My iPhone Camera Is Black! Here’s The Fix.

Apple experts David and David explain what to do when your iPhone camera is black. This problem can be caused by the software or the hardware of your iPhone, so the camera may not necessarily be broken.
First, close and reopen the Camera app. Sometimes a Camera app crash can make it appear black. Similarly, if other software on your iPhone has crashed, you might be able to fix the problem by restarting your iPhone.
Software crashes are also quite common if you use a third-party camera app. Try closing and reopening your third-party camera app if you’re using one. If it continues to crash, just delete it - the built-in Camera app is great on its own.
There are a couple other less common reasons why your iPhone camera is black. If you want to use a social media app like Instagram or Snapchat, you have to give the app permission to access Camera. Otherwise, it may appear black when you’re using the app. Secondly, make sure that you don’t have any active Configuration Profiles that may restrict your Camera access.
If none of the steps above work, backup your iPhone and put it in DFU Mode.

Thank you. My new iPad has a cover that has a little flap that covers the camera. All I had to do was flip the little cover back and my camera started working again. I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t hear you guys talk about the case maybe being a problem. Thank you so much.

Restore through 3u tools it fixed mine also I installed Fortnite app the prosess has a soft restore that might help but you would need to had Fortnite downloaded before the app was taken down from the AppStore

If it’s in the camera it’s most likely a hardware problem u need to open the phone up remove the camera from top right and clean it if that doesn’t work u have to see if the problem is with the lens or the camera if it’s with the camera replace it and if it’s with the lens replace it

Here's one for you. My 75-yr Mom who is in France (I'm in Florida) buys a new Iphone 11 Max Pro (I'm jealous, I have the 8+). Anyway, camera works BUT the video option is not available AND she tried the Filmic Pro app and the camera is black-makes me think that it's the video part that is buggy. She did a restart, nothing. Any ideas, before doing a factory reset? Anyone else reading this and having a suggestion, please chime in!

Bro what I did is I just opened my phone and disconnect all the strips including battery strip pin. When I switched on my back cam and flash worked. Then, I removed my Face ID strip and reset my phone. Not helpful. Then I reconnected my faceid strip and wiped everything. Not worked. Then I flashed my mobile using ios14.7.1 with the help of 3utools. Finally everything is back to normal even faceid is working now. Note: Ios update juz crashed your hardware. Do not change your phone parts unnecessarily.

Recently I encountered this problem and have found a fix that solved it. I went to mobile repair shop and he opened back panel of device and looked over alignment of chips especially on camera side. He pressed every part a bit if any alignment been affected. And camera started working. I might had occurred by phone dropped and chipset inside displaced.

Ban Hammer JR. well I had another issue with phone for which I went to repair shop. As my phone dropped, camera chip alignment inside got displaced and took less than minute to fix and did for free. He might charge u but problem most probably with chipset inside phone.

Since I downloaded iOS 13.5.1 flashlight and the back camera stopped working on my iPhone 8. I did a soft and hard reset but it still won’t work, upgraded to iOS 13.6 as well. Nathaniel Garcia they said it’s an Hardware issue but they lied obviously. Did an DFU reset at home and tried it without my backup and it worked,but when I restored my backup it didn’t work again. Then I tried to delete all settings, that worked as well but as soon as I had all my settings turned back to normal it wouldn’t work again, now I’m still stuck with the issue

READ: My front and back camera is just black, flashlight has stopped working too and nothing mentioned above is useful for me. What I did is, go to the Setting>Accessibility and turn on/off the 'Voice-Over' feature (or turn it off when it is already on). After that, I opened my camera app and it's all working again, front and back. Even my flashlight, it's working again. I turned off the voice-over feature after that.
