Some additional info that didn't make it into the video, but I thought would be useful to know: ➡ How I saved up for LASIK: I actually hadn’t saved up the full amount when I went for my surgery back in March. However, I had been saving up since last year, so by the time it was close to my surgery day, I had saved about $2.3k. At this point, what I decided to do was to borrow from my Emergency Fund to make up the difference that I had yet to save. I did this for the following reasons: Firstly, after borrowing $2k, I would still be left with at least $10k of Emergency Funds, which is the minimum amount I would be comfortable with having before I start dipping into it for anything that is not an emergency. Secondly, I already had a plan on how I will be able to repay myself in the next few months. So I could keep saving about $400 for 5 months before I reach $2000, but that would mean that I would do the procedure 5 months later. I decided to do the procedure now, and then pay myself back $400 for 5 months to replace the $2000 that I borrowed from myself. I hope that makes sense. Thirdly, I just wanted to do it earlier. I didn’t know how my work schedule was going to look like in 5 months, but I knew that my work schedule at the time was manageable, and so I could take 1 week of MC without worrying too much. Those were all my reasons that informed my decision. I also managed to pay myself back much quicker than planned. Alternatively, I could have also taken a credit card instalment plan, but I’d rather take a loan from myself than a loan from the bank. ➡ Why didn’t go to this or that clinic / public hospital, which would be cheaper? I already know multiple people and close friends who have gone to Clearvision and had a good experience. I wasn’t comfortable trying out a clinic that I haven’t heard anything about from people I trust. It’s really up to your personal preference and what you prioritise - I value reliability, convenience, and assurance, and so I’m willing to pay more for that. (I also hardly ever have good experiences in public hospitals, both from personal experience and hearing other people’s stories. I would prefer not to step into a hospital if I can avoid it.)

Thank you for the helpful video. I recently had the same type of surgery at the same clinic, and today marks my 9th day post-surgery. My vision is still blurry, and I'm feeling frustrated with the slow recovery process. I’ve already returned to work, but the unclear vision is affecting my job. Before undergoing TransPRK, I heard from friends and colleagues about quick recoveries, but I didn’t fully realize that different types of vision correction surgeries have varying recovery times. I now understand that TransPRK requires more patience for a full recovery, so I'm trying to stay patient as my vision heals.

I relate, and this is such a helpful video on one’s expectations post surgery!! Perhaps some friends i spoke to had miraculous recovery speeds and their eyesights stabilised like in a week 😳 - but mine really stabilised fully only in about 3 months. And the interim did make me feel quite anxious of course thinking if it was me and i would be blind and all the work expectations etc. But yeah afterwards everything gradually improved and it’s been great

@halpimalive
@halpimalive Жыл бұрын
@@tshepophala4189 i don’t have it currently post full recovery. But definitely during the recovery process my vision wasn’t always crystal clear and it would get blurry sporadically. But if you’re asking if I get any floater-looking type of cloudiness, nope! It’s more of a general blur vision

Such a helpful video. I had my Relex Smile procedure done in 2016 and 6 years post-op, my eyes are still dry (my own mistake for not putting eyedrops as often) Before my procedure, my eye degree was quite high, ranging 800 - 900 per eye, after the surgery, eyesight is not 20/20, I did regain 98% of my eye sight back. Initial recovery did take faster (around 2 days). There has been an increase in power again gradually and I have to wear glasses when I am driving (started this year). I am going back to my eye doctor to see if they can do a second procedure for me (it is part of their contract to ensure I have 20/20 vision). So any updates I may have on my channel in the future.

such insightful helpful video to manage my own expectation and post-lifestyle change. I just got trans prk last week. Anyway, may I check for your case, how many months did it take you to see clearly without blurry vision? My case is high myopia with strong prescription of 8.0 and astigmatism of 1.5 and I got thin cornea so only trans prk followed by cross linking to strengthen my weak cornea was my only option. I also work a 9-5 so this video really really means a lot to me in this journey ❤

i’m glad this helps you! my degree was a bit on the lower end - maybe 2 or 3. it took me 2 full months before i stopped noticing my blurry vision and everything was much clearer! never had any problems since then. but since your degree is higher, it might take a bit longer!

Awesome informative video! :) May I understand why you choose the TransPRK over relex smile? Also, did you also go for the clinic's 0% instalment plans and which credit card did you charge the surgery fees to for maximum cashback? Thank you!

relex is more expensive i believe! and my friends all went through TransPRK so it was the one i had the most information about. i didn’t go for the clinic’s 0% installment plans. i used citi cashback plus for the surgery fees and managed to get cashback (this was back in march 2022)!

Hi Lisa. Ive done TransPrk (Streamlight) too. Just completed my 4th week and half way to the 5th week. - I still cannot see wordings that are slightly distant - words thats are nearer. I can read them but theyre blurry - reading the singapore bus numbers is blurry too. Until it comes quite close Did you have similar experience at about 5 weeks? Now that you are 10 months pass. How would you rate your vision out of 10? Is everything crisp?

I just had TransPRK 3 weeks ago and my eyes are very sensitive to light especially in the morning. I still can’t drive comfortably due to this. I wonder how many weeks or months did it take for you to get off the light sensitivity and how long did you wait for you to drive comfortably?
@LisaAdultinginSingapore
@LisaAdultinginSingapore Жыл бұрын
Hmmm it took me maybe 2 months to recover fully, but on the light sensitivity, I’m not too sure - because now I’m more diligent about wearing sunglasses when it’s bright outside! So I’m not sure if I’m more sensitive to light or not 😂 I don’t drive, but my friend who drives and did TransPRK wears sunglasses when she’s driving, so I would recommend that for you too.

Thanks for sharing the detail information and guides for those people who planned to do PRK. Just wondering do they provide post OP care kit or any eye shield to protect your eye while you sleep (to prevent rubbing your eyes) ? And how is your vision so far?
@LisaAdultinginSingapore
@LisaAdultinginSingapore Жыл бұрын
hmmm, the clinic provides the initial set of medicated eye drops, including saline eyedrops to help lubricate your eyes if they're dry. they also provide a really solid pair of sunglasses that blocks out most of the light from entering your eyes! they told me i didn't have to wear it indoors, but i still wore it indoors and when i was sleeping to prevent any accidents (e.g. hitting my eye in my sleep). so far my vision is great, and no issues so far! some dryness which is common, but nothing that impedes function or that is too uncomfortable.

@LisaAdultinginSingapore
@LisaAdultinginSingapore Жыл бұрын
hi, yes i did!! and my near vision is also not as clear as it was pre surgery. my friend had the same experience too. i asked the doctor and he said it has smth to do with the eye muscles being less flexible since we’re young - it’ll get better as we age. for me, it’s rly when i put things super close to my face that it becomes blur. and overall it took me about 2 months to heal and have my computer vision not be blurry anymore!
