In the digitech (digital preamp) you save your sounds and then you can siwtch between those sounds with that. it controls the digitech.

nice! Jack Owen of Deicide(formerly in Cannibal Corpse) used that same Digitech 2100 pre-amp for many years.

Sometimes I think about selling all in the rack and buy a normal amp. The Rack is very very heavy and hard to transport. I'm thinking about a Line6 Vetta 2 Head. But I have to test it first.

Yep, but I use the TRansistor Distortion. I use a epiphone Les Paul Special. Very cheap but OK.

excellent , I like this type setup so much better than a mass of pedals.

I don't own the preamp and poweramp anymore. I only use my Randall head now.

A power conditioner provides power for several devices, it shows you what voltage you are using and it prevents the devices from mild disturbences.

@damienro0 This pedal is especially for that Preamp, you connect it with one cable, power and data in one cable.
@slayerxv16 жыл бұрын
dude your tone is just phenominal
@schehf14 жыл бұрын
@coldironhands1 the amp can work stereo, so why not. my marshall cab is also stereo, 2 inputs. No, the preamp has to be gained by a poweramp, otherwise you don't hear anything So preamp, poweramp, cab.

Excellent setup dude! Keep Rockin
@schehf16 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the grunge distortion is the best for metal. The tube distortions are more for rock and blues. But of course this is a matter of taste. I used a Epiphone Les Paul special in that video. Now I have a new guitar and a new live setup.
@skrilla42014 жыл бұрын
@schehf yeah, that was the main problem i had with this digitech pedal i recently bought (RP 155). Its a newer one so it sounded great but the half a second delay is too much to handle sometimes....especially live.
@schehf16 жыл бұрын
It is a midi pedal that just switches the sound in the preamp.
@schehf16 жыл бұрын
Every amp is devided in a preamp and a poweramp. Means: the preamp makes the sound, the poweramp gains that signal to a loud level so you can hear it. In a normal Head both are included. But you can by those individual too. So the digitech is my preamp and the engl is my poweramp.

@schehf16 жыл бұрын

well, it's no exactly the kind of sound i look for but i think that my incapacity to get a truly useable distortion from my 2120 depends from the fact that i insist on using the weak tube channel! i have to try something similar to your setup, but at the moment i'm waiting for the engl e530 i just ordered...

@schehf16 жыл бұрын
The digitech needs half a second to change sounds. But it sounds great. In the studio it is great. Live I would prefer a Head amp.
@schehf16 жыл бұрын
A preamp makes the sound, a poweramp just gains it up so you can hear it on a cab. Without a poweramp you can't hear a thing. Without a preamp the sound would be clean.
@schehf16 жыл бұрын
Yes, only normal trs instrument cables.
@runishit13 жыл бұрын
dude shoudn't the noise gate be before the compressor? cuz your compressor makes less dynamics in your sound, what means quiet things become louder, so your noise gate can let some compressed noise thru that you don't want. if you do it the oposite way it kills the noise first. well that's the way i have connected it in my pedal board i don't know haha if it works great that way too there's no problem at all:D
@u00drk116 жыл бұрын
Hey, I talked to you before about the TonePort for getting the "In Flames / Gothenburg sound" well, I'm really not recording anytime soon.. just, practicing & live gigs. So... whats the best way to get it? I only have a Crate XT65R amp, a digitech death metal distortion pedal, & a line 6 pocket POD. But am willing to buy something around $300.00 for the sound. Because a peavey 6505 head is a little too much money!! hahah

@CooCooAwesome14 жыл бұрын
It's a pretty good setup, I guess. However, I don't rally believe in rackmount stuff; I tend to create all my sounds with individual, analog stompboxes. The only digital effects I use are a Digitech Modeling Pedal, and the delay that's built into my amp. Other than that, it's all analog stuff, man.
@schehf16 жыл бұрын

I've been researching heavily the digitech 2120. Players like you really convince me to at minimum consider it, 'cause your sound is really cool. My only problem is - wouldn't it be more suitable to use a pod x3 live or something since I have an amp with controls (fender twin reverb). I love the sound of the digitech though, what do you recommend?

I have a doubt maybe you can help me.. If I buy an ENGL rack preamp, do I ABSOLUTELY need a power amp -like your ENGL- also? Do you HAVE to have a cab also or can the power amp be plugged straight into a soundcard? I want to record and practice w direct line but having good tube tone I always use headphones (cannot really play in my apt without them) so a cab 4me is kind of pointless but I'm afraid w/out it the sound may not be as good
