The tower you saw from Dataran Lang in Kuah is called MAHA Tower, a communication and observation tower.

I feel that are there are more beautiful tropical islands in Malaysia, besides Langkawi, there are Tioman, both are duty free Islands, Kapas, Perhentian and Redang islands on the east coast and the islands near Semporna in Sabah.

Langkawi is Malaysia's best island in terms of activities and things to do but hands down Perhentian is by far the best and the water is crystal clear

That tower is Maha Tower.. you can go up to its observation level and there is also a cafe with a nice view there

If you havent been to Perhentian, redang or tioman islands in the Peninsula, you havent been to the best of Malaysian islands. Perhentian, Redang and tioman islands has a beautiful clear blue water, but the infrastructure is very basic and pretty boring

I don't think there is the "best" island..each island got their own attraction..Langkawi got its own attraction, many activities n quite developed compared to other tropical islands but islands at the east coast like Pulau Tioman, Pulau Perhentian got beautiful beach with corals n crystal clear water
