Very nice video. I am from Natomas so small world. Shop at Rc country. Love crawling at Folsome too. I stuck my pro staight axles under my phoenix kit and got rc pirate shock towers.

I bought a scx10 III last year, drove it a little and just didn't like it much it was too floppy and spongy etc.... I almost gave up on the 10th scale crawler type ... I went to 24th scale and built a couple rigs for inside fun, then heard about the vanquish phoenix .. I was told it was much better.. I thought it was all hype.... Well all I can say is after you take a hand on front bumper and rear bumper and twist the whole frame on both.... it says it all.... Just wow the difference in rigidity, and the lower center of gravity with motor position etc, and the overdrives OMG what a unit. I hate my SCX10 now

I have the portal version, and its very clicky. I have not looked in to it yet since its a bit work to get it out (and I have enough work to do from before!). But the straight axle looks good! And its a great deal now!

You are 100% correct replaced my motor with a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Expert & Hobby wing 1080 combo & I had to look at the build instructions & videos because I couldn’t believe how much it took to just get the motor out. 🤨 It went well though as far as install & mesh but ya a real pain. I have the New Sendero SE & that motor comes out so easy especially compared to the Phoenix. But the chassis impressed me better quality then a TRX & I’ve had it out on some very steep climbs against some of my other Crawlers like TRX ustom Element Ecto SXC 3 JLU & it outperformed most of them. It’s not stock though with those electronics & I have metal beadlocks. It is kind of loud but with the Crawlmaster Expert it has a nice rhythm. Too much rain here in Ventura county Ca. to get out pretty much flooding but tomorrow maybe a drier day so loos like it’s going to be a muddy day out😃

Your right its good to hear a lot of opinions and I'm glad i listened to yours, i've been on the fence about this truck and your the first person that had an opinion i could relate to.A lot of work to adjust mesh, remove trans, i too like to keep it simple and that includes maintenance and repairs, i think i'll just build a simple open lcg flat rail 3gear trans crawler, thx and i liked and subscibed.

The green looks good👍 I just got the RTR and only used it a little in the basement, gonna get outside this week, I believe the Vanquish products are worth it....but just my opinion....👍

How do you set up your pinion gear mesh ?

Usually the old reliable trick, put a small piece of paper between the pinion & spur, tighten down the motor, then remove the paper. After a while, you can just eyeball it...

The wheels are actually an old set from Gearhead Rc, You can find them on RPP Hobby website, the tires are Proline BFG's Just a head's up, the wheels might be discontinued, but check out their others, they have a solid, weighty wheel for not too much money

Well, portals just aren't available on all 1:1 trucks, at least in North America.. it's really just a finicky thing. I love running overdrive myself, and I know THAT doesn't come standard, LOL Meh, run what you like. I wouldn't mind building a Capra myself, honestly
