I just had this happened. I shut mine off to clean the mower deck quick and wouldn't start. I tried charging the battery it was fine. Came across this video so went out to check to see if the deck was engaged yep it was disengaged it and started right up 🤦‍♂️

This just happened to me today!! Cutting my lawn going down hill, got to the bottom to turn around and it shut off on me, tried to start and nothing 😮. Had my son help me push it back to the garage so that we could figure out what was going on. I checked everything that I possibly could and still nothing!! Mine is still under warranty, called the shop I bought it from but they are closed today, so I went to KZbin searching…. Came across your video and watched the whole thing, got to the end of the video, and I was like NO WAY, did I not disengage the blades, guess what?? I didn’t 😂😂😂 Just finished my lawn! Thank you so much! I guess just think of the most simplest things first 😂😂

My switch did the exact same thing and, your right, it does feel 'wrong' like you are turning past the resistance and getting no turn over. I started laughing when you checked the spark plug as it had absolutely nothing to do with the starting circuit. But the joke's on me. As soon as you said the mower was engaged I did a face palm and yelled so loud I scared the dog. Runs fine now. The only consolation is that I didn't pull this brain fart in front of my father in law LOL! Thank you and cheers!

Same here. I started reading the comments and the light came on!!! What an ID-10-T I can be sometimes. I hit a rock and the mower stopped. Figured I blew a fuse or something electrical. Couldn’t find the fuse so went to KZbin and came across this video. You have to remove the battery under the seat to get to the fuse. Who approves these designs anyway!!?? Very good job on the video young man.

Loved this! I followed your same checklist. No start. The reality of a possible costly shop fix was my worse fear. When you discovered you had the blades engaged, I said to myself, "Nooooo. Not something that stupid." Well, yes. I left my blades engaged. I also felt ridiculously foolish, but was greatly relieved for such an easy remedy.

This is year two of owning my mower and kept in the garage over the winter. I bought a trickle charger as I thought that was the problem. Charged it all up and nothing. Watched your video and bingo! Thanks for the video!

Thanks for this video and don't feel bad, I changed the Solenoid and the starter motor before taking my John deere to the shop. Now our second mower, which is 15 years old and a Cub, was running fine and like you just finished mowing and washed it real good, now it won't start! What the heck? My husband told me not to wash it :(

Well damn!!! My Dad was trying like all get out to get it started. After watching this and reading the comments, I went out and checked the blade engage switch and sure enough it was in the on position. I pushed it down and it started right up!! My Dad said, "Well why didn't you do that earlier?" 😂😂😂 Thank you for the video.

OMG! This video helped me indirectly lol. My tractor had the exact same symptoms but I'm my case, my xt1 has a lever for the blades not a pull button. Got half way through my yard and came back to the front of my garage to add a little gas to the tank...set the break on and turned off the blades with the lever (so I thought) and got off...tractor turned off which I thought was weird cause it shouldn't have. Didn't think anything of it...added gas and went to start and had same symptoms as you. Pushed it into garage...tested battery, checked sparkplugs, even pulled the ignition solenoid and tested with the battery and my multimeter to confirm that was working. Watched your video and at the end when you said it was the blades being on i instantly looked and the tension spring attached to the lever pivot fell off and the blades were technically still on because of that...and that is why the tractor turned off when I got off the seat too! Reattached the spring... disengaged the blades...boom started like a charm. Thank you thank you thank you!

I also learned how to change my ignition switch, but I still don't know why mine won't start. 😭😭 I changed the ignition switch, checked the battery, tested the mower and starter with a jump box and changed my blades. The only thing I can think of is maybe a wire is broken somewhere or I keep hearing about a silenoid, (or sloanoid)idk. 😭

Ugh... I took apart my carb after running it dry thinking I gunked up the works. Of course I left it engaged after working on it for an hour! Thanks for the vid and saving me the money of a troubleshooting fee at a small engine repair place. Just goes to shoe that even mistakes, sometimes especially so, are worth sharing with others. As soon as you turned the key and there was no sound I knew it was a safety feature. Mine won't start unless The parking brake is on and I have to sit on the seat and the cutting blades can't be engaged. Another problem I had is if I don't use a heavy enough oil.. I had put in 5W30 since I had a lot of it for my car and the mower would die after 5 minutes of running and then wouldn't start.. When I put in just 30 it started running fine. One other time I took it to a repair place and the mechanic said that the gas tank was dirty and he dumped all the new fuel I just had put in and cleaned out the tank. It's a finicky lawn tractor.

Mine shut off while I was cleaning out a wad of grass. (Engine was on, due to low battery, but the blades were disengaged, and the parking break was on.) Now I have no power on the hour meter and nothing works. I did spin the blades to get a chunk of grass out. Still stumped. Battery is now fully charged yet zero power

It did gave me the idea to take the battery out for testing and that was the problem. It was totally out of charge and Advance Auto Parts charged it and all is good. And thankfully this is a free service. And this apparently was the work of my kids to turn on the ignition key and the battery died.

Really think you have an issue with one of the safety switches (mower, seat, PTO) you can verify this by running a jumper from the battery and touch the 12vot tab on the starter solenoid if the engine spins thats the issue you then search for which one of the switches is bad.

😭😭 Well I took out the silver thingy under the seat in the safety switch and it still doesn't start. The thing powers right up when I put the jumper to it. Check the battery power. It's good. Blades aren't engaged. Stupid HOA people made me mad so I cut the grass in the rain. I miss my daddy. I'm don't have the boy parts to do this...

I bought all those tools that reads electrical things and I couldn't figure it out so my beautiful mower with all the new attachments has sat for a year. 😥😥 I don't know who to call.
