Thanks for this one. I've been interested in checking out the jettys around here, especially on days that are too rough to take the kayak out, but don't know where to begin. This is super helpful. Good stuff as always!

Just getting back into fishing. Looking for a rod/reel size. I mainly fish for striped bass/bluefish, I usually use a jerk bait/top water and sometimes a rubber shad and some spoons. Need a all around suggestion that won’t hurt that bank.
@TheLawlessTide Жыл бұрын
I would just look for a medium/light to medium 8' rod and maybe pair it with something like a penn spinfisher 4500.

Has the Lees Super Duty handled the salt pretty well? I have some I use for bass fishing but wasn’t sure how well they were sealed up to handle any salt that may find its way inside. Love the channel!

I do a ton of jetty fishing myself. And I've got a few tips/tricks. 1. Use plastic tackle trays for your terminal tackle and lures and put them in a dry bag with your leader, truck keys, pliers, sinkers, etc... if you fish a jetty enough you will get soaked sooner or later. 2 if you fish live bait like I do take a small chlorine bucket or similar 2 1/2 gallon bucket make sure it's clean. Get a Tupperware that will fit your Aerator I recommend a Quiet Bubbles or Hush Bubbles and use a stainless bolt, locknut, and 2 washers to secure it to your lid of your bucket. Drill a hole to let run the aquarium tubing through and one more hole to allow air through the container. I've gotten 5+ years out of aerators doing this. And you can replace the bucket handle with a good piece of rope and some rubber conduit for a handle seeing as the plastic one will fail at some point. 3 wear the appropriate shoes!! The wrong shoe can cost you big. A bad spill on the rocks and barnacles your in trouble. I like Xtra Tuff boots personally. And one more thing to note is make sure the conditions are right and your physically capable of climbing the jetty.
