Just a little recommendation for anyone watching this and wanting to buy a designer bad: don't go with patent leather. I'm a bag designer / leather craftswoman and patent leather is the hardest to take care of, it ages the in the worst way (just like Susan says it tends to get sticky) and it's the hardest (if even possible) to restore. Try to go with a structured or pebbled leather because this tends to be the most robust. Hope this is helpful.

😭😭😭 I bought a Chanel in Patent leather thank god it’s black 🥺
@AlineSeiler3 жыл бұрын
@@msmilagonzalez You'll be fine. The most important thing is that you love the bag you chose and black is always the easiest to take care off too. Go buy a specialized product for patent leather care. This will be a game changer. And don't forget to store it in the dust bag!

@@AlineSeiler Do you recommend a specific patent leather cleaner or conditioner? I recently bought a gorgeous vintage black Lady Dior bag that is in impeccable shape but I’d like to keep it that way. Thanks!
@AlineSeiler2 жыл бұрын
@@joannat1898 Hi Joanna, my most important tips for patent leather is to always store the bag stuffed with paper, so that it doesn't crack as easily and also to have some type of cloth in between the bag and the flap (if it has one) to prevent them from sticking together. This happens some times with the coating of the patent. Other than that I don't know any specific brand. Any type for patent leather will be fine. Also: keep it out of the sun whenever you're not using it. Storing it in a dust bag whenever you can! Hope this helps a little. Enjoy your bag!

I completely agree with the story aspect of shopping vintage. It’s a huge reason why I mainly shop the preloved market; I also find I use my preloved bags more because I don’t feel like I have to completely baby them. Beautiful collection, thanks for sharing!

i recently purchased my first (probably only lol) luxury bag, the same boy bag as yours but in black. in my 20s i also thought it was ridiculous to spend money on things like that, but if you love it, you're not precious about it/ won't be afraid to really use it, and you're not gonna go broke buying it, gifting yourself nice things actually feels very empowering! sometimes i put the leather part of the strap in the bag and just wear the chain, if you want to wear it longer but not crossbody :). ps. i'm half korean and half indian and i really love seeing your beautiful family on here!

I work hard everyday with a mindset I will be successful and I'll be able to live without worrying about my finance every single day and finally owning a bag that I've always dreamed of

I love how every bag has a story behind it! And trust me when the Chloe Faye bag was all the hype, a lot of people got it and a lot of them regret getting it, including me! And this applies to all the sizes the Faye comes in, mini, small, medium. It’s just an oddly shape bag when stuffed with things and an oddly heavy bag, even when it’s empty. I wish you held up your bigger bags, the black Chanel, mustard Bottega, brown Bottega, and Celine belt bag, a little higher so I could have a better look 🤣🤣

I loved the stories around these bags, as others have also said. I'll never own a super expensive bag. Of all of them I particularly like the Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Medium Cabat Tote in black, which even used is approaching the price of a new MacBook Pro. I'd take the computer, or a new camera lens over one of these bags. I still love my boiled wool Sherpani cross body bags, and I carried a used Sherpani cross body Oslo bag until it got stained. Oh well, too poor for this video. Still, it's nice to live vicariously. Current bag: F3XB by Domke, and the Sherpani Cube belt bag. No kids, so no real world need for that Bottega Veneta. I just love how it looks.

As someone in her late 20s, I never thought I wouldn't spend the money on a good quality expensive brand bag. I was just waiting for the moment to have the money to do it. I know the pandemic has been horrible in so many ways but something good about it was not spending hundreds of £ on public transport and being able to afford my Versace La Medusa as well as my Jimmy Choo clutch for my wedding next year 👛 I think the most important rules for me when it comes to buying pricey items are that they wouldn't be very typical and wouldn't be ones that have an extremely similar dupe of similar or the same quality without spending so much money. For example, if I ever buy a black or brown brand bag, it must be unique, it must have something special besides the brand name. That's why my mini collection of brand bags currently doesn't include those colours. You should absolutely enjoy your presents and those that you got yourself. If you worked hard/if you earned the money, why wouldn't you treat yourself sometimes?! It's great your husband likes treating you to what you love too 😊 👜 btw the crossbody bags aren't a new trend. They have been a thing in Europe, especially for people who travel often, for a while.

It can be fixed. The handbag clinic. Have a KZbin channel. Under the same name. Even just watching them preform miracles. I believe would make you send it off to be lovingly restored.

Susan for leather and suede you could use apple brand rain & stain repellent to protect your designer bags. When I get new bags before I even use it I do 2 coats then once every year. And I have never had color transfer and the bags are in pristine condition. I also spray designer shoes and works so well. You can even spray it on LV vachetta and helps to prevent water stains. I’m sorry to hear about your YSL, they should be able to fix it, I have sent purses before, and it takes forever but they look brand new now.

I just recently got into carrying bags/purses in general so I’ve been looking for used ones and just got a GORGEOUS vintage Gucci pouch that is cream and cognac with the little gg print (in a darker cream so it’s subtle), but the musty basement smell was unbearable. So I did baking soda in coffee filters, those plastic little air filled pocket things to keep the bag open, let it sit out in the sun and fresh air, and stole some of those “do not eat” moisture packs you get in new bags or shoes. It’s been about a week and it’s gotten better but not fully. Going to try gently washing it with my cetaphil lol and conditioning it with mink oil next. Any tips on getting the smell out of vintage bags would be awesome!
