Great video. I am 65+ and love powder foundation. Liquids and creams seem to settle in lines and wrinkles. I like the Mac a lot, but really fell in love with the Jane Iredale . It’s so skin like. The Jane Iredale is all I took to a recent vacation to Ireland. We ran from one site to another all day and the it held up beautifully. Love the Hydropure serum and powder combo but on the go the powder is great all alone.

Me too. I only wear powder. I find many people simply do not know how to apply it. There is a learning curve and you need exfoliated skin, a good base (I use a face balm) and a good brush. But darn, once you do, it is amazing. I am 55 and still loving it. People always say my skin looks great. It doesn't look like I have makeup on which is my favorite part. I use both Jane Iredale powder foundations; and have others I love too (Inika, Bellapierre, etc.). I have some from etsy also that I absolutely love. I generally prefer the loose powders. I avoid ones with bismuth tho since my skin is insanely sensitive. And rosewater sets it all down beautifully. I feel like it is the best invention in makeup. 🙂

I'm the same age and love Mac. My favourite"cheap" one is Max Factor Facefinity. I use Porcelain which is a bit warm on me but I make it work.

Thank you Mandy for this video!! Powder foundations are so under-rated in the beauty space i feel! Hardly anyone talks about powder foundation but i feel powder foundation works the best on my 44 year old combo/oily skin. I do have to use a pore filling primer with powder foundation for my large pores. I love the jane iredale powder foundation, the tarte amazoian clay loose powder foundations and the older version of the bare minerals bare pro powder foundation! I really want to try the fenty powder foundation! I bought the ji powder foundation because of you and i love it! It really makes my skin look smooth and it wears all day!! My mother, 83 and I, 58 both love the Jane Iredale pure pressed foundation applied over the Jane Iredale tinted serum. Neither of us cared for the illuminating primer from Jane so we went back to our Beautycounter illuminating primer. We always finish with the Jane Iredale spray. Such a beautiful finish!

Great video Mandy! For reference, I'm 70 with very dry skin that tends to get dehydrated easily. I used Bare Minerals original foundation for years when it first came out. Also Laura Geller Balance N Brighten. I quit using any powders about 15 yrs ago because I thought my skin was too dry. I have to credit Mandy for getting me to give powders a shot again. I LOVE the Jane Iredale Pure pressed and loose minerals. Even when my skin is flaky both of these still work. In fact those 2 are the only 2 foundations that work when patchy dryness is going on. I also really like the Chantecaille powder foundation though it took a bit to figure out the shade. I just got the Lawless but haven't used it enough as a foundation to form an opinion. I think I need the next shade darker for use as a foundation. The shade I have now is better as a finishing powder. The Fenty is very nice too. I had the MAC Studio Fix years ago but had to get rid of because it was so old. I don't remember if I liked it or not. I do prep my skin very well beforehand. I need lots of layered moisture so I'm rather extra on skincare. I also like the Jane Iredale Pom Mist over all powder foundations. It just melds everything with the skin.

Try to find a good face balm. Game changer for me. And a 15 minute oil massage cleanse a few times a month; and a raw honey mask keeps my skin very smooth. I am 55 and it is all I wear. People think my skin is amazing and it is def the mineral powders. I use several brands and all of them look good on my skin. And I do not do anything 'special' to my skin... no fancy products or treatments. I take care of my skin but do not do anything other than basic stuff. Although I am into tallow for my skin. Love that stuff.🙂 *Curious did you try one yet???

Love the Jane Iredale and Pommist hydrating spray combo. I live in a hot, humid climate, and my makeup has never looked so good. I also work in the healthcare industry and have to wear a mask when onsite, and there is absolutely no transfer of this makeup on my mask - that's a first! Thank you for your great reviews. I use the Alastin Hydratint as my SPF base, and it works beautifully with this foundation! I need to try the JE serum, though!

Hi, I love your video's and watch pretty much all of them! I'm 69 yrs young, and haven't tried many powder foundations, but I have been using the IT cosmetics celebration illumination for several years now. I have tried the original celebration powder foundation, and definitely like the illumination version much better, I don't know why, but it just looks better on my skin. On some parts of my skin, like around my mouth or top of cheeks, it can look cakey, so I do those areas last with what's left on my brush, just a light coverage and all is great. It makes my makeup application so much faster with this powder foundation! Love IT !

Jane Iredale pressed powder foundation is TOP NOTCH! I am 45 and still have oily, sensitive, acne prone skin (along with fine lines, etc), and this foundation along with her balance hydration spray work perfectly for me. The makeup doesn’t settle into anything, lasts all day (12+ hours) and doesn’t break me out. Love!!!

