I have the same problem here in aus, ended up buying a jdm import motor and throwing correct pistons and cams into it :)

Pajeros are so affordable in my country, you can find them all day for like 4000 USD. They are more common with 2.5 turbo diesels 4d56. Also FJ40s are not as beloved here like they are in the states, you can find them for like 5k USD running

Damn it looks niiice! I got one '85 myself, two door with the 4G54. I got the same problem you had, it sometimes just stutters and loose power with no particular scenario, and also it has lost a lot of torque. I'll try changing to a better distributor to see what happens.

Yeah! Glad she's back in action! Went through the same thing - we had to source our 6G72 block from Chicago. Recently had to get new heads as well - but running strong for the past six months! Coming up on 300K - Long live the montero!! 1990 LWB A/T @the_blue.bullet
