The narrator is very brave to take this job even though she is learning to speak English. She is obviously studying hard and is doing a good job. Congratulations

Never mind the accent. The important thing is correct grammar and communication between reader and listener. Not every speaker (in the English language) can speak with a British or American accent!

This is why you set the boundaries at the beginning. She needs to put her mil in her place.

Why a newly married woman would worry about telling her husband the truth about his mother? That’s the perfect time because she’ll immediately find out if he will stand up for his wife or bow down to his mother, in which case the wife should leave. I would rather be single forever than be mistreated by my chosen family.

BETTER QUESTION ??? IS ??? WHY HELL WOULD SHE THINK 💭 SHE HAS 2 BE VERBALLY , MENTALLY , EMOTIONALLY & FINANCIALLY ABUSED 2 BE. WITH A MAN !!!!! AND NEVER STOP 🛑 LAUGHING UNCONTROLLABLY !!! EVERY TIME SHE THINKS HER OPINION MATTERS !!! 2nd. QUESTION ???? DO THESE WOMEN NOT HAVE THEIR OWN MOTHER ???? TELLING MOTHER !!! SO SHE CAN KICK MIL ASS 4 DISRESPECT HER DAUGHTER !!

@@ninaross211 these stories are based on Asian culture. They have very deep rooted ideals about a woman’s duty and a man’s duty. Once she takes a husband, his family takes priority. Slowly, the women are moving away from these traditional roles . Especially educated women who are basically enslaved by the chosen family. It’s very difficult for them because they’ve been raised with these values. It’s comparable to one living in a dv situation and we wonder why they don’t leave. The fear of the unknown, the judgements and being told to return. There are no programs that help them and they must make it in their own. They should try to find out as much as they can before marriage and demand he sign a prenup that includes a financial payout if there is dv or she’s being treated as a slave. Keep in mind that we only hear about the horror stories. There are many happy endings too

Personally, I think it's better to meet the parents know what your getting into with potential inlaws before marriage as it's statistically the 3rd most common killer of marriage. (behind 1. money & 2. kid's. The 4th top killer is religion)

@@yodaflyz agreed 💯 but some people live way too far and will do maybe 2 or 3 meet and greet with the last meet being with the entire family. All these people are on their best behaviour. Some men get married just so that his wife will care for his parents and she finds out pretty quickly. By then, she has quit her job and is panicked plus he keeps her financially poor so that she can’t run away.

@@mothertrucker936this is why it is BAD to just respect abuse because CuLtUrE!!! Just because it’s your culture and I say “no” to being oppressed and abused doesn’t mean I’m oppressing YOU. Every time someone says “our culture is so unique - men are more important….” I say “you and every other culture in the world. You are expected to be religious, get married, have kids, and follow the violent gender norms. The only difference is how they do it.” The only cultures in the world who have STARTED to get better are Scandinavia, Iceland, Finland, and Denmark ands there’s a hint of promise in Mauritius. Get over yourselves”.

I meet my MIL 8 years after we got married, she tried to bossy me But no luck(she was from Mexico) her dislike went on for about 40 years. Told my husband about her rudeness and lies that she said about me and my child!! But he never believed us he always believed us and he would give me the silent treatment for days. and he grew up with his aunt, My father gave me the guts to stand up to such abuse and MIL did not like it!!! she tried to act up in front of my mother and she put MIL in her place!! MIL tried to go after my Dad !!! But my stop her as she was following my dad to the bedroom!!! (my dad left cause he saw right thru her and got tired of her presence at their house) she wAS NEVER WELCOMED AGAIN WHEN SHE VISITED US!!!

Always train and trust your spirit and always pay attention. Nothing is ever said in jest. Never push yourself into someone life who does not want you in it. We are told to love one another. This doesn't mean we have to like them.
