With all the new technology entering the market, people forget how simple a successful reef tank can be. Thank you for reminding all of us.

I never knew you can just filter the tank with rock and sand. Im glad i came across your channel you made things so simple for me you really helped me understand the entire process.
@ElPierdolito5 ай бұрын
My thought exactly, I've wasted hours and hours watching people praise sumps .... whatever :D I will do it this way .. or maybe add a canister filter, but that would be it.

Have you tried borrowing someone's Harlequin shrimp to try to get rid of those starfish? They ONLY eat starfish, so it's not really worth purchasing one since you'd have to constantly supply it pieces of starfish to survive, but if you could rent one or borrow one, they could help get rid of your starfish problem.

That’s a great tip! I may just buy a pair myself and give it to someone else once they’re finished in my tank. 😁

Your tanks are the perfect depth to use Two Little Fishes (expensive) or Eheim Scraper(cheap). I use the Eheim in my 20G and love it. I basically dip my hands in the tank only when adding new corals.
@DannysAquariums2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! 🙌 I’ll look into those, hopefully they are a bit stronger. I want to take that approach as well, having my hands in the tank at little as possible.

I am trying the same set up. Since there is no skimmer or filter have you have in oxygen/ph issues? That's the only concerns have. Thank you.

Just out of curiosity, are there ways that you can treat natural sea water to kill any bacteria or pests that may be residing there? Or do you just have to dump it in and hope for the best?
@DannysAquariums2 жыл бұрын
Possibly run it through a UV, but that won’t get rid of possible pollutants (chemicals).

How do you keep NO3/PO4 level's right? Do you need to use any bottles?
@DannysAquariums2 жыл бұрын
I was having difficulty keeping NO3/PO4 measurable, I noticed my corals were not doing well because of it. I increased feeding, did water changes less often and started dosing NO3/PO4 manually.
@bwreefer2 жыл бұрын
@@DannysAquariums In my case, the NO3/PO4 level's so high. Guess I have to change water more than often and start dosing to make it down. Or maybe just think about using the sump, but I really like the low tech reef tank like yours. :(

Love this method!! I’ve been doing it before I came a cross your videos and love it. I technically do have a sump, but the only thing in it is the return pump and a refugium!! I don’t get insane amount of coral growth, but the corals seem to be doing ok!!
