Oh, wow, only having one singer and therefore reworking the siblings’ lines for Zira so that Nuka saying “Sleep, you little termite! I mean, precious little thing...” becomes Zira weirdly sincerely saying “Sleep, my little termite - I mean, precious little thing...” is still weirdly fitting, considering despite all the attention and investment she gives Kovu, she actually kinda sees him strictly as a means to an end and basically has zero investment in him as a person. While she realizes she’s been a terrible mom when Nuka dies... she just scapegoats Kovu instead of actually extending that to him, too, even.

Generally speaking villain songs arent very restrained and can go intense, but hero songs tend to be mostly tied to the hero's journey which makes them somewhat more predictable. That being said there are AMAZING hero/heroine songs that are easily a match for villain songs. Make a Man Out of You, Go The Distance, I Won't Say I am in Love, From Zero To Hero, Part of Their World, Remember Me, Let Me Show You The World, I Won't Be Silent... I could go on forever.

One of the very few Disney sequels that's worthy of the original. I wish they'd made a prequel instead of 1.5 though. I'm way more curious about how Scar became so bitter, cynical, and vengeful, than Timon's obnoxious family and fart jokes. Anyone with a remotely respectable knowledge of psychology knows something made him as he is.

I think it may have been purposeful because I get a distinct Scar vibe so it could be that this is like an AU where it's Scar instead of Zira because Scar didn't die at the end but instead was banished with the other outsiders.
