Hi Lexie, there's actually a second way to get into North Korea. I'm Canadian and I was able to (via satellite) cross into North Korea as I was travelling along the Chinese/North Korean Border. I also legally stepped foot into North Korea a top of 长白山 (known as Paekdusan to Koreans) as I got to the top of the mountain that gets cut down the middle by the North Korean/Chinese border. Paekdusan is a 'sacred' and revered place to all Korean people and North Koreans say their Eternal Leader Kim Jong Il was born from the 'heavenly lake' that sits atop the mountain. It's a place of extreme historical and cultural importance to both North Koreans and South Koreans, and it is accessible to Westerners.

My parents have actually been so supportive. Since I traveled with them growing up so much, they had basically been preparing me for stuff like this my whole life so they were confident that I would be able to handle it :) Of course they got nervous sometimes though!

Not trying to burst your bubble to go there but please give a second thought on where the money goes. It goes to the rich government who helps keep the rest of the country as slaves and prisoners and by going there basically says you are supporting that regime. I also find it interesting and want to go there to see what its like but I will never because I don't want to support a regime like that.

Because of you i have started the trek to visit every country in the world. 23 countries down and so so many more to go hahah. This is one of those times where I am grateful for what I learned in school-my AP geography class. We had a section on North Korea where we would learn about the country. Out of all the countries in the world, this one being the most mysterious and haunting. Like another planet with humanity who don’t know we exist! Since then, I’ve just been obsessed with NK KZbin videos, vlogs of people who filmed inside, reading stuff on it. One day we’ll reunite and this divide will all be history! 😆

Good video! I don't want to be "that guy" but I do have one friendly correction :D At 13:40, the area across that bridge is still South Korea, an area called 도라산! But depending on when you traveled exactly, you can't go across due to pigs with African Swine Flu near the border. I'm not Korean myself but I just have passion for studying about the Korean peninsula :) 한국 사랑해요 :D

@@LexieLimitless to North Korea? :) Not yet! I went to the DMZ in December but the JSA was closed due to the Swine Flu. I studied in Singapore for 4 months last semester and met my gf there (who is from Korea), and I went to South Korea in December for a month! Among other things, your adventures were one of the reasons I eventually got addicted to travel and did all that in the first place! Maybe I have you to thank for helping me meet my gf 😂 Glad to see you achieved your dream!
