If you make the borders that need to be assembled together more like puzzle pieces it's way easier to assemble and align instead of having two linear borders

Definitely gotta work on my ironing on the mini beads. They require much more focus to not melt. Overall it came out okay. imgur.com/a/2oWFM3U Made it in time for the birthday stream and it was shown so that felt nice. I missed the old feeling of assembling a project together. It felt nice

@@kinitstuffjust wondering what are some of the pros and cons you have found with both methods. I currently use smaller boards with the tape method but wonder if using larger board and wax papers for bigger projects would be worth the paper sticking
@kinitstuff
@kinitstuff Жыл бұрын
I'd say the only pro with the wax paper is that it's definitely a solid hold; I've started doing the tape method exclusively because I switched to only parchment paper to avoid ripping bits! If you're okay with one side of a piece possibly being unsightly, though, the wax paper method is great because tape method might still drop the beads if the stick isn't firm enough. Tape method does preserve your boards though, which is another bonus to learning tape method. @@klace1983

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I have a gigantic Kirby piece I’m working on (op said they used 27 pegboards, I only have 11 😨). I was wondering at what point you recommend splitting up the project for easy ironing? (I use standard pegboards) So far I laid out all 11 pegboards but I think it’s excessive and difficult to try to flip all together. Thank you again for this, I will be using this knowledge to complete my largest project yet 😁🙏❤️

I'm so glad you found this helpful!! I'd say maybe 4-6 boards at a time? I feel like that will put it into manageable chunks for you! Make sure to use the wax paper only on the side that you don't mind getting residue/rippy bits on; or, I recently started using the tape method for larger pieces and with a little practice it's been pretty manageable!

I'm a beginner and have done a few big pieces, I had to scrap a few and I was able to fix a few. I had no idea was paper and parchment paper were all that different. But you ironed you piece with the peg board under it. The few times that I have ironed a large piece with the peg board under it the peg board starts to warp and lift up off the table in spots from the heat. Small projects are ok since ya don't have to iron as much. But I am so interested in doing big pieces like this. What's your take on painters tape vs masking tape. I found that the painters tape diesnt work very well, all the beads didn't stick when I flipped it over, and I did press the heck out of it before hand but still had a ton of beads move on me when I flipped it over. Man I wish they mad steel peg board then we wouldn't have this problem. I am goinf to try your method and see how it works
@kinitstuff
@kinitstuff 2 жыл бұрын
Masking tape is definitely the way to go! I've been told a few times that it's a big difference from painter's tape. The trick with the board is honestly that mine is very old and I've used it enough that it's seemed to be evenly warped/pegs slightly melted over the entire thing, which has strangely been a benefit because it doesn't pop up or bend anymore?? But I've come around on using a combination of the tape method (with hole poking) and those interlocking boards for giant projects (basically anything that wouldn't fit a 49x69 board). I need to put up a video for it but even on my very first try I had very few problems with it!

how do you keep your plastic boards from warping when you iron on them??? I've been making big projects for a while now and I've always had trouble with the flipping method like that because the super pegboard would fold up because of the heat

Multiple boards! I have some that have warped, but weirdly a couple that only ever bubble up in the center occasionally and then go back to normal. If you want to preserve your boards then definitely use tape method, I've started switching to that so that I can do large projects in one piece
@wenchfisterx
@wenchfisterx Жыл бұрын
They go back to normal as long as you don't ovrrheat them... mine warp every time night use them and then I put water borrles.all over it and pet it cool goes.right back into shape. Just can't super heat the he'll out-of.ot.you can heat again on flat surface once it's removed. . If you're warping you're doing wrong.. just heat enough for all pieces to stick on low heat and then flip off.voard to cool and then melt.the back and flip to do front again. If ot cools.down between heating each side it works wayyyy better

@@PikaLink91 everything I make just goes up on my wall using thumbtacks since they're fairly light regardless of size (I have something like what you're describing up on my wall using just 7 thumbtacks); if you're storing it away then I'd just flatten it between 2 to 4 pieces of cardboard taped at the edges with packing tape so it stays flat; I've also made some larger items in large pieces so that they would fit stacked up in boxes, and then they could be puzzled together on the wall or ironed at the seams later!

The video "FULL TUTORIAL: How I Design and Build My Fuse Bead Art (GIANT sized!)" shows the method I use to do this, although admittedly I want to redo it and improve the quality of the video (Here's a link kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5ywl3Sqoc6HbaMsi=iwf7OL6mk63phku_ ) Although I want to point out that this method isn't the easiest; you can do essentially the same thing with several free programs online! The best I've found is pixel-beads.net which lets you upload an image and then customize the output pattern by size, bead brand, colors used, and different methods of 'dithering' and color detection. Nowadays I often use a combination of that website and my manual pixelizing method to get the perfect pattern. Hopefully I can get a new tutorial going soon!

Do you peel the wax paper off before you iron the front or after?
@kinitstuff
@kinitstuff 2 жыл бұрын
After! If you peel it before, areas that aren't fully fused yet could end up stuck to the paper. For big projects like this one keeping it on there also helps with holding everything in place and with flipping the piece! I did switch to tape method though because wax paper does risk leaving residue or paper scraps on the back. If that doesn't matter though, it's definitely still a good method!

About how long does it typically take to iron a large board full of beads?
@kinitstuff
@kinitstuff 2 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question and you'd think I'd have timed myself ironing but I haven't 😂 I would have to guess a full large board would be ten minutes? It's hard to say for sure because sometimes I'll have to go back over the same spots again to get some beads that didn't get hit directly enough with the heat. I actually don't count that time either specifically when I'm factoring in my hours cost for the customer since I feel like it's always different piece to piece
