What you do is not done by everyone. Not everyone shares their knowledge. Thank you very much for your generosity. I have learned a lot with your three videos. I wish many did as you do. Thanks again Andy.

I loved that you included us in your less than inspired moments and that you left feeling as if you might not have got anything. I had my first day yesterday and was less than thrilled but still interested. This video made me feel heartened and in the ball park. Thank you for your generosity and humility. Appreciated. Now on to part two.

This is wonderful stuff and a welcome alternative to the mainstream of landscape photography. The shots with the castle are excellent as it’s still apparent where you are and what the subject is. The images bring a sense of emotion and full of interest. Such a simple technique and a great reason to leave the tripod at home. Very good vlog 👍

Thanks James! I wouldn't say I was bored by everyone doing the same thing but did see value in doing a similar vlog setup but with the twist that the final result is void of sharpness and all that gubbins to differentiate from everyone else. Glad you enjoyed! :)

Great stuff Andy and keep at it. You soon get used to talking to yourself. Just come across your website as I was looking into ICM info so nice you have put up a new Vlog. There is something about ICM that appeals to me and just cant put my finger on it but going to start experimenting.
@andrewsgray7 жыл бұрын
Cheers! Aye, giving the vlogging thing a go to keep up with all you cool kids ;) haha I love the ICM stuff, lets you have so much freedom both in what you shoot and nothing is too wild in the post processing, its pretty much perfect for me I get to nip out for 10 mins come back with 300 blurry images then get to spend hours in Photoshop etc creating works from it all :) I've never been happier with a camera than I am since I started making these about 4 years ago.
@davidd24326 жыл бұрын
You mention using f/6.3 and a 6 stop ND in these shots. Would the results suffer if you were to shoot at f/16 or f/22 to help lower the exposure, or did you choose 6.3 to add some out-of-focus blur to the foreground in addition to the motion blur?
@andrewsgray6 жыл бұрын
HI David, nope, they wouldn't suffer at all. Honestly why I don't shoot these above f11 is due to some dust spots on my sensor I just can't shift! So to save time I use a wider aperture and ND filters. Of course these settings change depending on light strength.

Thank you, Andy, for these very interesting and informative videos. Like many, I came here after seeing you with Thomas Heaton. Your work is particularly reminiscent of the impressionists like Turner, in particular 'Wreckers Coast of Northumberland' and I applaud your efforts in this field. I liked your approach to processing the images and loved the outcome - a very unique perspective on a well known location. I can't wait to get out and try this myself. One small criticism is that when you were outside, the audio levels were a little low making it difficult to hear. No problems in the later two. Nice to hear a Northumbrian accent on here too!

Thanks Alan. Yes this was a very early video, maybe my 3rd or 4th. I've made strides since then and also I'm more comfortable on camera as well as sorting out technical stuff. I need to update these for 2019 really...

Andy, when you began this video you gave your settings. You didn’t mention what lens you are using. I’ve got a Panasonic Lumix S5 and limited lenses - a wide angle and a 24-70mm and a 45mm. Which is best for ICM? Thanks!
@andrewsgray3 жыл бұрын
Personally I like a wide lens as I can move alot but still retain outlines etc. I do have some extravagant moves though. I use my 16-35 99% of the time.

Andy, another question… at what point, when you are moving the camera, do you press the shutter? Thanks!
@andrewsgray3 жыл бұрын
Not the most easy question to answer as it depends on subject, conditions and light... But if I an trying to preserve the shape of an object I'll press the shutter and then move the camera (after a split second), other times I'm pressing it while I move. Its just something to experiment with really Elisabeth. Good luck!

To the eye piece, so I can see the focus point. Moving your arm forward will have zero effect on that focus point, so either way won't matter :)

Hey Andy! Love you work. Do you think ICM photography is possible on rainy days or it is better in the sunlight?
@andrewsgray5 жыл бұрын
Possible in both. For years I preferred dull overcast conditions, now I quite like sunlight hitting my subject. Either way its possible to get good results
