I've had one of these for years. Got it back when shelf stereos were really popular. It was one of the best ones you could get at the time. Thinking about selling it and getting a Sony Xplod cause they're a lot more portable.

badass system, man i have one unfortunately i was fucking with it and it shorted somewhere, it still turns on but it won't play any audio so i got to find a way to fix it cause i love it has amazing bass and the subs don't have to be cranked to get it either

much better system?? this is a compact shelf system with amazing sound for what it is, two small main speakers and two 6 inch bandpass subs that rocked harder than most shelf systems with 6" main woofers and standalone subwoofers.

Thats amazing I got one for $30 last month , eve though its missing a few knobs its a pretty cool stereo how much did it cost new and what year did it come out 2001? Lol when I saw it I got nostalgia because I hadn't seen this stereo since my childhood or about 10 years ago and remembered this particular model, its great.

I have the jvc mx-gb6 and that gives off alot of bass and excursion when I put the rhythm ax on the speakers slide on the desk plus I've got 2 technics and a 700w pioneer subwoofer

@123XXFranco i think JVC and pretty much everyone but sony has Dropped out of the shelf stereo market...there used to be so many diffrent varities from sharp,panasonic and such but there's just no market for them anymore it seems.

I think I paid around $400 for this a decade ago at Sears. I remember there was an even more expensive one with more watts, but I would probably be deaf right now if I bought that one. lol This thing is pretty loud.

even today it sound better than most systems. now if you get cheap stuff it's VERY cheap. These systems you can find for around 100 if lucky and they sound incredible. really good deal.

Well the system is truly loud. I have moved away from that in favor of a balance of sound quality and wall shaking bass. And that IMO is better

this is pretty balanced imo. GT90 is probably the most balanced bookshelf speakers I have ever heard. plus subs and midrange have separate volume so you can turn up and down each separate. best bookshelf speakers ever!!

The bass is powerful and deep but shitty quality. I just bought a JVC HX-Z3 in mint condition and am so disappointed in the bass. Panasonic mini-systems from the same time period like the SC-AK45, SC-AK47, SC-AK29, etc. have bass with a bit less ultimate power and don't quite go as deep but their bass hits with so much more punchiness, detail, speed, and fidelity. The JVC's bass is so round, slow, bloated, and boomey while the panasonic's bass is so tight, fast, punchy, detailed, and CRISP. If you want to slowly vibrate your whole house as if a spaceship is slowly flying by your home, get the JVC. If you want the quick and hard punch of music beats, car exhausts, gun shots, etc. get the Panasonics. The JVC is like a big truck hitting something at 50 km/h or in slow motion. The Panasonics are like a smaller truck hitting something at 200 km/h. JVC's bass is more like an earthquake. Panasonic's bass is more like a shotgun blast.

shut up panasonics suckk. I have the SA-AK33 and the bass is alright, but very boomy. no foam or anything just a plain and simple box, and the midrange speakers are utter garbage. if you think panasonics are better than this then you need to rethink speakers lmao

Interesting analysis. I the have z3 and gt80 and a ak47 i would say the z3 bass drops the lowest and is the best in terms of overall audio quality. the gt80 has the deepest bass becuase of the band pass design. and the ak47 is more punchier and rounded in terms of bass but feels bigger than the the other two due to not dropping much lower than 60hz. They are all good in there own way. It depends what your after.
