Thanks for reacting to this song Max! And we appreciate it sharing it to your mom and getting into the bits of it emotionally and even sharing us a little bit more about of yourself as the song moved you. This song is dedicated for the Mom(Ma) and Dad(Pa) in people's lives, but also in general to people who guided you in life, hence the name MAPA(filipino word for MAP in English). Hope you continue loving songs of SB19 even more and maybe you and your mom get to see SB19 perform live in the near future! They've recently visited Canada actually for their last tour! Thanks again for this reaction!🙏

Warning: Long Message ahead. Message below aims to answer some of your questions you have in mind. Hope this helps. (1) MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents) (2) Mapa = Map (English) (3) MaPa = Mata and Paa (Eyes & Feet) (4) Lataratara = There is no direct translation (Prolly) for this. This is a lullaby, a hymn normally our Mom makes every time she puts us to sleep. Remember our [1]MaPa normally just utter any sound tucking us in. Our Map is our [1]MaPa in this Life journey. Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. The release of the magical song was intended between the mother’s day and father’s day since the song is for them. This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them. In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). The Map that we can bring anywhere we go. The map that contains all the leanings and guidance our [1]MaPa gave us. In the Filipino culture (or prolly in other culture), we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still, we want to serve them and it’s time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the tiresome days and time they give and sacrifices for us. This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason. Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. There’s this Filipino saying “isusubo nalang nila, ibibigay pa sa’yo” This can be translated as our parent always put us first. First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing. Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again. For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa. For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute. Watching this masterpiece brings me home every time. Let’s not wait for the time where we regret.. call them now and let them know how much we love and treasure them. Each one of us has a story to tell with regard to our MaPa and Mapa. I wanna hear em. You may share and comment your story here. This second single, MAPA answers the “Where” from this comeback. IF the song “What” is proudly swinging our Flags, this “Where” is talking about our Origin, our parents and wherever we go, we will always go back to ur family. This masterpiece deserves to be heard around the Universe. This song deserves to be sang only by SB19 in different language respectfully. This Love letter hits us Filipino the most because it’s on the original language. The world deserves to hear this on their own language. Petition for our boys (EsBi) to do so. And hey, Watch out for the Easter eggs in the ending Map.

My mother died two years ago due to Chronic Kidney Disease and my sister took care of her while I was working abroad to send money for her treatment, until the last moments, my sister took care of her. Now, I'm here in the Philippines working, my sister and I are with Papa, he's 62 years old but in God's mercy, he is always happy even in the midst of trials. We promised mama before she passed away that we would take care of Papa. Thank you very much Mom and Dad for the love you showered on us.
It's part of Filipino culture for children to take care of their parents as they grow old. We are not open to the concept of retirement homes for our elderly but we care for our parents until they pass. So, this song is a tribute to them but also letting them know that the kids can help them and care for them, let them rest as they did their part first. That's why the line at the end "pahinga muna, ako nang bahala" is really giving parents the assurance that their kids will be there with them all the way until the end as a sincere thank you and love you.

Hi, Max! You mom is correct. MAPA is the combination of "Ma" (mother) and "Pa" (father), at the same time it means "map" in our language. The title itself implies that our parents are our life guide. I began following SB19 while taking care of my 96 year old dad for his final years with us. I watched this song over and over through reactions of people of all ages all over the world. Your mom's reaction is normal! Just a little background, Ken, with the low voice was raised by his Grandparents as his parents chose to work overseas to provide for their family. He had only seen them a few times in his life. Josh, who sang the Papa part, was raised by his mom and never met his dad. He finally met his half siblings but sadly it was to late to meet his dad. This song is dedicated to any parent figure that helps to raise children! This is a very different group! Every SB19 ballad is emotional and special! The lyric video was designed by Justin, the youngest member and creative director of the group. Might I suggest the Wish USA bus performance, with English subs to get to know the actual members! After that Nyebe is another beautiful song. The official visualizer has English subs.

