The Nairobi Airport customs is known to be very corrupt, especially towards tourists. I was compelled to pay approximately $400 in fabricated tax fees for personal, used computer monitors. Reflecting on the situation, I wish I had recorded the customs agent explaining the taxes, obtained a printed copy of their report, and recorded myself signing the document. Alternatively, leaving the monitors at the airport with a photo of the agent next to them might have been a better course of action. By paying, you effectively admit guilt, and there is little chance of getting your money back. Unfortunately, there is no legal system to provide assistance in such cases.

If you're a Kenyan and have receipt for renewing your expires passport and they force you to pay visa like a foreigner then what's there to praise the authority for?

What happens should one have about one thousand British pounds in cash on arrival. Would that be braking the law?
@TravelwithEvaMtalii10 ай бұрын
No. Only equivalent of $10,000+ you must declare

@TravelwithEvaMtalii Thank you, Eva. That's a reasonable amount. That is about 8 to 9 thousand pounds.(£) Still below $10 thousand dollars.

It should apply only on new items, and if they are more than 2 different items(of a similar nature), that is what the policy said.
