This is so warming because I also have this disease. I feel happy that someone can understand me with this thing that can limit us. But at the end it won’t stop us

I’m so sorry you had a difficult stage during and after the disease. It sounded you had a harder time than I did. But this can also be a learning for us and just live in a different perspective. You are an duke to me about dealing with it better than me. Make more amazing music and you have many things ahead of you. 🙃🙃

Hello from the UK and well done for speaking about it. I was diagnosed in my teens and at the time I thought I was the only one with this weird unheard-of disorder but after time it became apparent that it more common than you think... I'm now in my 40s and with medication and changes in diet its under control for now. Stay positive and doing what you're doing👍❤️

You're welcome, Karsen! Thank YOU! I had a friend with this, and she never told me, a guy, or our mutual friends. I had to find out once she became BFFs with my sister--who has to take medication for lupus--that she in fact wore a colostomy bag... I remember just me helping her move once. Lifting couches, and mattresses, and dressers, with no hint of disability! My friend was afraid and ashamed to share her condition with me and others, which made me ashamed. But she was so strong, it didn't show. Like you! Even as you were talking about your teeth--with that wonderful smile--still hurting from the Prednisone, I remember my sister taking it for lupus. And all this time, I thought you were just a musically gifted, imp of a prankster, always trying to fool your parents 🥲

Thanks for sharing. You're strong and you've been so much that many wouldn't imagine. I'd just like to say that have more faith in your body and that all the cells all organs are working in your favor to get you out of this forever. I am relieved to hear that you are in remission. let's affirm this daily, that the worst is behind you and with each passing moment, you're moving further and further away from this experience and into a new healthy and prosperous life experience :) all the best!

Hey Karsen! I would love to talk sometime about your experiences with UC if you’d want to. I have really severe Crohn’s I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 14/15…freshman year of HS…and life has been pretty rough since then. I was only 4’10”ish going into HS and like 65lbs (bc of the Crohn’s). Needless to say I was an easy target for bullying, so that just made everything else even harder. I honestly just kept my head down and pushed through. Things did get easier as I was being treated now for my Crohn’s and start socializing more. I ended up graduating at the top of my class and was the class salutatorian. Then I went to Drexel University in Philly and try Crohn’s started flaring again. I was dealing with new challenges & obstacles regarding my health, but again pushed myself to continue and again graduate in 2012 with honors somehow haha. After college my health really spiraled downwards & I ended up in the hospital for 4+ months from severe malnutrition as a result of the Crohn’s. My body was shutting down & I had extreme heart failure, so bad that when I went to the hospital the doctors in the ICU told my family that I wouldn’t make it. Somehow I fought hard & pulled through, while also having to relearned to walk. During the next several years, I had more near death experiences…having to go on a ventilator 3 times (2017 double lung staph pneumonia…2019…bad liver infection that needed a drain put in and developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome aka ARDS…& 2020 when my hepatic artery in my liver ruptured & I was bleeding out of every orifice). I miraculously overcame all of those things and now here I am writing this!🙂💜🙏🏼

Thank you for sharing your stories with us. I can't imagine what it is like for you, being 15/16, and then being told "you have a lifelong disease that you're going to have to find and figure out a way to live with". As for your so-called high school "friends", unfortunately, there will always be people who are shallow like that. But, for your friend that you sat with, who supported you and she might not know -- I might make the small suggestion to see if you can find her and tell her. It might make her day, you know? My best friend knows a LOT of stuff about me. Bad stuff. Stuff that I did when I was a teenager as well. And in many ways, I am somewhat surprised that despite her knowing said stuff about me, that she's still my best friend. That means a lot to me. I'm sorry to hear about your roller coaster ride with the various mediations that you've tried, but I understand that from the medical perspective, their goal was to get the inflammation and the bleeding under control so that you don't end up bleeding to death (basically). I appreciate you taking the time to record this video, and to share with us your very personal medical history about your case with a bunch of otherwise, random strangers. You're awesome. You're beautiful, both inside and out. And I love your music! (I'm always wondering when are you going to drop your next song. :) ) I wish you the very best. (P.S. I've seen the videos of you pranking your mom in song, so I can totally picture it when she says "Karsen. That's not funny." Your parents sound very chill. You and your family sound like the type of people that I would like to hang around with because you guys are so chill, and a bit of a happy-go-lucky kind of a family, despite the trials and tribulations between your medical journey and also the journey with your brother. *hugs* from Canada)
