Well done. Concentrate on "Running YOUR car." Everything else is a distraction. You can't do anything about th guy behind you. A you need to know is he's behind you. Worrying about him causes you to mess up. Ignore him. Your driving is great!!

A good way to think about the safety rating system is like your team's bank account. No matter how an incident happens your car needs to be repaired. IRL in racing if another person wrecks you, you are the one who has to pay to fix your car no matter who's at fault. It makes me feel a little better about losing SR looking at it like that
@SarahNocchiАй бұрын
It's very true! But to be honest it's not so much the safety rating that annoys me. It's the iRating. It's what dictates who you end up driving against. And when you lose points for no reasons you waste time building it back up. Obviously it's the same for everyone so it's fair, just annoying if you get unlucky a few times in a row

one thing i've learned in the last 6 months of my iracing journey is simply... the higher the sof gets the more consistent/aggressive everyone becomes which makes door to door racing way easier to manage and not as nerve racking, you learn to trust the drivers around you while staying as close to the limit as you can.... progression is the name of the game and that game never ends, so keep moving forward

Woooo well done!!!! We started at a similar time and watching this video makes me feel sane having gone through all the same experiences. I've had 1 win so far and I jumped up so quick I knocked bounced the VR on my face it hurt :-). I personally hate the incident point system of iRacing and think there are a multitude of different ways they could approach it. I was flamed down in the sim racing subreddit for suggesting an opinion on this, it seems the die hard iRacing crowd won't have it any other way. In fairness to them though, as I've got better, I tend to get less of them now to the point that the odd race where I collect a bunch of them doesn't have a long term impact on my irating or safety score. Really chuffed you got your first win and I think the emotions we go through are what makes iRacing special, even with its poor incident system and fairly dated graphics

Great job, Sarah! It's hard work at the start and learning to drive under pressure is a skill in itself. You handled that last race like a champ. You'll take that experience into your next race and, over time, the pressure will bother you less and become more of an incentive to drive better. Qualifying up front makes a big difference, too, even if it does initially seem a bit scary having a whole train of cars on your tail. Been cool watching you progress. Good luck!!
@SarahNocchiАй бұрын
Thank you! Means a lot to hear that. I was definitely proud on that last race, and realized how far I have come already in just a few races. Hey Sarah, I analyzed your driving and I saw one bad habit that is crucial when braking. In every hard braking zone you're going up to 100% braking which would be the only logical thing to do irl and in almost every other racing simulation. But in iRacing it is actually bad braking 100% in cars that have ABS (short for Anti-lock Braking System). An ABS tracks your braking and automatically removes braking input although you're pressing the braking pedal to the maximum to prevent your tyres to lock. But in iRacing the ABS is taking away way too much braking force which means that you would be better off braking only 75% or so for T1 at Summit Point. How hard you can actually brake for a corner differs in race line, banking, downhill or uphill etc. The best way (for me) is using Garage 61 that tracks all your telemetry, so you can see, if you're in the ABS for a corner or not. Another alternative is using Kapps as an overlay, because there is a display that shows you, if you end up in the ABS or not. Best is to just scrape the ABS. And if you're driving a car without a built-in ABS, such as the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, you will see the outcome directly when braking at 100%, because then your tyres will lock up definetely.

You did an amazing job, first win against good drivers at a pretty high standard. Amazing effort, you're a good driver, can't wait to see where you head from here. By the way love your video style with the explosions and inclusion of text etc. It's your video style point of difference that drew me to your videos, great job. Mx5 is a great learning platform, GR86 class is a lot of fun but there are a lot more cars on the track to deal with. If your goal is GT3 at some point you do need to learn Race Craft and GR86 is a good place to learn this.
@SarahNocchiАй бұрын

It takes a lot of time to edit, so it's really helpful to hear feedback and know that it is worth the effort. Really trying to make the videos entertaining to watch. Thanks for the thoughts on the GR86. I'll probably give it a try and see how I like it!
@heldrin4968Ай бұрын
I'm glad you showed this. I'm a relatively new driver also and my experience was like yours. When I finally got enough pace I kept making mistake or making it to easy to pass me because of the stress. I found that my biggest progression came from working on my racecraft more than trying to get faster. My irating is now hovering in the 1700-1800 and i think that im racing too many series I might cut back. GR86 is a great step up from mazda because its not soo much faster but it's more stable and predictable , I think you would enjoy it. Right now I'm running the Falken challenge in a gt4 and you also race against lmp3 that are wayyyy faster so it's good to practice your awareness of what is happening around you. Hope to catch you in a race soon.