They're all beautiful powders and definitely worth a try. The Lawsless powder was really nice and smooth/buttery. I'm all about the experience 🙂 I found that the Au Naturale semi-matte powder foundation was the winner for me. I know it's not on this list, but it was a time when I was comparing them all in terms of texture, coverage, finish, etc. Au Naturale covers my redness the way I want it to and is so easy to apply. I can get ready in five minutes for my work meetings in the mornings. There's really no method to it I just brush it on with a medium fluffy brush for a bit lighter coverage. Really good smooth coverage but not noticeable and actually buildable without caking up (for me). Very natural looking and pretty. Doesn't turn out matte if you have a decent base on for the foundation to stick to. It looks more luminous to me. Porcelain was the shade that worked the best for my light olive skin as I tend to lean more yellow/green tones to my skin. I dust a little of the honey shade on top to warm it up a bit. You can get five shade samples to try out for $25 and they're generous size because they last a long time. A little bit goes a long way.@@jenr3592

Mandy, thank you for sharing these foundations. I used Bare Minerals original for years but stopped after my skin became deeply wrinkled around my mouth due to an autoimmune disease. I have used powder foundation for years. MAC was my preferred brand. But the color range never suited me best. Why don’t you have Neutral MAC? For the past 7 years I have only used Estee Lauder. The color range includes shades of Neutral. And it is perfect. My skin is oily in the summer, dry in the winter. I just use a matte setting spray in the summer, illuminating or dewy in the winter. If I am between shades like in the fall, I just mix the two. I use primer and can do a full face in 10 minutes. I’m 70. Doesn’t settle into lines, doesn’t cake, and looks absolutely natural. Easy!!!

Hello, I love watching your videos thank you. I have used some of those but not the It Cosmetics I'll have to give that one a try. I was wondering if you have tried the colorescience power foundation and it also has an SPF in it as well. I have been eyeing that one for awhile and with summer now here. I thought why not if it has an SPF but also if it wears well and how good that one holds up on the face. Do you know anything about that powder foundation?

I have a love/hate relationship with the Jane Iredale powder. When it does good, it looks amazing! But sometimes my pores seem to look really big after I use it and then if I add more to try to blur them, it can look WAY too heavy! Is there a certain spf that seems to blur the pores before the Jane Iredale? Are there any other tricks to help it look covered without being too heavy?

I find it works great with all my spfs, but I don't have too large of pores. You could try a putty primer on your pores only beforehand and see if that helps. The Tarte and Elf ones are both great!

Hmmm, what do you think it is about the Fenty that evokes so many compliments? I assume you get more compliments wearing that than the others, is that so? From strangers or everyday people? I like JI's powders a lot (Amazing Base is my fav then PP then the liquid minerals - all their stuff is so good). I am vexxed with the DM balm powder stuff that everyone loves. I want to love it, but it's confounding me (and my color is probably too light). My first mineral foundation was La Bella Donna & after um, 25 years, I still have a container of it - meaning, I keep repurchasing every 5 years or so, but I think JI has ended that.

My tip is to use a fine spray like Mario Badescu lavender to finish my face. It takes away any cakey look

I have tried the Jane iredale soooooo many times - watched soooo many videos on application - and just can’t get it to look good on my skin - by the end of the day it emphasizes my pores and I am oily - which is weird because I have normal to dry skin … and don’t get oily lol …

Yes for sure...I think you would love the IT Cosmetics one. I have used bare minerals in the past, and it worked out fine for me, but it takes way longer for me to get my desired look with it. I find compacts to be easier all around than loose, and I did have to buff the bare minerals for quite a long time to get the coverage I wanted.

Powder makeup is my go to...I love the ease and look of them...my problem is sunscreen. After letting it dry for 20 minutes, it is still moist enough to catch the powder more in some areas.I use a mineral sunscreen... Does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't had that issue, but it could be the brush you are using. If you use the fluffiest brush you can find that still provides some coverage, you may find the problem is resolved a bit. xoxo

For some reason on me, it was overwhelmingly fragrant, and it seemed to linger. It was ok otherwise, but I couldn't get past the scent. Someone else commented that theirs didn't smell at all, so I am not sure if mine was defective or not.

Dear Mandy, will the handy brush be useful also for other powder foundations? I have one from bobbi brown with the sponge. I also have jane iredale powder foundation, but I am hesitant to invest so much money in the brush, however if it makes such a change, I will of course do it. As a rosacea sufferer I am careful about products and brushes and prefer ones for sensitive skin. Many thanks in advance for your answer.
