Thank You very much for the kind words. But as of this day I no longer have this plane, I sold it back in 2018. not enough good days to fly it here and had to keep assembling and dis-assembling it to take it to the flying field. Didn't want to wear out the bolts doing that constantly, So It is now in Vermont with a new owner. Thanks for watching though.....

Marshal, a LONG time ago, I started on a mini-MAX kit. I got the wing kit, and the empennage kit. Got the tail feathers all done (no skins) and the ribs and spars done, then I had a garage fire, which ruined the work. Insurance got me nothing on the parts, but I DID get $1500, for the antique Shopsmith, I spent $140 on. I'm STILL fascinated by that design. (Back then, I was able to talk to Wayne Ison.) steve

Wow,, So sorry for your loss, I wish you the best in maybe finding one built or partially so you can get back in one. The Mini Max Kits are just like full sized model airplane kits and are a real craft to build. Love that wood and fabric.

Yes I loved it very much but no longer own it. I sold it to a buyer in Vermont. was a hassle without a hanger. Assembling it and disassembling it constantly took the fun out of flying. But my dream came true to own and fly my own plane so that was worth it all, Thanks for commenting.

Unfortunately Not,, I Sold it two years ago to a gentleman from Vermont who is in possession of it now but have not heard from him in a while. I sure miss it though. didn't have a hanger and assembling it for every flight was not good for it.

Nice mini max. I'm currenlty looking at a 1300z max my self. Do you have any opinions on the model I'm currenlty looking at? I think it comes in a little heavy for FAR 103 and honestly I'm only interested in flying under those rules for now.
@marshal71027 жыл бұрын
The Majority of the versions I've seen have been the 1600. for some reasons this seems to be most popular when up grading from standard 1100 which is Rotax 277 but unlike mine which has a 447. Most of the 1600 I've seen have 1/2 VW which mainly gives the same and sometimes less HP which is 40hp but being the VW is more reliable and less prone to engine falure. As for anything else, its all up to weight and speed. Don't know much about 1300 Minimax.

@@marshal7102 I’m so jealous I think that’s so cool that is also my dream. One was to fix up and own a vintage motorcycle and use it a lot and the second to own a plane and fly it! I have recently accomplished the first goal!
@marshal71023 жыл бұрын
@@5disguised Yeah, I really enjoyed it but the most exciting and thrilling part was in this video the first takeoff. When I first got the nerve to go for it, I still had the choke on and it would not excelerate for takeoff. After I opened the choke I went for it again. By the time I shot about 3/4 throttle to it I was blasting down the grass strip and off the ground and was not expecting that. Well, I was committed, just went full throttle and it went up like a rocket. The ASI showed about 65mph in no time. But it was indescribable. I might get another plane but am really looking at the MX by Eipper, Like to find a used one in great shape, I like the High wing configuration. I was just a bit un easy with the MiniMax because it was very sensitive and very quick in response. But that's the way it was suppose to be.

I didn't build it. I was used

Marshal, something is not right about your video. You start by saying you are going to Pensacola, then proceed to show video of you going West through the Wallace Tunnel in Mobile. You're going the wrong way! Thanks for the ride along.
@marshal71025 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, But if i exit the tunnel going WEST would we not have seen Mobile AL as we exited???
@marshal71025 жыл бұрын
I guess It was just a case of bad editing. The highway curves right as you go east and left as you go west. I guess your right. OOOPpps. Picked the wrong clip hahah
@OIE825 жыл бұрын
@@marshal7102 Your are correct. You are going West away from Pensacola. Just picking on you a little. But Thank You for sharing the video. Would like to hear details about your plan. Like, how do you know it's a solid airframe. Just a little jealous.
@marshal71025 жыл бұрын
This plane has a LOT of paperwork and logs. The original owner spared no expense in records keeping. This plane when finished, was featured in Kitplanes magazine in 1992. All work was done at the highest craftsmanship. glue joints after 26 years are still firm on the inside. Only found two cross braces in the left wing panel that needed to be re-glued. Most scuffing and marring came from transporting it back from Pensacola. Had a rough time keeping it covered so I just removed the tarp and wrapped the engine and prop. Got a lot of attention from passers-by as we stopped to refuel and get a bite to eat. The trailer had to be pre constructed with dimensions from downloaded MiniMax plans, prior to going to pick it up. Had no Idea what to expect. Just got the max width, length, and rudder height from the plans to know what i was dealing with. Never-the-less, as you can see, it made it back in flying condition hahah. Lots of history in this plane. I am the fourth owner since 1992. Caring people have obviously owned this as well. Thanks for watching and be sure to check out the other flight vids as well.

@@steveskouson9620 Great Point,, but the music was to cover up the noise, you would not have heard the engine anyway because the go-pro camera was rattling very bad due to a loose camera mount.
