This is part 2 of the racing from Street Car Takeover Atlanta. This time we take the ZL1500 Drag racing! I had a goal of 10's with the 20's on the truck.

What if you did like the automatic semi trucks do up under a load where the computer skip gears to limit overpowering the drive line but the turbo powers the higher gear. Just a theory, love the truck

NICE! Get a set of dedicated wheels with some sticky slicks mounted on them and you'll break into the low 9's. The two 1500's are stand alone builds, well done to you AND Steve? (red haired tech) ... I grew up in Parkville (Kansas City Mo) and am one of the few surviving "Riverside Rat's" that lived at KCIR back in the day. When I retired a few years ago I snagged a couple of 72 C/10's and restored each of them to serve my purpose, "one to tow and one to go." "Belle & Nasty Sally" ... Sally currently has a punched out and pumped up 427 BBC that turns low 10's. Let me know if you ever want a rust free 72 C/10 with factory bones, she's for sale cheap at $25K, I'm getting to old to chase that "9 second dream" and your shop could use the PR that a 72 C/10 build would undoubtably bring... ~Ghostrider~ (The Original) ;)

I special ordered in 1993 a Chevy 1500 extended cab with 350 and yes a 5 spd- manual from the dealership with the same grey interior. I had a fifth wheel hitch installed and used it for towing and loved it. Factory 3.73's and it was a beautiful truck. Eventually sold it for a new 7.3 powerstroke Ford to do my towing. I always remember that teal Chevy though...gorgeous color on that body style....gorgeous build dude

i wonder if your getting those tires too hot. street tires arent like drag slicks. they heat up from driving on the road and stay at the proper temp for launches. the burnout in drag is supposed to clean off the rocks off slicks and add a little heat to the tire since most dragsters get pushed to the track when all that came around. i see alot of people try to heat up street tires and all they do is get greasy and melt and slide all over the place. i ran some super sticky street tires on my blazer last year and never heated them for a race. i always had fantastic traction unless the car had been sitting in a cold parking lot. whenever i did do a burnout. theyd get super melty leaving tread patterns everywhere and were horrible for traction.

My 17 ZL1 when stock got 25mph when cruising. After a cam, porting the blower and bigger injectors and a pump it's now at 19. I'm guessing the truck could get at least 15, but it was too built for that now was it...
