A new Donkey Kong is my prediction/hope. I would be ok with a 2D, but really prefer they take another shot at a 3D title, especially as Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Pokemon, all have 2D AND 3D options on Switch... and all DK got was a port of Tropical Freeze from the Wii U. Way too neglected. For Zelda, all I ask for is the WW & TP ports. Please and thank you. I can wait a bit longer for another 2D title.

I can imagine the 40 minute Direcr uses time to reveal the gameplay and go in depth a bit about the game for a release of fall 2024. Since it’s been so long in development perhaps it’s ready to show and release closely to the end of the Switch era. They have to show something at this point. Now or never feeling.

The game shot to the top of Amazon's best sellers list immediately, Nintendo didn't make enough physical copies to meet demand, and it sold over 1 million in one month, and that figure is only digital sales. Metroid Prime Remastered did very well. While there are no updated sales figures, I think its safe to say it sold a few million which is a lot for Metroid.

Here's another possibility for the holiday game: A new Mario RPG of some kind. They tested the market with remakes of Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door; the last holiday of the Switch would be a perfect time for one last test: is there really renewed demand for Mario RPGs, or is it just nostalgia for childhood classics? And yes, this prediction is absolutely biased by what I want.

I think because we're on the cusp of a brand-new system altogether, it'd be foolish for Nintendo to just drop a new 3D Mario of any kind at the tail end of the system's life, especially if right before the next one. Even if it were cross gen let's say, dropping it before us knowing anything about the next system makes 0 sense when 3D Mario's one of their biggest breadwinners by a significant margin.

Agreed. Would be very hard to capture the feel of the original. Super Metroid is tuned so finely between gameplay and ambience that I'm not sure how you would improve it. This is why I prefer when weirder/less polished games get remakes like Metroid II. A lot more room to improve.

I hope that Nintendo does everything in their power to make the name as different from the Switch as possible. The Switch was a gigantic step away from the Wii U, which was a part of why it was successful: its uniqueness. We need to see more of that uniqueness in the next Nintendo console.

Metroid Prime 4 could be a Breath of the WIld situation, where it's a launch title/early title for the new system, but also a swan song for the last gen consoles as well. Both Breath of the World and Metroid Prime 4 were announced early on in their respective systems lives as well. Just saying :)

We've already gotten 2 Mario Party games on the Switch. I know there used to be one almost every year, but I think we've had enough Mario Party for one console at this point. Donkey Kong, however, would be a big yes.

@@crinklyonion1410 I know what you mean, but 3 years without a Mario Party would kinda make me sad. I really love this series, especially Superstars restored my faith in ND Cube. It's been 3 years from Super in 2018 to Superstars in 2021 so why not one more in 2024? :D And don't even get me started on DK man, 10 damn years...

It would be a small thing but I think it's reasonable to hope for something about the new Layton game. Level 5 has its own event sometime this year, but it would still make sense for at least a release date to show up in a direct.

I think its going to be an OOT remake. Not a remaster but a full remake, because they wont be able to justify a remaster anymore but I cant imagine them not wanting to sell OOT at full price.

They would release Metroid Prime 4 on Switch because when it was revealed they stated now in development… for Nintendo Switch. They actually *have* to release it. But I do think it will ultimately release simultaneously on old and new, not that it’s a particularly unique take.

EXACTLY. That’s what I’ve been saying. If they cancelled prime 4 for the switch 1 it would piss a lot of people off who were waiting for the game. Not everyone wants to buy a switch 2 or can afford one. The idea of Nintendo scrapping the switch game just seems crazy.

To add to 2D Zelda, there was a cancelled Gameboy Zelda. They could do a triple pack of the originals remade and add the DOA. Pokemon did a similar thing with Z-A.

I think it’s pretty clear it will be a new Donkey Kong. The theme park is coming up, there’s rumblings of a movie, the amount of merchandise for the franchise has been going nuts as of late - all things point towards a new DK.

Okay so my predictions for tomorrow's Nintendo Direct are 1. Showing off the full-on remakes of both Kirby Triple Deluxe and Kirby Planet Robobot and also having new side story modes for both Taranza and Susie 2. Kirby and the Rainbow Curse remake but they could add King Dedede and Meta Knight as playable characters 3. Nintendo GameCube coming to NSO I don't know it might go to Switch 2 probably 4. A sequel or port to Kirby Air Ride comes to Switch and also adds new Kirby Characters including the ones from the Kirby anime like Tiff, Tuff, and Escargoon, 5. Kirby Battle Royale or a sequel coming to Nintendo Switch as a new Kirby spin-off but adding new copy abilities and new characters 6. Mario Baseball finally coming to Nintendo Switch but with a new roster of characters, new Baseball stadiums, and online mode 7. Something from the Mario and Luigi series like if we're getting a remake or a new game hopefully 8. The Original Mario VS Donkey Kong coming to the GBA Library 9. Super Mario Galaxy 2 coming to the Nintendo Switch to go along with Super Mario Galaxy 10. Something new from Kirby like anything new i would like 11. Something new from Donkey Kong because I would like to see a new Donkey Kong Country game 12. Tomodachi Life coming to the Nintendo Switch and also adding the Miitopia Mii Maker to go along with it 13. Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland coming to the GBA Library 14. Donkey Kong Country Returns coming to the Nintendo Switch to go along with Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze + Funky Mode oh and maybe having new playable characters 15. New information and a release date for Epic Mickey Rebrushed 16. Punch-Out Wii coming to the Nintendo Switch 17. A new Mario Party game with new characters, new boards, and new Minigames 18. Something new from Starfox because we haven't got a new Starfox game since Starfox Zero 19. Starfox Assault coming to the Nintendo Switch 20. Wario Land 1 and 2 coming to the GameBoy Library to go along with Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2, and Wario Land 3 21. Super Smash Bros 64 coming to the N64 Library 22. Remaking any of the GameCube Mario Party games which are Mario Party 4, 5, 6, and 7 23. A trailer for Mario Kart X on the next new Nintendo Console Switch 2 24. Wario Land 4 coming to the GBA Library to finish off the Wario Land series So I hope this Tuesday's Nintendo Direct will go really good and hopefully we can see some really good games coming to Switch before we move to Switch 2.
