Just some advice. With Demasoni you either have 1 or 20. If you have 4 or 5 they will kill each other off. I've raised Demasoni for 15+ years and they are a challenge. When I had 20 they spread the hatred among everyone but when a couple died off they started picking off the weakest. Mine would bread all the time so if you have really good hiding spots you will have a hundred in no time.

Oh Ryo if you enjoy woodworking see if your builder will mentor you and learn that trade- Japanese craftsmanship like that is a dying art and with your passion learn it and pass it onto your kids. I find woodworking therapeutic especially after dealing with the world. Can't wait to see your future plans in the fish room!

Great Stuff. Maybe the outside roof where you grew those aquatic plants in tubs could be a good spot for a 'lean to' mini hibiscus greenhouse? I thought about that in the past too, it’s a great idea. Only two problems. First, the concrete building is old and slowly falling apart. Second, it’ll be inconvenient and quite dangerous carrying plants up and down the steep staircase. It could work though. Thank you :)

The sawbwa rasbora might be a little overheated if the fish room is warm, Lake Inle where they're from in Myanmar is subtropical with cooler temps

You’re leaving Japan?

@@RyoWatanabee yes, after many decades, I'm leaving. Last year I started the process. Found a home for Gonzo, my 20-year-old chili red arrowana, sold off my poison dart frogs, my geckos, breeding pairs of angelfish, mesonauta cichlids, goodieds, plecos and numerous varieties of plants. What's left are many pleco breeding caves, assorted pieces of driftwood, pumice rocks of various shapes, sizes and colours, some sponge filters, German alder cones, Kordon breather bags and other odds and ends.

How do you get those plants to grow so well? What kind of substrate and fertilizer combination you use?

I’m using a Japanese soil called Nature Soil. It’s similar to ADA Amazonia except cheaper. Currently using Tropica premium nutrition but will probably switch to ADA ferts once the finish the Tropica. Nothing wrong with Tropica, just that ADA is cheaper for me in Japan

I always tend to keep the reds, greens, blues, at the same percentage. I think that looks most natural. The rest depends on whether I want high light intensity or low intensity. So I have one running at R80% G80% B80% and another one at R30% G30% B30%
