I am yet to be convinced on this vehicle overall, but there are some aspects of the vehicle that I think are excellent. Some of which are really very simple. The storage in the spare wheel is but one example and it is the first time to see that. One of the other things that I like about the Grenadier and have wanted other manufacturers to have done for years is the waterproof factory wired in connections for roof mounted accessories such as lights and warning beacons etc.. The airline rail in the luggage compartment is also far more useful than the typical hooks that other brands put in. These are relatively small things, but make living with the car so much more of a pleasurable experience when it is practical. The one thing that I absolutely hate on this vehicle, or any vehicle for that matter, is the speedometer being in the centre of the dashboard.
@grenadier_exploring
@grenadier_exploring Жыл бұрын
i totally agree with you Andrew. those small things make the car great. simple and practical solutions. I am adding airline rails to my custom roof rack as well….love the system (will show that in a future video). the speedometer in the center is something that you really have to get used to. for me it’s easy cause in the plane the engine instruments are in the center as well 🤪. since there is no instruments in front of you, the vision to the corners/edges of the car is really good. Some people say that they will fit an aftermarket speedometer in front of the steering - also an option!!

I have seen aftermarket solutions for the sparewheelcompartement for other vehicles somewhere. But i just realized that this compartment, as it is locked, even provides somewhat of a theft protection for the spare wheel! (One would need to pick the lock before needing an allen key before needing a wrench the size of the wheel bolts. On most other cars with sparewheel storage like that a theft only needs one tool.)

The Safari Windows are great, it would be nice if a second of pair of large Safari Windows were over the rear passenger seats, so someone could stand up through these rear Passenger Safari Windows, when Off-Roading to film or take pictures etc, or launch and fly or recovery a small drone too.

Hi Ingemar, thanks for all these videos about Loki (kommt von Lokomotive?) The last weekend I had the pleasure to test the Trailmaster Disel version with Safari windows.Due to the fact that we had pure sunshine and 30 degrees celcius here in Switzerland, these windows did not protect from the sun as expected and they heated up like hell. Did you made the same experiance on that? I think for days like this an additional protection (net, or sliding cover plate inside the car, or another glas coating) would be needed. And my second question is how effective is the air conditioning system? Unfortunately in the test car it was not working properly. Regards, Daniel

Hallo Daniel. Kommt von Thor&Loki (da unser Hund Thor heisst) 😜. I was actually quite surprised how well the Safari windows (and the Thermo/privacy glass in the back) shields off the sun. but for extremely hot days it might be a good idea to get some kind of sunshade - I've seen companies working on it!! that should be an easy adjustment. For me, the positive aspects of those windows outweigh the negatives. have them open most of the time cruising around, use them to ventilate the car while parked etc......AND you can see th traffic lights when you are too close to see through the wind screen. in my opinion the A/C could be stronger/colder at max effort. until now it was able to cool down the car but we didn't have a super hot day yet...i will keep on eye on it and report back.

How's your experience been with the safari windows, particularly in the summer months? Do they let in too much light and heat up the cabin too much? Do you miss the extra length on your roof rack? Any issues with leaks when it rains? Thanks! I placed my pre-order including these and the 3/4 rack, but now that it's summer here in the US, I'm questioning that decision.
@grenadier_exploring

I love the safari windows and I think the privacy/thermoglass does a great job. never had the feeling that the sun was burning through those windows (but haven't been to the hot desert yet - only in winter). worst case i would get some visors but i guess i won't need them. i had one occasion where a few drops of water came through on the first day i had the vehicle. it happened when the car was parked on a downward slope with heavy rain. since then - nothing! the position of the drain hole at the safari windows caused that. Ineos will update that on the newer cars! my roof rack (own design) covers the safari windows but keeps them operational. so i can still store things up there if needed. here's a link to the video about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIuYd2N_fqefiLs

I do. Recently i had to drive on the motorway a lot which of course increases the consumption (using 130km/h with the cruise control) but I ended up at 12.1l/100km over the last weeks.

FYI that's 19.4 MPG according to Google for us in the US. I am curious what the gas/petrol version will do, my off the cuff guess for the EPA numbers is 15 city 19 highway. We shall see fairly soon!

@grenadier_exploring
@grenadier_exploring Жыл бұрын
on one occasion there were a few drops coming through when the car was parked at an angle during heavy rain in morocco. since then: nothing, despite several times of heavy rain. The sun is blocked fine, some might wanna get some sort of sun visors. for me they are great in blocking the heat. sound is not an issue at all when closed, good when opened but loud when fully removed (at higher speeds)
