I always get a little smile when I hear someone in their 30’s say they are getting old! I know everyone ages differently but I still felt 21 when I was 35. If I hadn’t had the bike crash at 35 and a half years old I don’t know how much longer I would have still felt great before the decline. I was 39 before I was physically back to somewhat normal after having my surgeries but I really didn’t start feeling crappy until I got into my 50’s.

I am 79. Was run down FIVE times by cars while cycling. A Randonneur for 30 years. Don't get on that slippery slope! A few friends of mine in their 70's did back-to-back 200, 300, 400 and 600s to prepare for Paris-Brest-Paris. I did twice in my 50's. That was enough.

@@barrybogart5436 I miss riding as much as I used to, I rode every day back when I could. I could still ride more than I do if I could find the time but with my back I know I could never go as far as I did back then. These days most of my riding is the almost 1/4 mile down my driveway from my house to the mailbox. I never expected to be so old so young!

We appreciate you sparing us the underpants routine. I think a lot of us middle aged Dad's shop the same way. I'll hit up Duluth Trading every other year or so and buy a few T shirts of each color in long and short sleeves and a few pairs of their ball room jeans. The wife doesn't get it but after almost 20 years she's used to it. Once I hit my late 30's my preference for knives moved away from folders to smaller fixed blades just for sturdy ease of use. Almost losing part of a finger to fidgeting with a large Cold Steel folder had nothing to do with it, I swear... After seeing your vids and a few others last year I moved from the Izula 2 to a Creely Mako in magnacut for my daily driver and have been very happy with it.

A Shun Classic chefs knife was my first proper kitchen knife. I found myself starting again in life and needed to equip a basic kitchen. And so awakened my suppressed and dormant obsession with quality knives In the kitchen, on my belt or in my pocket. I really rate the shun. I spend an abnormal percentage of my life slicing chicken either for me or my cat with diet requirements and the Shun is as good as it gets.

The life videos are my favorite, tbh. Wanted to touch on Shun knives. I have one and enjoy it, but I have found that my Wusthof’s seem to sharpen quicker, and hold an edge a bit longer. This is not to criticize Shun, as they are at a lower price point, and I wouldn’t expect them to perform quite as well. Also, absolutely great advice for fitness. Just 10-15 daily, with just body weight is where it’s at, to be as fit as you need to live your best daily life.

Good lord! I can’t believe a walk behind (even a Honda) would go for so much. I guess I really lucked out with mine (also a Honda, looks to be the same or similar model). I picked it up used from someone who literally mowed 15ft worth of grass with it once a week for less than a few months for $100. She said it just took up too much room in their tiny garage. Dang, now I feel bad about it.

Levis Signature Gold jeans have a nice concealed pocket on the outside seam of the right leg. It zips under the edge of a flap concealed by the seam for security of money or small wallet. The pockets on the ones you are wearing look like what used to be put on "carpenter jeans" that also had a hammer loop on one side.

Great design for overall camp tasks and I have actually been using it as a versatile smaller kitchen knife instead of a chef knife lately just to try it out and it is very good at that. Would love to see you try one out and/or test it. Thanks for the vids, as always, and you look like you are doing well with simplifying your life and getting into a good sustainable routine.

I never really cared if handles were fiberglass cored, or wood. Until i took a cheap amazon fiberglass handled hammer i was using for forging, and replaced it with a wooden handle. And my god i never thought it would make such a big difference. But it was a world away. Also. Kitchen knives were always what i cared about most. I got into edc because of the steels. But just wanted to say. Most people underestimate a truly good kitchen knife. You kind of start to get an idea of how a good kitchen knife feels with a shun. But there are this a whole world of them out there. And they can put a dent in someones wallet just as big as edc knives.

0:40 you are experiencing why I as a lefty don't own a spyderco (yes I know they make ONE version of the pm2 that's left handed). Would be nice if you added some comments about ambidextrous usability in your videos. With folding knives it's usually somewhat obvious, but it's unbelievable how many fixed blades don't have any options for left handed sheaths. Even kydex sheaths can't always be switched around and you often don't know for sure until you get it in your hands.

Gday Pete, a bit in this one mate, ...... a hump'n good vid : ) I can tell you as an ex-sparkie. being invited to peoples homes on a daily basis, many, many folks dont pay nearly enough attention to, lets say a, "health and well being" regimen. Doesn't mean one has to train and eat like an elite athlete, but in this day and age, use what is scientifically established as a benefit, (mind you more research is needed, especially in the herbs and spices department IMO). Hey man, I reckon your own body weight is the only "gym" equipment you ever need; bicycle sit ups are a perfect example. Try hand stand push ups without a wall, ..... now that's a challenge, I'll be be buggered if that's even worth aiming for lol. Yep Kayaking is a ripper, (pardon the pun), for upper body, great fun too and simply walking for the legs, cycling, maybe some squats, does the business down below. Main thing is, what ever you do, and indeed noth'n new, is start real slow, and add a few repetitions/more, distance gradually over weekly or fortnightly intervals. Btw; I actually got "poo pooed" for supporting your Honda purchase, yes Victa has always seen me through, but I'm well aware that the Honda jobs are next level again, albeit for a few extra hundred drachma ... but the proof is in the pudding mate, .... good call !!! Sadly, it seems, the Spydys are in your veins ........ we can only take 'em as we find 'em I guess. Cheers Duke.
