In Riga at the moment for a week on holiday from the UK, love it. Been to lots of Lidos too 🙂 Just a quick tip in general, when pouring beer from a bottle/tap, if you hold your glass tilted and pour down the side, then it won’t overly froth up.

You got a non-alcohol beer, it is written on the bottle. I guess the whole fridge there was non-alcoholic. Many make this "mistake", myself including :)

Since I don't read Latvian, I really didn't know what I was getting. The "beer" that I did choose at least tasted good on a hot day in Riga! -WMM

@@WheresMyMap The whole fridge was not non-alcoholic. The first thing you picked up was a Kvass. A sweet fermented rye-bread drink. Quite popular in the Baltics and Slavics too. There was a LIDO alcoholic beer on the bottom shelf too. It's quite good. But the one you got is pretty good as well. I've tried it and it's good. The brewery it's made by used to be quite small, but after growing in popularity they've expanded nicely. Užava is their name, named after a village on the Curonian coastline. Their light beer has a sort of a pine-forest taste to it. Smooth and buttery. Their dark beer is a sweet mule. It kicks. I prefer them from the tap, if possible. Speaking of non-alcoholic beers, Here in Latvia they're quite good and there's different sorts, growing in supply in recent years. I'm more of an alcoholic beer lover, but the non-alcoholic ones sure put up a fight. The beer culture in general is quite developed here with factory manufactured beers held to a high standard, having a variety of tastes and options. And there's a mind-boggling amount of craft-beers from smaller and mid-sized breweries. Having a specifically beer-themed tour in Latvia would not be a bad idea. There's another good location in Old Riga, called Ala. (Cave) It's located in a deep basement on Peldu street 19 in Old Riga, not too far from the river Daugava. There's also great food, great beer, very folk-Latvian vibes with concerts and dancing sometimes. It tends to be quite crowded in evenings though, because it's a very popular tourist destination. I highly recommend.

Ok Riga was not so must go place, nice, but... Old town In Juramala, Latvia was The top 3 places ever seen. Venezia, Amsterdam and Praha at the Same gategoria.
