😂 He's not even a great songwriter, much less one of the greats in any era or in pop. He's an incredibly pedestrian, run of the mill pop formula writer, and it's no surprise he primarily works with pop stars. There are hundreds of far better, far more skilled, far more musical, far more talented songwriters just in pop alone, thousands across other genres. That comment is just sad, ignorant and laughable 😂

Pablo Morrison we all did! It was on Origin, and (against the bands wishes) strings (not by David Campbell like the rest of the album) were dubbed in and it was on the final album. Instead of the band version. So fucked up, the labels control there.

It's really cool hearing you talking about those days. I was given the Fallen CD as a gift when I was in Australia in early 2004 and it really impacted my life at that time. I later found out (way later like this year) that they were recording that album in california around the same time I went there for bootcamp, then they did a show in Australia around the same time that I was deployed there. I have been a huge fan of Ben's work since those days, and probably 6 or 7 years ago I started hearing the older songs with you on vocals and that was some real powerful stuff. It's quite clear that when the 3 of you were together, that's when the most talent was involved and I really wish labels didn't get so involved back then and the 3 of you would have gone on to be Evanescence. I don't know all the history but I just feel like the music was way better back then and I still listen to the older stuff on youtube often.

@@carpediemearth First of all, i have no idea what's with laughing emoji! You're not one of those Evfans since 1992, are you? 😂 also it's not really important for me if you call him 'real' or 'main' or whatever member. You yourself are saying he's written music in Ev and programmed. Some of keyboards on early songs are by him. Some backing vocals on Origin and other demos are by him. He was in studio on Fallen's final recording. There are credits for him on multiple Ev songs. His name mentioned as a member on Ev's wiki. There are band photos of early Evanescence days with him standing next to Amy and Ben. And even if all these are not enough and official enough for you, he shared the Grammys with the band and received it on the stage with them! 🤣 So I think all these are enough to call him a past 'member'. If his influences and work in Ev isn't more than members like John and Rocky, it's not certainly any less. I posted that comment 4 years ago and all I wanted to say was that i respect him for not being a total jerk after leaving the band. just that.
@carpediemearth Жыл бұрын
@@DarkPrinceEV I didn't say he isn't credited, I said he wasn't really a real member as he was just a studio contributor Ben hired on impulse and was billed as part of Ev because he was there at the time; anyone else being a studio contributor then too would've been billed as part of Ev. He lasted a couple years before Ben fired him precisely because he realized David had no business being part of Ev as he didn't at all fit Amy and him (as Ev) musically, sonically, or in anything else. Ben: "We were just going in different directions so we chose to split ways before we built the whole image of the band based on somebody that wasn't going to be there". Also, Amy and Ben had already written Ev music since they co-founded Ev in 1995. David had nothing to do with their music before. David is a pop and country guy, he had no rock or or metal or gothic or choral contributors. Unlike David who did some keyboard programming and co-writing on several Fallen songs, John and Rocky were just touring musicians hired after Fallen was completed and had nothing to do with Fallen. Your standards are quite low that you "respect" a man for NOT acting like a jerk after leaving a band. That's like the most bare minimum.
@DarkPrinceEV Жыл бұрын
@@carpediemearth I am not denying the incredible role of first Amy, and then Ben on early days of Ev at all and I am not comparing what they did and the level of importance to David! but whatever you say, and however you look at it, he was a 'member' of the band. not just a sound engineer or studio staff! He's considered a band member on any wiki page and fan page. He's been on band's early photoshoots. He sang, played and engineered on multiple songs on Fallen, Origin and other demos. He got the grammys with the band on stage which makes him a 100% official member. Btw, take a look at the link i'll put at the end of this message. It's the middle page of Origin's booklet! I'm not saying he was as important as Amy or ben in those early days, but I think your standards are quiet low, to consider such person just a studio guy and recording staff! and I forever consider him a way better and well mannered and more useful member in studio compared to people like John and Rocky. the link: imgur.com/l4gtzGA

😂😂 David was never a real member. Amy and Ben created Evanescence in 1995 and were already writing their music, while David worked with them 5 years later essentially in the capacity of a session musician, an he primarily did programming and a bit of co-writing, while Amy and Ben were the main writers/composers. The two stated this themselves. David was only there for a couple years; he grew tired of Amy and Ben's moody sound and he wanted to do other things like country and pop. Ben fired him because he realized David did not gel with their sound. Also, Ben is a mediocre guitarist, even Shaun Morgan called him mediocre. Fallen was musically monotone. The Open Door is musically and dynamically far above Fallen, and Evanescene continued growing and evolving since with musicians far more talented and versatile than mediocre Ben. Synthesis and the orchestral-rock live tour was an excellent project, and The Bitter Truth is a great album. While Ben wanted to do the same thing over and over, left Evanescence and went to work with pop stars. Also, Ben himself: "Amy is very artistic and never has had a problem thinking outside of the box and defying expectations" ... "Amy is much more creative than I am, I'll be the first to admit it. I am a bit more commercial minded, I guess. ... she is more educated musically, and she wanted to explore that. I wanted to do that, but keep in the confines of what I knew people expected from Evanescence. I think in my immaturity at the time, I did that in just a way-too-controlling manner - it was like my way or the highway."

For me the best formation was amy , Ben, David. Evanescence b4 fallen was *Magic*. I love Amy lee voice but I can say I really like 3-4 song post fallen, the atmosphere never was the same... The simple, and not overproduce music, make Evanescence one of the best gothic rock of all the time.. If you ask me now evanescence new album has a magical voice with trash music. Amy don't wanna go back to origins songs because those songs mean the past of her and she doesn't wanna go back and she tell us she don't like It and we only want it because we don't have it... But the true is the teenagers band stole our heart forever... I mean after all this years Amy change their formation group a lot, just maybe she can have a high ego... Ben had mental problems but he gave her all the song permitions for free soooo we today can listen a good music not just for the increible voice for Amy, Ben, David help a lot for it Im sorry for my bad english
