Hunting is like one of those things similar to fishing, enjoying the Creator’s creation. It’s not always about the harvest but being blessed to have the opportunity to see things you typically don’t see. Enjoy your hunting.

Loved this! Very raw and honest. As an upland game bird hunter, I can relate. Harvesting a beautiful bird or deer can be such a spiritual moment too and I thought it was very appropriate to include your prayer of thanks with Sam. On a related note, I usually take it for granted but I just want to say thank you for always providing 100% clean entertainment. There's never a swear word. That's not the norm. I never have to worry about watching one of your videos and it's appreciated.

You did great with your bow, Jay!! Congratulations!! The first animal I harvested with a bow was over 30 yrs sgo, I was in my early 20's and called in a spiker Bull Moose. I made the shot as he passed me broadside and the arrow went through the animal, right through his engine room. I bawled my eyes out for a few minutes and then thanked him for his life. That Bull provided 3 families with meat over a winter. There have been Moose, deer and an elk since, but you never forget your first bow harvest. Once again, congratulations and I guess Welcome to a group who really hunts, be warned though, archery and bow hunting are extremely addicting, in the best way possible!! Enjoy that venison!!

I grew yup meet hunting. So hunting was fun at first but it was never hunting it was what we had to do to eat. I lost the love for it years ago. But sense my son has come to be old enough to hunt and wanted to I started helping him. We are in a very different financial situation then my parents were back in the 80’s and 90’s. I 1000% agree with you it’s not the killing you fall in love with. It’s the prep the scouting the setting up and our favorite the checking of the trail cameras. Now my love for hunting has returned 100 time full and I don’t even pull the trigger. But watching my son and two little girls be passionate about hunting and all that goes with it has brought that love back for me.

I love how you captured the beginning to the end. I havent reached into big game hunting really yet. I am still 90% angler, 10% hunter and I stick to small game. Perhaps because that's all my father did. I believe I would need a mentor to hunt with and learn from, someday... its bucket listed.

Hey Bud. Just watched your epic hunt of that doe. I have to say that was a really great video. You can see your remorse for the deer. You didn’t say it. But you can see it. Which is good. Alright, I was hoping that you would be a bow / deer hunter as well. I grew up fishing and hunting and it kept me out of a bunch of trouble as a youth. More people need to get into it. I live in Ohio and we have great bow hunting and fishing as well with Lake Erie. Get to know the bone structure of the deer and where the heart and lungs are on the deer. Their is more room to get closer to the front shoulder without actually hitting the shoulder. But for your 1st deer with a bow, great job. Looking forward to seeing your next bow video. Love the saying grace at the end as well. You guys up their in Canada have some of the most beautiful land in all of the world. Enjoy it

I enjoyed the fact that you mentioned that you hoped the deer didn’t suffer too much. Too many hunters go out there especially during gun season and just blast away at them. Not caring if they simply injure the deer. I have seen way too many deer out in the woods wounded and suffering because some don’t take the extra time to make a good shot. I’ve always wanted to make sure to make the best shot possible to make it as quick as possible for the deer. I feel I owe it to them as I am taking their life. I should make it as painless and quick as possible.

The broadhead opened. This often is the case with front deploy mechanical. I've used the same one and they close up AFTER they go through something. Its very disconcerting to see it lying there closed I know. But it did open. Also, since you were level on the ground the blood trail will almost always be more sparse than shooting out of an elevated stand hecause the deer has to fill up with blood before it bleeds much versus a low hole on one side. 3rd, the next rabbit hole to go down as a bowhunter is ditching the mechanical and flimsy arrow for a heavy arrow fixed blade setup and your own arrow build. Check out the Ranch Fairy here on KZbin. Awesome video loved it.
