Is there anymore substrate? That will not be enough for a queen, let alone colony to live in. Ideally, I like to make my natural setups with at least 4 inches of soil, ensuring the colony has enough digging space until they grow into the hundreds (with small ants). Larger colonies will require far more, like 8-10 inches especially if they're large ants.

The Ant Farm substrate included in the setup is enough to cover around 70-80mm layer in height.

In my opinion the ants look like they can chew through the mesh, can they? Probably not but i need lots of reassurance. But it looks great🫠 if only i could convince my dad😐

The mesh on the lid is made from stainless steel so no way an ant/insect can chew through.

@@bestantsuk1607what if everyone is busy, should I just feed them lots of protein, sugar and a really big water tube with water dispensers?😂 if I’m allowed ants it definitely won’t be for my birthday or Christmas, I will have to catch it and when the nanitics arrive, feed and water them and shove them into a box for hibernation😅