Really nice! Your lines look really good. What seems to be costing you a bit of time now is your braking. You seem to be locking up the brakes quite a lot. If there something I would take with me before advancing to the GR86, were I in you shoes, it would definitely be being more precise on the brakes. In the GT3s even though they have ABS, that is absolutely the most important aspect. Personally I learned a lot and gained a ton of confidence by getting my B license in the Porsche cup. But I am glad to hear that you are not in a rush to move on. More than 2 years after starting my iRacing journey, racing in the MX-5 remains one of my favorite experiences in the sim. The skills you develop in the slower cars are worth their weight in gold when you get to the faster cars :)
@SarahNocchiАй бұрын
Thank you so much! And yes, definitely! I have been working on my braking a lot and was doing great during practice/quali and then during races the pressure was getting the best out of me and I kept locking up 😬 I am definitely taking my time and making sure I am improving my skills and race craft before I move on to the next thing! The MX5 is a lot of fun anyways so don’t mind staying there a bit longer ;)

Thats me in P1. Good race for you. There's a lot of positives to take from it. I think your heart rate might be a big part of it. Breathe and try to relax. Don't be as hard on yourself when you don't do as expected. I know your goal was podium, but that might be the wrong goal to focus on. I'd think about what will get you a podium, which is almost always better average lap time. If you can improve average lap time, you are more consistent, and faster. It's easy to say, but harder to do, but try to remain focused on what is happening in the race and not what the result is. If your goal is average lap time, it will help you focus on driving the track well. Also, when you are fighting, think EXIT. optimise the exit, not the entry. Applies if you are ahead or behind. It's easy to overdrive the entries when you've got a driver chasing hard.
@iceniracingАй бұрын
Should have said first race. I would say that a lot of the speed you are missing is coming from your braking into T1. You don't need to be at 100% there. try holding 70% and see what happens. Compare your earlier traces with what is at 25.08. that's more like it!

Congratz! A little tip: when you lost the lead on last race, if you are defending a position, when you choose to take the inside line, you don't need to "hug" that all the way... just keep the inside until the car behind opens to take his racing line, so you can open your line a little bit and take a better entry. I mean, even taking the inside line, you need to be the on the most outside line possible.

Frstly mega Congrats for you win but also for all the podiums. Now you will find its easier as you know how it feels so you wont be as emotional:) If I may I've seen 2 things that may improve your defending. In first race this guy overtook you after you made a small mistake. You knew you made a mistake so I think you should go to the inside of your racing line and keep there. The guy being only a bit faster would have to overtake you on the long way ... mostly people then overcook the turn and they just go to the gravel. When you make a mistake and you fill someone will try to take advantage just simply go defensive. Also please please please after the race keep going normal speed for at least 4-5 turns so nobody can get you incidents points... all those hard earned safety can be lost in secends if you just stop after the finish line.. Finally, I love the content on this channel and you doing super job, you aim for the correct spectators with all the correct elements:) All the products that you have install they are brilliant for the channel or for yt videos. I just think that when you actually racing you should be able to see only he esencialls... all extra buttons monitors for a race time a completely pointless as its you on the track and 11 other people trying to be faster then you. The most important thing is the next apex next overtake and next corner exit. Keep going and get to C and then go to Advanced Mazda. 30min races will be much calmer for you but also will allow you to focus more on those being alone on the track moments.

Regarding the end of first race: Dont think of it as "I made a mistake, he deserves the spot" If you have to lose the spot, waste as little time as possible and keep in the fight. If possible, use him for slipstream and get back in there! Also noticed the entry into the slow section after "the chute" is pretty tight. That should be reserved only for situations when you have somebody right on your back to discourage a dive. You should try to open up the turn 5 more, so you can better carry speed and remain tight on exit while preparing for the right hander on its outside. Overall dont think you should abuse the ABS so much into corners like T1. Going 100% activates front ABS and it heats up your front surface temp more, making it grip less through the mid turn. You are doing pretty well, though. keep at it!

