My Independence is a Problem // Living in my Car (story 12)

REGRETLYSS

Күн бұрын

I am officially living on the road in my car, more specifically my unconverted bus. I am pointed in the direction of Colorado, where I will build out my skoolie with the help of a friend. Immediately I run into a mechanical problem. The highs and lows of this wild life offer me perspective into an are of myself in which I need to heal and grow: my independence. Rather, my hyper-independence. As much as I don't want to admit it, my hyper independence is a defense mechanism, a trauma response. So as I drive further into the unknown ahead, I take the time to reflect on this and make an unexpected pit stop to visit the person I trust the most.

@@REGRETLYSS1 I have been watching your channel ever since my now Wife & I came across it. We got married August 14th 2021 and then went on the road for our Honeymoon ending in Illinois from Norwich CT. We made a few stops in NY, NJ, PA, Ohio, Indiana and of course Illinois in 7 Days. It was a definite BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING travel experience. When we found out "the Lucky Bus" was for sale, we jumped to conclusions that this LIFE is what we want! We have a YT Channel called "the Baez Chronicle" if interested. I will indeed be making more videos and staying informative to our audience. There is so MUCH IN THIS WORLD that a 9 to 5 job cannot do. Again, REGRETLYSS we wish to meet you one day. We were so close but we take this as a hint to continue what we love most. 🌎♥️

Great video, you are great. I've watched many of your videos, very interesting. I have done similar but on the sea in my own boat. A large boat I'm still refurbishing and fixing things on. But after 3 years and traveling the oceans I think it's my time to take it easy now.

Where did you dump that coolant? Coolant is highly toxic and should only be disposed of at either the hazmat section of a dump or at an auto supply store that accepts coolant for recycling.

Minimalizing dependency on others is good, total isolation removes you from fun opportunities with people, balance is needed. Protect yourself from a world that may fail you with government and centralised institutions, other people can still be useful, better judgement and experience is needed here 💗👍🇬🇧 much love ❤️

I think it's a balancing act; self-reliance also means you don't have to put up with people who don't honor you as you honor them. Anecdotally, the most self-reliant people I know attract the healthiest friends/partners. Irony: when you're strong enough to leave, you attract people with whom you want to stay.

Little lady please get a 177 air gun. They are sold at Walmart mart, air guns aren't considered a weapon so you don't need a permit to own them. The pellets are really cheap. They aren't a joke. Never pump it more than 12 times or you could burst the air bladder, they shoot much faster than a rimfire .22 gun but don't have as much nock down. I have bought a couple and they are just under 60 bucks 250 pellets are under $3 dollers. They are great for self defense and getting small game. They will easily drop a deer if you aim for the side of the head, Or anything.

But how smoothly our modern "thing" operates you wouldn't really realize it or maybe you would, that the guy who repairs the vehicle a person needs, but doesn't necessarily want. Nog to mention the other puppets who have bought into the worldly lifestyle, caught up in the smith and jones mindset were sold a bill of goods on everywhere we turn. Marketing the system of the beast isn't just in commercials, turn on the idiot tube, radio or watch a movie and were programmed to buy into the system. Those still working on the company farm, shopping at the company store and seeing the company doctor don't like to see others living a loving, peaceful and more free life. We haven't had freedom since settlers have crossed the country in Conestoga wagons. True freedom ended with the certificate of birth, social security number, and certificate of death was introduced. You can tell who most of the people are that are sick of they way life has become. They are either living off grid roaming, or watching the videos of those who are wishing they could do the same lol. Great comment, just thought I'd add the ones you didn't mention. God bless!!

Loved your Welcome to my crib part ;) You certainly made me smile, and I needed that today! 💜 I hope this won´t sound mean or condescending, cos it´s meant as an compliment (I find it hard sometimes to find the right words to express what I´m thinking, downside of being Autistic) it seems like an old, wise soul is emerging from within you, figuring out what´s been missing in your life and acknowledge where it comes from and why, like REALLY seeing it, and you are taking control and making brave changes for the better 💜 change is hard, especially when you have to dig deep within and acknowledge behaviors that´s hindering you from being the best, happiest version of yourself, but it´s also necessary to be able to grow into the person you want to be, to live the life you want to live and reach the goals of your dreams. It makes me so happy to see when someone is living their life fully in their own way, being brave enough to choose their own path, just like you are doing :) wise beyond your years. I am so grateful that you´re letting us following along on your beautiful journey 💜 and as always, I wish you all the best in life, relationships, experiences, most of all, joy and true happiness :) whatever that may be for you! I am sorry to bring this up, and I might be overstepping, but I just have to say, from the small amount of time since you and Dan decided to take different paths, you have grown tremendously :) 💜 (sorry bout the long comment, just my way of letting you know that I see you, and even though I don´t really know you, I care) Stay safe, see yah on insta ;)

It seems I have been striving for solitude and aloneness for 30 years and with my van under construction it appears I am close to finally making the break from the last 3 people I associate with (mother, sister, daughter). Will 2 cats supply all my required companionship? I am going to find out.

I've learned a lot from watching yours and other people in this life style and I am speechless, I am without speech. I've even started looking at truck campers, but, reality set in. And I sincerely hope this doesn't happen but the democrats are proposing plans to put a tax on vehicles for every mile that you drive. This would be part of the plan to pay for the massive " for the peoples" bill that they want to put through. Talk about ruining lives, and the thing is, the poorest people do the most driving.

Loved this one and your openness about self reliance as a protection mechanism. I'm reading a book you might enjoy called Love Sense. It's all about the importance of connection.

Girl, you're better than Sex In The City. Your intelligence, common sense, lone wolf, says a lot. That says a lot about you. I bet the same thing has happened to a lot of us. That's how we know you.

Nice video, and you are a beautiful person . I’m thinking you will have plenty of offers on relationships but knowing the right one for you will probably be difficult. Like you can’t see the forest for the all the trees or however that saying goes. Take care luv, safe travels to you.

Im a little late to the game here. I ran across you a week or two ago. Your way of looking at life has really given me insight that ive needed to look at life differently. Ive been given a chance to start over, due to a worl related injury. I have had no idea what to do or where to go...any why do anything at all...and its made me miserable. Time to change that! Thank you!! PS, we were neighbors or close (25 miles as the crow flies) when you were parked on the pier. Best of luck!

This video is very instructive for all who travel solo. Alyssa is brilliant - but being "independent" is far overrated. We are not built to be completely independent.

I guess we all have to some day ' find the way ' not as much on the road but, what's in all of us and our own journey thru life....what make us different and separates us from all the rest.....Safe travels and good luck on the rebuild...
