Diesel engines will die yes, but only after gasoline engines have perished first. Jokes aside, at least here in Germany, diesel engines outnumber gasoline engines in many sectors of this industry. These engines are so well engineered and so evolved that their efficiency, to my opinion, has oil companies and politicians, scratching their heads. The more efficient engines become, the less oil companies sell. This means, less tax collection for the government as well. A side note: Fuel taxes in GER are €0.4704/liter for diesel fuel and €0.6545/liter for gasoline + VAT (19%) on the fuel itself and the Fuel Tax. Oil consumption in GER: 2,400,000 bbl/day (2011 est.) 1 bbl ≈ 159 liters. So to my opinion, the VW emissions' scandal in the US, pure politics! They clearly don't want people saving on fuel. I came across your channel on a review you did on the Q7 (loved the video by the way). These AUDI SUVs will only be sold with the Diesel engine here in Europe. I encourage you to come to Europe and give the SQ7 a test drive. I could arrange a test drive for you. I already subscribed to your other channel. Cheers!

Thanks for your candid videos, I to have given up my first and probably last, 2014 Beetle, TDI manual. I took a long time finding it and I did enjoy it. However I found it's replacement a "new" 2014 Mini Cooper Coupe S at a Miami dealer that had not sold, I bought online and had it shipped to my house, it's not as refinded as the VW but it is very engaging. I am sorry to see you leaving the you tube venue, just to let you know at least I did enjoy your videos.

Today is an extra sad day. My Golf TDI is going back this afternoon. Appointment at 4PM. I am extremely happy with my new GTI, but will miss that extend range of the TDI. The best part of the TDI was that I only needed to get fuel around every 3 to 3.5 weeks. Now it will be more like every 1.5 to 2 weeks.

I really want diesels in the U.S.! Why is the E.P.A. taking these actions against a more fuel efficiency?
@DieselDrives8 жыл бұрын
+E. Simons Diesel fuel standards in the US are not the same as Europe. Refineries can get away with lower quality fuels here. Even though we switched to ULSD in 2007, we still don't have cetane standards other than what is required by the military. Diesel is already taxed higher than gasoline. Yet the air quality is not as "good" as a gasoline engine. It's made worse by what VW did. Now the screws have been turned.

I miss your diesel reviews! Why the demise from diesels? Do you think there is this concerted effort from the U.S. auto manufactures to restrict these diesels from other countries? I get so discouraged when I see the variety of diesels from other countries! They are selling all manner of diesels in all kinds of configures! I'd love to be able to purchase the GLE-350 diesel here in the U.S. Like they sell currently in Canada! Again thanks for the reviews!
