu's directive that all Igbo politicians should be killed. That's why all the top politicians in Anambra state including Obi and Governor Soludo are avoiding geting involved in it. Somehow I believe the lady knows her husband is dead. I think what she is seeking is justice for her husband; to ensure that his killers do not go scotfree. May God grant her her request.
