Ive had my eye on this kit… waiting to see your demo before I give it a go. Changing the pickups is something I always hear from people who do these DIY kits. I was thinking of using a bridge pickup like the one you used, and then a full humbucker for the neck. It would take more routing, but I think the sound will be nicer

Sorry for the demo delay. The wife broke her leg and is in the hospital 100 miles from home. Has kept me pretty busy. I hope to do it soon though.

I like seeing wood grain in my guitars. The kit turned out great. Nice job!

Nice! I just built one of these kits except that I went with the Poplar model because I figured it would be lighter weight and I also wanted to put “contour” cuts into it like a Strat and I was planning on painting. I almost went with string-through as you did but decided against it because I don’t have a drill press and (like you) the bridge was shorter and I was unsure of the room I would need for proper intonation. Looks like you were successful and I’ll have to look into that drill bit you have. Did it give sufficient confidence that you were straight and perpendicular to the body? Anyway, I have some of the highlights of the build on my KZbin channel if you’d like to check that out and I welcome any comments or feedback. I’ll do a final review and demo in a few days when I can find some time. One more thing though, I think the “blacked out” look may be nice if your neck had either a rosewood or ebony fretboard. The maple fretboard would likely kill the look you were originally going for. My opinion anyway, I think it turned out nicely.

@@63stratoman Thanks for watching. The drill press thing I have was OK. I realized after I used it that there was a little play in it in one direction, but not the other so I would likely do a better job using it again as I would make sure to orient at the same way for a drilling every hole, but they came out close.

But you’re a pro Randy! It was fun though. I want to get some pullers and nippers eventually so I can take a crack at regretting. (Refretting….. Freudian slip?) lol Want a crowning file too, been using the 3 sided Stewmac thing with the rounded edges. It’s freehand and not as precise as I would like.

Very nice. Did you happen to get the nut width on this?
@WickedFesterBand3 ай бұрын
@@Emrys345_Guitar I don’t have calipers at the moment, but best I can tell with the ruler on my string action gauge it is 43mm

I can’t stop a project once I start. Waiting on my black control plate with switch, orange drop capacitor and CTS pots.
