Great intro to what appears as a beautiful floor standing speaker. $19k-$20 is a fair price for these puppies. And as you point out, this is the first high-end speaker to get bi-wiring done right with beefy jumper cables to terminals that are labeled. As I said before, what a concept. Shipping costs must be expensive, tho.
@OCDHIFiGuy Жыл бұрын

@dragocelander6671 Жыл бұрын
@@chrisrichards2827 I understand that. I’ve bi-wired my Dunlavy SC-IVa’s with the appropriate speaker cabling. I’m speaking of the jumpers. Most jumpers are a cheap ass piece of metal, not the beefy jumper cables used here. And I am not aware of any manufacturer who properly labels the terminal binding posts. That’s my point.

The shear velocity of shale rock is much slower than aluminum and less than that of granite. I would surmise slate would offer the preferred sound. There will be a variation in natural slate as there is in woods of the same type. It would be preferred that the shale should be mined from the same area and depth to maintain density as it relates to shear velocity. That would make for a matched pair.
@OCDHIFiGuy Жыл бұрын
Of course they are from the same area.. otherwise they would sound different !

Actually the SN/SL 770.1 were the speakers I saw in an customer-homevisit video of my homecinema dealer who was all in for stereo AND homecinema. That video back then did fascinate me with all the stereo gear like pre/amp, phonoamp, Turntable ... and combining all that with the homecinema chain. It turned on the FLAME for me Saw Fischer & Fischer at HighEnd 2022 and another smaller show, both were really not setup well, nothing really done in the room, no good presentation, no good music, simply turned me totally off even they for sure would have been a good choise for what I searched for. Also the slate look must fit into the room, me having a stonewall this was not my thing, but color is almost like my PSaudio and they wouldn´t have reflected that much as mine. Not sure the price of the 770.1 but they would have been my choise, I guess they would have been more expensive as the FR30

in the 70´s in germany ,having a entire neighborhood of german familys inside my town because we had a nato airforcefield at4km´s from my city some were crazy with hi-fi and electronic engeniers that repaired the electronic driving systems on militar jet fighter planes ,the word was bricolage ,they made in wood the most strange shape´s with parts inside that drived the frequencies inside the speakers ,they only had to buy the woofers ,tweeters etc. ,some had a speaker for each frequency ,measured in a wooden box made of the best wood ,it sounded amazing ,some built their own amplifiers with a clean and perfect sound and none that bought integrated amplifiers would kept them original they were all changed inside and bad sound i never heard from those guy´s some never returned to gemany and stayed in interior south of Portugal or hell because of the heat ,it´s sunny all year around ,beaches that no one would go to them so it would be filled with foreigners from several country´s of Europe this all people in their 20´s and naked , i never had seen so much beautifull women in a beach, or even younger , that´s when i bought entire systems very cheap because when some returned to germany would make a sale to sell all they had at home to avoid carrying all to germany again also some cars ,most of them mercedes also with systems aplyed to the engines that made them superfast compared to a factory car ,my first car was a mercedes 280S from 68/9 this with already a driving permit it cost me nothing it was ofered by a german friend ,i had at the time 4 cars before i could take the driver permit for cars and bikes(also had several)i´m talking about the 70´s and late 60´s, so if it comes from germany ,made of mud or any other strange material it sounds perfect , i bought entire systems with high-quality sound from brands like Blaupunkt, schneider, philips , grundig, Normende(this brand was all far ahead compared to other brands, i even had a tv coulor with remote by radio frequencies and wireless heaphones without any weight using the system now used on remotes)also from Telefunken and BASF ,etc.this with beautifull cassette decks that recorded as good as high-end models from japanese brands, i even bought a VW beetle with engine and interior taken from a porshe 912 from 1970 ,it was amzing good and confortable also fast ,but with care on the turns, geman guys know or use to know what they did ,this because everything was better after they changed them, there are hi-fi brands with almost no components because when released all are bought and they have to make more using only their hands and some machines ,if in the 70´s they were already far ahead in sound quality ,guess now

@@chrisrichards2827 from my perspective it’s not a matter of strength and longevity of the cone, but what it can do on sonic performance and purity by smoothing out peaks or other anomalies when necessary. Obviously in this application, there are other midbass drivers. That said, that midrange phase plug driver is crossed over to a relatively stressed-free zone, especially coupled with AMT tweeter will also play a little lower than dome tweeters. Of course different philosophies on speakers and sonic goals for every speaker with addition to a signature sound. IMO the ones who chose phase plug midranges in their designs have higher sonic palates.
