Delivery driver did it. I had the EXACT SAME SCENARIO happen to me with FedEx. I got a lawyer and it turned out to be my delivery driver who opened the box and resealed it. Delivery driver was fired from FedEx

I’m so sorry this happened to you! I have had problems shipping items to sell too! They weren’t stollen but the box arrived looking like it fell out of the trunk and then got run over multiple times and the big bags were misshaped. I’m so glad that you are fully pursuing this! Thank you!! For so many people this kind of financial loss would be huge since most of us sell bags to fund the next bag purchase. One thing I do is use marked tape. I will put a signature on it too. You can sign or “mark” the tape so that it can’t be resealed.

I had a very similar experience. The delivery guy signed my neighbour's name on the delivery slip and took my items home with him. They sent another driver to my house to investigate and he knew exactly who had my package. He went to the guy's house and got my package, then brought it to me. I have never seen that original guy ever again. It was obvious this was a regular occurrence with him. Hopefully, he was suitably 'rewarded' by the company. I really feel for you.

Because it is only when people do this, that companies will tighten their in house security to ensure it stops happening. I just watched your update on your stolen bags. Years ago I had an air tight case against my employer for age discrimination and a hostile work environment. They had admitted fault and followed up with apologies and seminars for managers about recognizing, preventing and dealing with adverse work environments. Then, after about six months it happened again. I quit (got a better job very quickly). The US government said I had a clear cut case against them and so did my lawyer. The process could have taken a couple of years. I would likely have gotten a six figure settlement. I was obsessing about the process and getting more excited but anxious every day knowing I would be confronting them. This went on for several months. Finally, I had to make the decision to let go. As much as I deserved winning the case, I was feeding into constant negativity and it was affecting everything I did. To live with that for a couple of years was going to be destructive to my mental health. After I dropped the case the sense of relief was immediate. You were right in how you pursued every angle, right to be frustrated with DHL and the police and right to feel angry and vulnerable. But I also feel that as hard as it was, you were right to let it go. To better days ahead…

A local consignment store may be a more secure option, but every option probably has weaknesses (eg, a store could be targeted by thieves too). I have a friend who had a diamond watch repaired at a jewellery store in Melbourne years ago, and when they picked it up they noticed something different. They had their watch checked by another jeweller, and a diamond had been replaced with a fake stone. They had to sue to get justice. Wherever there’s money/value, you’ll find someone looking to exploit.

Meredith, I was a courier for FedEx in the states for 20 Years ( I have since retired )....Never did I ask anyone to show me something they were shipping....! NO, reason to...! I am so sorry this has happened to you..! In 2019, my daughter was studying in St. Andrews, Scotland and had her books shipped home because they were too heavy to take home along with her luggage. She boxed them up and we arranged to have them picked up by DHL at her residence hall. I found out later after placing my order that whoever was to pick them up had to check inside the boxes to be sure of what was inside. This may have been necessary because we live in the US. I remember contacting the ladies in the hall because the two boxes needed to be open for inspection and feeling bad about that because they'd need to be retaped once more. My point is that in this particular situation, DHL did need to inspect the boxes. In Meredith's situation, I cannot say. It sickens me to hear of something like this happening.

Oh this is devastating to have happen and I can fully empathize. Yes, violated is how I felt too when I discovered that thousands of dollars of checks were stolen from within the USPS system and cashed. It was such a mess to try to get it all sorted and it seems often that these thefts are internal. Awww I feel like giving you a big hug. I know how passionate we all are about nice things but I've also had a similar experience with a delivery person taking extra interest in my packages. My packages weren't expensive but my gut told me never to trust him again. Also another person at a post office had a similar personality and I found out she stole things from my letters so I can't trust the same people ever again. I just pray and live in hope. There definitely needs to be strict regulations because packages shouldn't be so easy to just steal. Maybe they should have some sort of face ID for whoever handles the package or something. About 15 years ago I left my cellphone on a flight and watched it drive around LA using “find my” online. I filed a police report with LAX police and they ended up tracing it to an employee who cleaned the plane after my flight. I got my phone back and the officer told me the employee was fired. These situations are devastating, a violation of privacy and so many other horrible feelings. All your feelings are so valid. I pray that however this may seemingly end, that you are able to completely shed the negativity that the perpetrator brought into your life.

Oh Meredith, I'm so sorry. I've had many things stolen from me in my life that I worked hard for so I know what that feeling of violation is like. It's awful. You already know this (you mentioned it in the video) but the package weights are something that can be checked to show that there was a difference between time of pickup and delivery. Also, though you said you won't be shipping designer goods anymore, using tamper-proof tape could help. I'm going to start doing that now because of what happened to you. The police won’t do fingerprints for something like this. Plus that only works if the person has been arrested and fingerprinted previously. Sadly theft cases such as this are on the bottom rung for police.

Then I thought of the inside of the box because there should be no innocent DHL employee leaving their prints there. Another thing is that if the box has been used previously, then there could be old prints that have nothing to do with the theft. ❤

Something similar has happened to me as well here in the U.S. Nothing can describe the feeling of blatant theft. Until it happens to you, one cannot truly understand the depth of anguish it causes. It is not about the items - it is the violation . The sheer entitlement of people these days is unreal. The person who said the horrible comments will come to regret those remarks as loss will follow that kind of energy. This shouldn’t have happened, people are horrible. I’m so sorry this has happened to you Meredith. Connor will need to protect his sellers and start inspecting packages before leaving DHL (or any other shipping company). The argument businesses will always use is that they could have been stolen after it left DHL. Obviously we know this is not the situation, but companies will never assume the burden of proof. If he took video while opening the boxes then that can be used as proof that the items were stolen while in transit by a DHL employee. I hope you get justice! This is just so unacceptable. You obviously do not shop from Farfetch. When you return items via DHL, Farfetch ask that you allow the DHL driver inspect the contents. Then it is sealed and scanned. That way the customer is 100% protected in that the receiving end cannot claim you send a dodgy item back to the seller. Makes perfect sense to me. that's the way it works from Australia.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I just watched your update and saw you weren’t able to get justice. It’s very frustrating. My sister had all of her belongings stolen. She was moving states away after graduation and valeted her car with a trailer attached that had all of her belongings. Clothes, jewelry, purses etc. While she was sleeping the valet gave her keys to a woman who drove off with everything she owned. It was clearly an inside job but I remember how violated she felt; knowing people were going through her things and taking what doesn’t belong to them. What people don’t understand is even if you’re wealthy and can buy it all back, it’s not about the money. It’s a violation and I’m sorry this happened. Don’t listen to the haters!!!!!

I (thankfully) haven't had any luxury items stolen, but I've had lower-value things stolen in transit and packages taken right off my front porch. Either lost or stolen in transit or the buyer fakes that the bag isn’t in the box received. I can’t believe someone thinks you deserve being violated like this. Stealing is never ok. SAKS FIFTH AVENUE here in the states is using a red “Tamper Proof Tape”… plus signature. Much more difficult to reseal if opened. High end retailers here seem to be using FedExpress with a signature to receive. I always take photos of the box as I am packing it and after it is sealed when sending a high value item. Just sharing some thoughts. So horrible… I feel exactly the same as you do. Virtual hugs to you.
