Treva, proud of you and wondering what type of stove you use while camping. Or do you build a stove?
@LyricSoul6869 Жыл бұрын
@@beccamay3216 Thank you. It depends where I'm camping. If I'm in a state or national park, I build a fire in the pit and have stove grate that I sit over the fire, to cook with my cast iron cookware. Otherwise, I'll dig a hole, line up rocks around it to prevent it from spreading, build my fire inside it, then put my grill stand over it. If I need to keep the smoke low, to hide my location, I dig a vent hole that prevents the smoke from going up to high and revealing my location. I usually do that when I'm camping alone.

Some people still cook that way if the live in the faraway villages. My family loves to BBQ because the food has a different flavor. We'd cook like that when we were out camping at the lake. My High School graduation party was a big giant camp-out with most of the graduating kids. We wrapped potatoes in foil and set them around the fire. We had fire roasted veggies and chicken, then scrambled eggs/bacon for breakfast. Cooking over an open flame is just different than stovetop/oven cooking. You get a bonus smokey, roasty flavor.

I'm from South Carolina USA but my husband is from Guinea and I absolutely love cooking with nature outside, I would rather cook over a fire and that surprised my husband. The trick I do is to keep the wood smoking between meals so it's less work to get the flame and your ingredients together. The more conveniences you add to your cooking space outside the easier it is also I think.

Yes in Louisiana we cooked out doors in iron pots ... Iron skillets. And we also cooked meat in the ground. You see we had a farm where we had a lot of fun vegetables just as you guys have lots of what we had Guinea hands we had an all type of birds and we had a chickens we had pigeons ducks geese goose we had a cows pigs and we have lots of stuff on the farm because we only had a little small downtown and just one or two stores at that particular time so and most people grew their foods and shared with one another. And we made ice cream by churning we made butter we baked all of our breads and things like that we had a smoke House for our for the pigs and for the cow whatever we want to smoke in The smokehouse of course my grandmother know how to do all that stuff my grandmother and my mom. We had lots of seafood of all kind so we were never out of fish and you know just all type of seafood. My granddad he had butter beans as far as you can see p types of greens all types of all kind of vegetables and stuff like that you know he used to do sharecropping so he knew how to you know grow things so yes I'm very familiar with it. We also learn how to can food my mother showed us and my grandma showed us how to can food. We used to make cha cha . God and heaven knows we ate all type of beans everyday and of course we have to have rice with everything and cornbread and dumplings. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

We would cook outside when we had hurricanes and the power would be out. Sometimes we had to turn off the gas. I remember my aunt building a cooking pit and using an old tire rim to cook on. I built a fire pit of stone in my parent's back yard when I got older. We would bring the grill from the oven to lay across it and cook. That's one thing I miss about having a yard. In my apartment if the power is out there is nothing we can do. No way to stay warm. No grills or emergency cooking.

We cook outdoors in Romania, wither in a 'summer kitchen' or just on a grill or clay oven, or a couldron hanging over fire. I don't think it is that much work, it is just like preparing food inside but you are outside so you need to carry your utensils and whatever else you need outside. the food cooked outside tastes better I think and the experience is special, plus the sounds of nature and sun are so relaxing and good for your mood. The tiring thing is to keep carrying things from inside to outside so maybe establishing some sort of shaded outdoor cooking area where you keep the basic stuff you need to cook including some spices might be more practical than bringing stuff out from the house every day. IN any case you got a lovely setup there, love the little houses and the garden, well done! I'm gonna hit that subscribe button now!
