When your iPhone is exposed to water, it's important to act fast.
First, wipe away any liquid on the outside of your iPhone. Then, remove the SIM card and lay your iPhone on a flat surface with some desiccants, if you have them. Don't put your iPhone in a bag of rice - rice won't absorb moisture, and grains can get lodged in your iPhone.
Wait about 24 hours and try to turn your iPhone on again. If it turns on, back it up immediately! Symptoms of water damage can appear weeks or even months after your iPhone got wet.

The desiccant packets work! Accidentally got my phone wet by dropping it in a puddle of water and used rice initially to dry it out, but then I decided to try putting it into a plastic bag with a small desiccant bag for 48 hours and it turned out fine

I put my iPhone 11 pro max in the pool for the first time in like 30cm depth and started blowing bubbles. I took it immediately out, let it dry in the sun. I washed mine in the sink for like a minute max and it wasn't submerged under meters of water it was like under running sink water for a minute. Although I was probably very dumb for washing it I had a good reason to. Anyways after I was finished washing the phone it was perfectly fine. I later on realized that it started glitching and acting crazy so I turned it off and it's still acting crazy so at this point I don't know what to do. By the way the phone still works but it still glitches at times.

Very helpful. I have removed the sim card and switched the phone7 off immediately. I then placed it next to a hairdryer on gentle warm air to try and get some air movement through the internals. Was this such a bad thing to do as I feel warm air passing through the phone must help to evaporate the moisture.. Just a thought.

How about putting it on the left edge, so the water goes away from the mother logic board. Gravity will pull the water away from the logic board. Take out SIM tray, and put phone on edge SIM opening up. Also put descants around the phone near the bottom to assist the gravity. The negative to this is that this will pull the water toward the battery. But if needed, a battery can be replaced much cheaper/easier than a mother board. What do you all think?

Hi Nathan! We recommend against pointing a fan at an iPhone that's been exposed to water because the air can blow the liquid further into the phone and cause even more damage. Investing in a desiccant would be a safer bet. If you have any old shoeboxes or shipping containers laying around, you might find a few desiccant packages in there!

I have the black screen of death and sometimes it does have haptic response. I have the gel packs with it. Sim out. All I did was rinse it after cleaning it. I forgot that my roommate had the screen fixed twice before. I was waiting to upgrade and trade it in when 16 pro max comes out in three months so I didn’t trade it two weeks ago. Now I can’t! So irritating. Water damage indicator is definitely red. I’d even blown it out with an air compressor but it stayed in the camera lenses.