Oh, wow! Never expected you would do this so soon but I am glad you did. And your mom already cried after only listening to the first line. That was something else. This song was born out of a laundry room when they were quarantined together during the Covid 19 Pandemic. They were missing their families so much and Pablo asked them what would they like to say to their parents. This was just a heartwarming tribute not just to their parents and guardians but to all our loving parents who sacrificed so much for us. This song is a staple during graduation ceremonies and even weddings. Just a little backgrounder. Josh sang the Papa part and he was so brave to take it in as he and his sister grew up without knowing their dad. They were raised by a single mom and became so poor he became homeless by age 15. Ken grew up without his parents. They were living in a far flung province and were so poor his parents decided to work in Malaysia, leaving him and his sister in the care of his grandparents. His grandfather and father are both pastors so Ken grew up in a Christian church and that's where his musical talents got honed. Every time he has a chance during interviews, he is so proud to say that he is a Pastor's kid and grandkid. When they had their first online concert, Ken was crying when he was singing his part because he was missing his family so much. He only got to see his parents twice at that time, once when he was 5 yrs old and once when he was 1st year college. Towards the end of the song, the other member's parents and families went out the stage. Ken was smiling and so happy for them, only to be surprised when his sister and uncle appeared. He then fell on the floor and cried so hard. This was the boys' surprise for him, knowing how much it will mean to him. They said they were all nervous Ken might see them beforehand as they were staying in the same hotel. I am so happy that they have become successful as the road they took to reach where they are right now was never easy. They faced so much difficulties and the one reason they pushed thru was their families. And in spite of all the success, their feet remained firmly on the ground and always looks back to their humble beginnings. Hopefully, you can also watch with your mom the live version of MAPA on Wish Bus USA. They sound better singing this live and it's English subbed as well. Thank you for sharing this with your mom. I hope we can see more of her in the future.

I like what you said there, "The music that I love the most are the ones that moved me." Being Filipino, we acknowledged the sacrifices our parents did for working so hard to give us the best life, to get education, everything. And now that we are able to stand on our own, we'd like to repay (for the lack of terms) by taking care of them in their old age and see to it that they got everything they need. It is emotional because it's a taboo for us to discuss such things with our parents, we just do it. That's my opinion.

It clicked in my non filipino brain that MAPA also means map in Tagalog(?), so with the lyric visualizer being an old fashioned map being navigated....wow l...gotta admire the genius of SB19...great reaction RV too Mom & Son!❤💪

Mapa in the context of the song means map. It is also a combination of MAma and PApa. The parents guidance serves as map in adulthood. Mapa is also MAta (eyes) and PAa (feet) as mentioned in the lyrics, mothers serving as children's eyes and father's as feet when they are young. This song about gratefulness. A tribute to parents.

Sending virtual hugs to you and your Mom ❤❤ I lost both of my parents and our house last year. The day. Before the tragic incident, our adopted dog poodle died. My cousin who introduce me to this song asked me if I can just listen to it... .. I was sobbing so badly when I listen the melody and lyrics. . I was thinking to sing this song in Acoustic during the wake but I just could not contain my emotions.. My greatest take away would be value your time with your family. Time is something you can never retrieved. Cherish all the memories the fights, the laughter , most specially the love for each other the core foundation above all.

If I remember correctly, Pablo assigned the Papa line to Josh specifically despite being fatherless bec in a way he also now stands as a father-figure to his family (mom & sister) ❤❤❤

Im so touched with your mom's reaction. She is so nice and a good mom to you, a loving one. Pablo writes songs to also promote the Filipino culture and music. As you can see in the lyric video, we Filipinos are family oriented. We do take care of our elders when they grow old that's why home for the aged not very usual here.

I heard this song a hundred times already and I consider this song as a promise to my parents that I will get to that point where I can tell them to rest and let me do things for them but I cried again watching your genuine reactions. Pablo asked the members what they wanted to say to their Parents/ parent figures and He is fond of wordplay. Your Mom was right that this song is for Mama and Papa and MAPA means Map, because they are our guide in life that's why we'll never be lost. Justin, (creative director) showed here that a parent's job is 24/7 that's why there's a sun and moon on the map. Like you, Josh who sang the Father part never met his Dad but still slayed his part. Thank you for appreciating them and Please watch their wish bus performance with CC on. Thank You in advance, May You and your Mom create more beautiful memories together 💙💠

JUST by this song, I could easily say, how great and beautiful PABLO's heart is. Let's face it, not all would write this kind of song. Most, having a hard time just to say or express how they feel to their parents. And this song, somehow, a way to let tour parents know how you feel about them.. SB19 never fails to express what feeling should you feel for the song they are performing. Their emotions are so contagious, wether it be a hype, a banger,or a love song. They will put their listeners ' into that very moment. They are so passionate. SB19 is A GREAT STORYTELLER!❤

The lataratara part is actually taken from a common lullaby our moms used to sing us when we were babies :) and your mom is right MAPA means mama and papa but also means MAPA (filipino term) as in MAP that's why the video is more of map representing the guidance our parents provided, the life map.

It gets me every time I listen to this song. SB19 are all very humble guys and they really love their families. They worked hard to where they are now and they did it despite all the trials and that strength just shows how strong their parents must be. I wish my child would be like them. I wish my child would be like this song.
