Your day going to fabric shops sounds wonderful! I miss going to the fabric district in Los Angeles. There is nothing like that in the Nashville area. The d&g fabric is beautiful!

The nude mesh made me think of a medieval ‘snood’ (in the very best way). I would be tempted to use it as the hood on a Society dress. It would be a gorgeous feature on the back of the dress and when pulled up onto the head could lend a kind of chaste mystery look to the ensemble. Oh dear - fear I’m trading into cosplay territory. In any case it’s beautiful!

Really lovely fabric haul, and sounds like a great day with friends. I find I literally have to stay out of the fabric stores to stop buying it, so doing it as a shopping day with friends (with all the traveling that entailed) is a great way to make it count and have inspiration and feedback guaranteed! I always like the prints, and the others show best sewn up, so it all yields vicarious enjoyment and sewing know-how that is not dry or boring!

If I ever get back to London one day (live in N.Z) I have checked out your tips for shopping there video. Having done the closest comparison - going by train to Auckland (2 hours by train) to The Fabric Store and one other, and having to carry the fabric in a backpack on a hot summer day, the wheelie bag sounds a fabulous idea.

I want that hydrangea silk print SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad lol that's right in my wife's wheelhouse in terms of color. Combine that in a fit-and-flair pattern (or that Gertie pattern you mentioned in the shorter length) with an attached hood with a partial face cover (like just over the nose, but all the way down to the neckline) made out of that glittery mesh, and using the word "exotic" to describe it would be to damn with faint praise (and if you weren't wearing the hood and mask up, it could double as a cowl-style collar if you wanted instead). If you could find a link to the fabrics, I would be eternally grateful for at least the new few days lol
