I am mourning that there will be no more fabric hauls for awhile. I have spent my entire Sunday watching your fabric purchases, remembering what it was like buying fabric for my store , mostly going to New York and Vegas. I love your taste in fabric!

Beautiful Fabric haul! I love watching your fabric hauls especially when they’re in areas that I can visit! When we went to Miami this year, we used your video to find fabric stores to shop at! Unfortunately, for us we decided to go on a Sunday when most of the stores were closed! SMH! We did however get to shop at one and enjoyed it so much! So we thank you for sharing your experiences and look forward to seeing some of your new makes!

I have just found your videos and absolutely love them! I had such a hard time understanding how to buy fabric in Paris. Not speaking good French kinda held me back. I am dreaming of the end of quarantine times when we can go again though!

I think I would most likely buy the starry one. In place of shopping vlogs, how about shopping your stash and maybe matching fabrics with patterns or fabric Fridays with fabric from your stash?

Solidarity sister! I am going to try my best to sew as many fabrics as possible from my stash this year and make only a few budgeted small purchases. I really like the look of the last green spotty one although I am not experienced sewing with sheer fabrics. Any tips you have would be great! I look forward to seeing what you make.

Honestly when it comes to sheers and slippery fabrics.... STABILISE like its trying to escape. They tend to want to move a lot when sewing, cutting or just trying to get it flat. So use weights, pins or sandwich between tissue paper to get precise cuts and accurate shapes. The same for sewing up. pin it up, take it slow and you will be fine. Also for a first project try some thing simple... True/Bias Ogden cami is a good one for beginners/ mid and it uses a small amount. x

@@TheCrafterpreneur Yes, I need to try the tissue paper trick. I normally do use a lot of silk pins but it can be so time consuming. Thank you!

I was there twelve months ago. I went to Tissue Reine and loved it but the big Dreyfus store opposite was closed. Do you know if their is a best day of the week to catch all the stores open. I hope to plan another trip. Love your fabric buying trips.

As far as I know, Dreyfus and Tissus Reine (on the Place Saint-Pierre, down the stairs of Basilique Montmartre for those who want to know how to get there) close much earlier than any other shop in France (maximum 5 or 6 pm, instead of 7 pm, especially on Saturdays. Avoid Mondays, as many shops are traditionaly closed, so that the shopkeepers and their employees who work on Saturdays have to days in a row to rest every week like anyone. Marché St-Pierre's fabric shops are likely to be closed on Mondays as well. So, choose any day between Tuesday and Friday to have all the time you need to go from one shop to another (with comfortable shoes). As to the 1st "boutique" (Modes et Travaux or even DMC) in the 8th area, rue de la Pépinière, it closes at 7 pm, even on Saturdays. I think they only have a deal with Coupons Saint-Pierre so that they sell some of their fabrics (much less than on Place Saint-Pierre). Actually : - Modes & Travaux (Fashion and Crafts) is the name of a monthly journal (revue) for women where you find one or two items to sew, as well as many other things to crate (with clay, Woody, knitting... cooking) ; - DMC : is the French equivalent to Prym, that you may also have wherever you live. So, the 1st little shop, where you can easily find what you need without getting lost, is a kind of a partnership beetween a journal for women, a manufacturer of tools to sew or knit and a retailer of already cut pieces of fabrics. The fabric coupons measure 140 cm x 3 meters long. NB : when it comes to expensive coupons of silk they accept to sell you some half coupons (140 cm by 150 cm).

Those patterns aren't really the same you know. Their similarities are pretty superficial and they'll look very different made in different fabrics & colours. The princess seamed one is unsurprisingly a close tailored fit with a smooth and well fitted collar while the other is much looser and its collar is shaped wider and not so flat to the body, making it look particularly good with the back section made in that bouclé fabric. The boxier one would look good with jumbo buttons too - have you got any of those in your stash by any chance? ;)
@TheCrafterpreneur
@TheCrafterpreneur 5 жыл бұрын
I'm actually making up one of them now and you are right. There are some differences. I have a pretty big stash of buttons, but sadly no JUMBO ones. Ill be rectifying that shortly though 😉
