Once when I was in elementary school I had this teacher I hated because she forced me to do stuff when I didn’t want to which just made me shyer. I thought just those two events that happened were it, but then she literally made fun of me with this terrible confidence crushing remark. Basically, there was some stupid puzzle on the board. The teacher was pulling popsicle sticks with our names on them and of course I was randomly chosen. (Btw I’ve literally always been more quiet and always naturally felt shy all my life, it was a part of me and I couldn’t control it) The teacher said, “(my name), do you have any ideas?” And I shook my head. Then she said, IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS, “I bet she does but she’s just too shy to say it.” I remember _exactly_ what she said. I remember looking at the floor with my head down as TEARS immediately filled my eyes, but I put my hair in my face so no one could see. That probably lowered my confidence and made me a lot shyer too. I just don’t understand why the heck a TEACHER, the one who’s supposed to support children and make them have a comfortable environment where they always feel safe, would say that to a SENSITIVE SHY *CHILD*. I’m still so angry and she did more terrible stuff and I’m traumatized now (sorry if this seems really long 😬)