Nice job. I always loved this track. Have you considered doing an endurance race at all? They require a lot of planning and team work, but they are incredibly rewarding and fun. I did regular races up to about 2k irating, then started running endurance races. They were by far the most fun that I've ever had on the game, specifically the Nürburgring 24h. When you jump in the car there is tremendous pressure to preform as you could be 20 hours into a race and one crash could ruin all your teams progress. It's the closest thing to real racing you can find and the field races way more clean. It attracts a different crowd then you will find in the normal races. I'll likely get back into iracing soon to do another N24h now that the new weather system in implemented.

@6:34 I heard a Lewis Hamilton quote. He said “always think two corners ahead”. If you exit the right turn and hug the right side of the track, it’ll set you up better for the left turn after. Also, your hands were a little slow when you spun. Try to counter-steer with very, very quick hands in slow corners. Expect the oversteer and catch it with very, very quick steering inputs. Other than that, you’re doing well. Nice work

Amazing job at Race 1 and 4! 😁 Race 2 and 3 is so standard for iRacing. 😂 Trying iRacing at the moment, I have a few wins but I personally hate it. It makes me hate racing somehow. The net code is pure crap and having to think about my wallet after already paying a sub is horrible. For me it takes the fun away from racing. LFM, AC and ACC all the way!
@SarahNocchiАй бұрын
Thank you!! Definitely understand why some people would hate it. I like it because of the realism when it comes to driving experience. I think it's the one that gets you closest to reality, and that's what's more important to me. Even if graphics are crap 😂
@GarageRecordingsАй бұрын
@@SarahNocchi If it gets you close to the real thing then what more can you ask for! I think it's the pricing model that puts me off more than anything. Before this I would go on LFM and download tracks and cars for free. Suddenly paying £14 for each on top of a sub makes me feel sick. 😂 That's more realistic too I suppose.

I just cant drive those cars bcuz my experience is on Le Mans prototypes, F1 and LMDh. Believe me I tried driving the Mazda cup cars and I just couldn’t lol. I know you’ll get up there with us big boys driving the very fast and complex cars. Keep putting in those miles girl.

I was laughing my a*s off on the guy lagging behind you. I couldn't breath that was so funny! 😂
@theshawnmccownАй бұрын
I think if a player is lagging that bad, they should be removed from the race.

Definitely funny when watching back, but during the race I was pretty annoyed haha

Hi Sarah, like the heart rate monitor. Will do podium next time as you improve. I wonder if mazda would not be faster with H shifter? I use it for lesure driving in VR in assetto corsa, it's so much fun to use shifter. I like rear mirror jumping car, so funny. Lucky crash with it didn't register. Lap 10 she looks sooooo stressed : ) That's the beauty of simracing we like - the positive stress, competition and the finale satisfaction.

I actually think the 7-8-9 sequence is best for overtaking at Summit. Turn 1 doesn't have much space, and its so critical to be on the right line going into 3 or you lose so much time there. One other tip with the MX-5 (and cars in general)- dont mash the brakes when you overshoot a corner as a habit- try to just lift off the gas and tap the brake. That will get the rotation you want to stay on the track without rapidly putting so much of your car balance onto the front, which is basically a guaranteed spin that you either correct or crash. It's a critical skill if you step up to GT cars too, so best to learn it in the MX-5 which is relatively tame.

Great job! I also just started a month ago if that. 3.50 and 1770 as of today in sports cars. Making progress. G923 getting pushed to its limits. lmao

I've been on many race tracks and have been told, on straights take a deep breath, relax and refocus, check your gauges, and tap your brakes lightly just before the turn to make sure you still have brakes Of course in iRacing, forget the last two 😅
@SarahNocchiАй бұрын
Well the deep breaths are definitely a natural thing for me haha

going from 1500 to 2000 is a huge step so don't stress too much. This will especially difficult as you try new cars - which you definitely should. A better target now, would be getting through your licences up to A - at this point this is more important because it opens up more and more race series for you to try. The Toyota GR86 is a great next car, and then look at the GT4's which will naturally lead to GT3'sand LMP2's - Enjoy your journey - thats the main thing.

@@SarahNocchi Nah, luckily not, but was close, that one guy almost hit you as you stopped. I always drive a few corners, 2-4, then stop on the side and exit to pits. Great job on getting your 1st WIN, those are the ones you remember. Once you get to the 2.5k irating, the lobbies are way better quality. Keep up the good driving.
