yall are the ones who need to back off, shes legit teaching.
@Laura-dz1km5 жыл бұрын
To everyone saying she needs to back off, the description says it's a pedagogy performance-- for those of you that don't know, pedagogy means teaching. So this isn't really a performance for the kids to shine, rather a performance for her to show her teaching style and how her kids learn from her.

For everyone saying Natalie was overshadowing, I STRONGLY disagreed, I believe she was just trying to make them feel comfortable and not feel like they are by themselves and also to probably help lead the ensemble. Personally that would help me cuz I freak out a little inside if I’m alone on stage.

It’s a choir/band thing. It’s so they’ll match and not stick out. I’m in a varsity choir and the guys have black suits and the girls have long black floor length gowns all fitted to our body types. They probably just don’t have their uniforms yet. They also very well could’ve been dancing
@livdelgado30383 жыл бұрын
based on what they’re all wearing, they most likely did quite a few dance performances as well as this. All the girls have on boots, character shoes or jazz shoes and all the boys are in dance sweats and sneakers. the black was probably just for unification among them

I think it’s actually a good thing to have a teacher leading you the way with confidence in this example. Is it bad to use your jaw for riffing? Because I used to not to, but now I'm in the habit of doing it!
@sunset59078 жыл бұрын
IKR me too but it helps me to riff better i think :)
@MadeUpInBows8 жыл бұрын
the reason its not so great is that it can lead to jaw tension plus its putting more of the work on the jaw rather than the vocal muscles which should be doing most of the work
@samanthadauber67378 жыл бұрын
okay thank you!
@aznbryanc7 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is from like a year ago, but I feel like it's probably good to keep clarifying. ;) From what I've learned from my teacher and self-exploration and watching great riffers, it's okay to let your jaw move if it wants to during riffing. It's only causing jaw tension if it moves in a tense way. If you end up holding your jaw in a rigid tense way because you don't want to let it move naturally, THAT will cause just as much IF NOT MORE tension! To make some types of riffs come out clear and delineate notes well, it's not the exact same type of technique as singing legato as you don't want to make it smooth. For slower riffs, one may not need to use the jaw, but it varies on things like if you are changing the vowel in the middle riff or changing the color/depth of your vowel in the middle of the riff (I think Christina Aguilera is someone who does that a lot, and you can see how the jaw has to participate in order to get the sound right!) I think it's more of a balance of being able to get the transient engagement (a rather harmless momentary tension kind of like how we can use consonants). It's one of the things that allows some of the best riffers to do REALLY FAST riffs that still sound clear.
