I’m so impressed with the white fruit bowls and the two matching square crystal vases and the prices you paid for them...oh, my gosh! They would look so pretty on the mantle with Christmas greens and berries in them. I love crystal on silver trays with candles at Christmas. Just beautiful. 👍💕

You found some amazing pieces. My favourite of all were the vases. My mother always taught me the ping test for crystal. Flick the fingernail lightly against the crystal. The more lead the clearer the sound. If glass it would not produce a dull sound.

Thank you for sharing. I love my crystal. Right now, it is super cheap in our local thrift stores. I just flick a piece with my fingernails to test if it is crystal. If it is, it will ring almost like a bell. Glass just thumps. Also, I carefully feel to determine if it is pressed or cut glass. Cut glass crystal has definite clean sharp edges and is more expensive than pressed crystal. Your water experiment was great.

Recently paid a visit to Columbia Falls, Montana. Went to some thrift stores there looking for something quite specific and found a store on the way to Big Fork and viewed a very 'stuffed' store and there was a cut glass/crystall sugar and creamer. Sort of thought I 'wanted' them but I was flying and space in my luggage already taxed with purchases while there, walked around lots of 'wexford' stuff too and kept going back to the sugar and creamer..a couple of times and decided to purchase the set at $3.50! I thought I might leave it with my family living in Montana....but reworked my luggage and made room and they are now 'here' at home, washed and shine like diamonds. Thanks to you for 'educating' us on what to look for..American Brillian, sawtooth edges, diamond cuts on the handles similar to the large double handled item you just talked about. Learn so much from your posts and how to know what is out there!!! Thank you!!!

I've thought wrong all these years. I always thought crystal rang and glass was dull. My mom and grandma had quite a few Wexford pieces. I don't remember if they were sold in grocery stores as promotional pieces or if they were an S&H Green Stamp thing. They are sturdy and pretty though. Mom had 2 Depression glass baskets, one green and one clear, that belonged to my great grandma. Not as ornate as yours though. They were always on our mantle by her oil lamps. I've inherited them and they're back at great grandma's house now. I'm nuts about ceramics, glass, and crystal, too. You and Angela sure found some great pieces. I love that story....I bet their just beautiful ...and yes I think when wexford came out it was a lesser end of the glass world ...now their vintage and antique and just have an old world charm ....thank you for your share 💘🌺🌷🎈
